The only real difference between Dems and Conservatives is that the latter doesn’t give a fuck about being evil while Dems act like they care but just want to do the same shit.
Not to derail, but they really aren’t. Chattel slavery wasn’t an individual condition. It was institutional and perpetual, and historically unique.
But then policing of minority communities in America doing it’s hardest to make it return. Not as far away from the original as we’d like to think.
not literally but the inherently unjust “justice” system creates generational consequences that manifest themselves as generations of institutionalized men of color.
I’ll let it go because I’m afraid that if I continue I’ll get dangerously close to sounding like I and diminishing the horrors of slavery and I’m not trying to do that.
That’s still the result of chattel slavery, though. That’s my point. White or Hispanic wage “slaves” don’t have that same burden.
No offense, because I see what you’re saying and I think you have a point, but your argument is coming off similar to people who claim that calling something a concentration camp belittles the holocaust. I don’t think that anyone here would ever argue that prison labor is anyone near as bad as chattel slavery, but to me the problem is that the current system is never really discussed and called out.
Fair enough, but I think it’s a little different. The “slavery existed everywhere and throughout time” myth has been used to whitewash American history for a long time.
Bootlickers: well if you join the military you GET free community college and then college money after that!
Meanwhile Republicans are carrying concealed weapons with “Big Bird is Canceled” engraved on the barrels and Jake won’t cover it.
It still kills me that if the Biden Admin wanted to turn the tide on their approval, I’m not sure there’s more of a slam dunk than cancelling student debt. And yet, they just say nothing.
Along those same lines, if produce shortages keep pushing prices up, can we reduce subsidies to farms (specifically mega/corp farms)?
In news that will surely bring a tear to this thread’s eye, it looks like Spanberger will be drawn out of a winnable district
If a bunch of moderates get eliminated that more or less a win for liberals. They’re already positioning themselves to lose. Let’s see what two years of inefficiency does to both parties for 2024.
