My hot take is that I think anything that takes more than 4.5 hours to drive is long enough that you can fly there without feeling guilty.
Wonder how much that 20b adds to the deficit when it gets taken away. I thought the investment on the IRS was making a ton of money per dollar spent. I know the morons don't give a shit at all
It also depends on the destination. It takes me about 5.5 hours to drive to Savannah from West Palm Beach. But if fly I have to connect to either Jacksonville and then drive, or Atlanta. So I don’t really save any time by flying.
If it takes you longer to fly than to drive all-in that's a no for me. 4.5 hours and going through security and boarding a plane and waiting to deplane and all that bullshit? Plus whatever bag limitations or cost you have. Nah.
The Sinema manuever. Think we're going to see more of these grifters who are bankrolled by dark money right wing groups in the future
I used to like driving before I moved to Southern California. No chance I want to drive to the Bay Area or Phoenix from LA now. Vegas is iffy and dependent on time/day of week. I’ll drive to San Diego/Central Coast/Palm Springs but that’s about it.
If you were visiting family in suburban Chicago it would make sense to drive - because then you’d have a car and wouldn’t be a prisoner at your family’s place. If you are just visiting Chicago the city, it wouldn’t make sense to drive - because then you’d have a car and not use it and have to pay for parking anyway.
Can confirm. Spent a few days in downtown Chicago and it was a very walkable city for all the things we wanted to do. Except for the 7 times I got murdered, and the media will never report that!
my buddy and I walked to and from a white sox game from our conference hotel on Washington. not a single unpleasant experience was had.
There is no better way to travel than showing up to a platform 5 minutes before your train is scheduled to arrive with no security, no baggage checks and no restrictions on liquids and razors. Hop on and grab a table in the dining car, plug in and stream a movie/fav show while drinking (BYO or some you purchased on the train) and snackin. The only issue I ever ran into was arriving at an unfamiliar destination a little too drunk to efficiently figure out where the hotel was.
I drove to Vegas by myself for the ND/BYU game last fall instead of flying and actually found it quite relaxing after I got out of the traffic in the Pasadena area
Ive walked from the United center to Michigan avenue at night several times and never once felt the least bit unsafe. The only people afraid of Chicago are people that have never been there
The part of the country youre driving thru makes a big difference. Idaho/Montana/Oregon/Utah - I can do 6-8 hours there and gawk the whole time. Texas/midwest/south -- flying if it's more than 4. My old employer and clients would pay for us to fly Seattle-PDX RT in a single day. Only "supposed" to be 3-3.5 hour drive but I-5 is a literal hellhole so it made sense. I've spent 5+ hours in a car returning from PDX during the afternoon.
I haven’t flown in almost 5 years. I rented a car at our connecting destination and drove the rest of the way. I hate being on a plane. Not that I’m afraid it’s gonna crash or anything but the whole debacle that goes on dealing with an airport.
That deal is great for dems. McCarthy fucking sucks at his job. Read something about some stipulations for the budget bills not being able to include deep cuts and some possible penalty for a CR?
I think McCarthy is an idiot and a bad person. I don't think he is crazy enough to want to crash the global economy.
McCarthy learning being with and interacting with adults is much harder than the dealing with the dipshits in his party.
the only people that want the economy to crash is trump and the people aligned with him. Big corporate GOP donors don’t want that meaning the people they control won’t let it happen. Biden just had to find a way to let them save face
Yeah, the people who fund the republican whack job's don't want the global economy to crash any more than you or I do.
Pathetic that Biden was even negotiating with this clown. Fourteenth Amendment that shit and it’s over w/o establishing “precedent.” He’s implemented more than I expected but he’s still just a centrist fuckboi.
