My wife is upset her work trip to Florida is likely going to be canceled but I’m content never stepping foot in that state for the foreseeable future.
I don't care what state it was to, I would be disappointed over a spouse/kid free trip on the company's dime being canceled too. But I also don't travel for work ever.
Eh, dropping my fiancée at the airport this morning for a trip from San Diego where we are lamenting the temperatures dipping into the 40s overnight (while we’re cocooned in blankets and our heat pumps in at 73) to go to Denver which only gets up to the low 40s by mid day during her stay. We are not cold weather people.
Sent my gf off yesterday from San Diego to a conference in Orlando. We were both kind of shocked by the low 80s forecast and we’ve lived in Florida. Fine for shorts and tees, not business casual.
That's a "Oh shit, Im busted" look. She'll also claim it was from a while ago where airlines required it
Democrats have now wasted the BLM protests, the George Floyd protests and the J6 riots to do anything meaningful about our shitty law enforcement being really shitty at their jobs Committee investigators found that the Capitol was inadequately defended on Jan. 6 not because of an intelligence failure, Heaphy said, but because of a failure to act on intelligence showing that extremists intended to come to Washington and use violence to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s election victory. “There was a lot of advance intelligence about law enforcement, about carrying weapons, about the vulnerability of the Capitol,” he said. “The intel in advance was pretty specific, and it was enough, in our view, for law enforcement to have done a better job.” While many lawmakers and outside experts have reached that conclusion, it hasn’t been previously reported that the most comprehensive investigation into the Capitol riot did so, too. It’s also notable that the lawmakers on the committee chose to downplay — and in some cases contradict — that finding. --------------- (Heaphy's) team's findings were not presented in any of the committee’s televised hearings. An abbreviated version, stripped of details and analytical judgments, was included in an appendix to the written report. But the report said that, ultimately, law enforcement could not have anticipated what Trump would do and therefore could not be blamed. Heaphy offered a somewhat different view, saying investigators found that both Trump’s actions and law enforcement failures had played a significant role. --------------- Heaphy said he agrees with what Washington, D.C.’s National Guard commander, William Walker, told the committee: The response would have been much different, before and during the attack, “if these protesters were Black and brown.”
Not sure how long shale production will last, but it’s changed things fundamentally in Marcellus and Utica shale areas in PA, WV, and OH.
Pro union Gen Xer raised by pro union Bommers here. There almost needs to be a race designation for Gen Xers. Black Gen Xers are usually much closer to later groups.
This generational transition from Twitter to TikTok is definitely where I’m going to be left in the dust with regard to being young/in touch vs old/out of touch. It’s all down hill from here, fellas
Im not on Tik Tok either. I feel enough filters to twitter I'll be ok. But I do feel like a boomer sometimes because Im in the dark about some stuff.
tiktok caters it's content to what you watch/like so its not really going to keep you up to date with zoomers and the other yutes unless you're into that content
It will not. If you want to mobilizing an entire generation to turn out and vote against you, then ban tiktok.
Im sure there are dudes that act like that because they have Jordan Peterson brain or something. But my BS detector is going off by the fact she had her phone out so often recording all that. Seems staged.
I thought that was definitely fake at first given how it starts by filming her. And some of the dialogue is almost too cringey to believe.
Agree that it seems staged, but some people always have their phone in their hand. And like you said, it's very believable for a dude to be that weird.
I bet she also has a child who is very precocious and at 3 years old makes profound observations of the world around her.
there is a lot to take in here but she ends it with saying that an elementary school in IL got $5bil to teach CRT that school sounds awesome
I'm guessing this is why the major indices had a whiplash of jumping back up this afternoon after expecting another higher interest rate hike?
can't speak to the former, but back in november (I think) they said this was the plan to do a quarter of a percent after two half percent raises so I dont think it was unexpected but I suppose when it is confirmed/actually happens that's the positive sign (at least in wall st's eyes) since it's not the full half percent
