And you’re failing to acknowledge that the entire structure of our government is designed to diffuse popular sentiment, so even in the extreme hypothetical of total engagement with politics Twitter, there are no outlets for control. What’s more, there is real financial and therefore structural risk to creating a European style Keynesian welfare state in the US. We tried.
I mean, yeah. But we know why. Capital returns have to be super juicy here if it’s going to be the vortex at the heart of the world economy. Paying the middle class a labor aristocracy wage with real societal benefits means one of two roads to declining returns. We have to overturn capitalism to change conditions. Here as much or more than anywhere. And that doesn’t happen by making people care about what’s in HR 117who gives a fuck.
in the comments: I never comment but people might find this interesting: I was a entrepreneur in the blockchain space back in 2016. I went to all the conferences, I met and spoke with Vitalik before he "became" who he is seen as now. He's a good guy, but blinded by his romantic view of technology, as are most people in technology. Eventually I retired from blockchain in late 2019. People are inspired by what could be possible with the technology, and that's what kept me going, but I could never get comfortable with the large number of people who just wanted "number go up". It drove me crazy. At some point I had seen enough. I learned enough. I was completely exhausted. I understood the technology enough to see all its flaws and met enough grotesque people looking for the next opportunity to scam the crypto bros, so I left. What I want to say is, this is a really great video. A serious amount of research went into this and I know for a fact that most of the people doing blockchain work don't have this level of understanding of the industry. I do woodworking in my garage now. I'm much happier.
It is like an old person culling/torture facility? They go to the Villages and contract some tough STDs and suffer in their final days.
All this bullshit and come 2024 they’re still going to call Biden anti-cops and accuse him and democrats of defunding police.
Feels like everything the Ds say is based on there being an election next week (not in 1 or 3 years). So concerned about winning over the moderates.
Wild shit. Coming out of a global housing crisis, the city of Detroit scams homeowners out of their property and up to $600 million in mis-assessed taxes. And their solution is some convoluted scheme to let these people buy discount homes and get city jobs that has a max value of 1 penny on the dollar compared to the amount stolen. "Sorry, our state constitution doesn't allow us to repay you the amount we stole. Real bummer."
This is amazing if true. It also probably means Republicans will double down. Can't have smart minority babies on their watch.
also we spent more per capita on stimulus than any other country in the world despite scattershot NPI's
The CEO of any large company is most likely (definitely) not necessary to be “in the office”. This is so absurd on its face I find it hard to believe.
When you consider how large the force is and the % of “bad apples”, that’s probably a lot of stories to spin.
