My thought has always been that that was a small minority of people (at least white people) who are still mostly good today.

My grandfather is 82 years old and grew up poor in the south (mill kid). He once told me when UofSC had a run of Cory Jenkins, Dondrial Pinkins then Syvelle Newton that they would never be good with a black QB because they can’t think as good as white QBs. Anyway he hates Trump and voted against him twice. Never saw that coming. My dad and his new wife thought Trump would still somehow win the election after it had been called. His wife believes in the child killing shit and is antivaccine...her daughters are both nurses. I don’t know if my dad believes in the kid stuff because he won’t say it to me, only my very liberal sister. My dad won’t engage me in political talk but I will ask him shit. He was going on and on about Dr Fauci being the highest paid nonelected official. I said do you think we should be electing infectious disease experts. The Mrs and I have talked about how we are worried my dad or his wife will say that crazy shit to our son one day. My mom was a Trump supporter but is like oh well he lost. She also doesn’t believe in the baby killing stuff.
My parents were conservative/non-political as kids but now they are pretty liberal and definitely anti-Trump so thats nice My moms extended family are all rich, sheltered, Highland Park or private school people so they are definite Republicans. Dads side all live in Ohio and not really that close with them so idk
