Something like Kemp + 6. Ton of ground might have been exaggeration, but Kemp seems comfortably ahead right now.
I agree, which is why Abrams needs to come off her decriminalization stance and advocate to #LegalizeIt.
Your initial post made it seem like you were suggesting more than a 4 point gap. Thats certainly suggestive of a +7 GOP national bloodbath you think will happen. Know I am closer to the situation, but no one is expecting (a) Abrams to win the race, thats an easy take and (b) be outside of 5% points. naganole is right in the race will really come down to how much, continued, black belt bleeding occurs offset by gains made thru migration. Abrams cited the black belt problem after 2018 and it will be interesting to see how her money advantage is spent there.
Uh...if Trump won in 2020 he doesn't encourage people to not vote in Georgia which probably results in one of the senate seats staying red. That means the federalist society probably gets to pick 2 more supreme court seats + continue packing the lower courts. That's one of many things that would be worse with a Trump win in 2020.
Yeah, when I went back and reread it, my initial post overstated my thought of the race. I think Kemp is comfortably ahead, but not double digits or remotely close. Just don't think she's within the margin of error at this point. Still lot of time. I think Warnock will overcome the national environment, in part because he's a good candidate and because is opponent is just total trash. She's going to have a lot harder time.
We're ignoring how the entire covid thing would have played out much worse, aren't we? See Ukraine & SCOTUS/Courts/Senate Control already discussed
The GA senate seats is valid - though Manchin and Sinema have effectively negated the potential benefit. The judges I don’t think really matter given the activist stance of the current supreme court. Lower court rulings only matter if they agree with what the reactionaries that control the court think. Also, I don’t see any functional difference between the court being 6-3 and it being 7-2. If Thomas, Alito, and Roberts drop dead, then Biden and Democratic senate could finally matter (as long as Manchin doesn’t fuck things up).
How? Trump’s Supreme Court has negated the shit Biden tried to do to combat it. They overturned the eviction moratorium and OSHA’s vaccine requirements.
Trump's response was shit. He wasn't going to help vaccination roll out, public announcements, etc. He was still in the "it's just the flu" world during his presidency. Kush probably still blowing billions & buying things that don't exist. You think Trump sends out free test kits to Americans? Every day the mask requirements help on saved lives. Trump would have removed them 15 months earlier. List is long
Trump was on a vanity tour talking about how he personally gave Americans the vaccine. Until he went to rallies and the attendees didn’t respond. Yes, I think there’s a very good chance his vanity leads to a broad “Trump vaccine” rollout.
I'd also say stopping federal executions would be a pretty big thing. I'm sure you could argue that in the grand scheme of ~20 people being murdered by our federal gov't doesn't move the overall needle but it should
And what an amazing roll out that would have been with Jack Ass, MBA leading the way. I'm sure it would have been great, just like their response to everything COVID related. Good point
It's not just the potential benefit, the tie breaker is now with Pence and GOP is in control of the agenda. Who knows how terrible the Dems Covid Relief and the Infastructure Bill are under GOP Control
There’s still a Dem Congress and would have proceeded like 2019-2020. So some kind of watered down bullshit. Which is what we got anyway.
Maybe in the short term. In the long term every seat on the supreme court pushes back the time frame to balance. If Thomas retires, they replace him with a 40 year old that serves another 40+ years. Re: pandemic response and infrastructure: I also don't believe that less economic help than we wanted to give people is somehow equal to no help at all.
I am completely dumbfounded that any single one of the fine posters on this, The-Mainboard.com, could post with a straight face that a second Donald Trump term would be equal to or better than this milquetoast, status quo, water-treading Biden term. Stare at the sky and drown in your own spittle, you addlepated buffoon.
I don’t agree with VaxRule on everything, but Roe is gone, minorities are still limited in voting and there is no infrastructure bill. I in no way think Trump would be better, but I didn’t think Biden would be this ineffective. He has delivered on some stuff any generic Dem POTUS would, but come midterms, the usual incumbent bloodbath might be a crime scene so bad the cops would stand around and do nothing.
There’s still no way that it could be equal to. The Dems and especially leadership (Biden/Schumer/Pelosi) have dug their own graves and the country is going to crash into theofascism because of their inaction, but it only would have happened faster with Trump commandeering the sinking ship.
Agreed. To an extent of my hopes in 2021 I can see how a person does not see an upside. This speaks more to the ineffectiveness of our political system than a particular president, but you can’t fire the entire team…I mean you can and you should but they won’t.
Ya think maybe the republican senate reluctantly approved that because an election was on the horizon? It's a rather large assumption that they would throw more pennies at the masses when they were years away from the next one. As for the infrastructure plan, they talked and failed to act on that for four years. But yeah, we're all no better.
This is what Rs want, and then they can divert public funds to private schools the playbook couldn’t be more clear
Fucking hell we didn’t really have a nice run but it’s been real to the grand experiment talk about handing elections to the racists and fascists the D leadership is basically the 1970s Republican Party right now
I don't understand how these people in power can't see that the entire fucking world is going through inflation. It doesn't have to do with 1 bill passes by the Dems. It's fucking maddening
First line of Trump’s next rally speech: “Corona Joe, Corona Joe, Corona Joe” *wild, idiotic cheering and applause* “Corona Joe might not make it to 2024.”
Had to turn the tv off because they won’t shut the fuck up about all those protocols that were in place. Who gives a shit because they didn’t do what they were supposed to?
They aren’t. Looking at totals from > 2 years and comparing them to totals from 9 months is dumb, and purposely misleading to sell a book.
