Fake fight scene was amazing entertaining. The look between the Dr who didn't do all he could to help and Ax was laughably obvious.
I'm a pretty constant complainer in here but it's gotten much better the last 3 weeks. Still far from a great show but not the abortion it was.
Caught up and the show has gotten much better. Wendy actually joining her husband after Lara pushes her out could be very interesting tv.
I assumed they would pick off Giamatti or Axe as a character. I'm bored with their back and forth and now they are committed to another season of it. Should have finished that battle and gone with new cast members next year.
The dipshit writers probably thought that was some epic standoff at the end. Episode wasn't terrible till then but ended up turning it off halfway through that shit.
damian Lewis delivered a line along the lines of "studies show laughter does more to improve your sense of well being than anything else" that was just so god awful during that scene. Sounded like he was trying to be a 1920s gangster or something.
The ending was lame like everyone said but I really liked that episode. By far the best of the season.
His wife can't leave him or she is completely disconnected from everyone in the show. How many seasons are they going to almost get Axe then not and keep trying? Its boring. Either put him in jail or move on.
I took it as him trying to imitate some goofy clown, which is just as bad Also laughed at how Chuck was circle Axe while talking while Axe stayed in one place not even turning around while letting Chuck rotate around him. Only on television do confrontations happen that way.
i had to come here just to say how disappointed I am in Damian Lewis loved him in BoB but holy shit is he a terrible actor, him and Giamatti compete for who can chew the scenery the most and Lewis looks like he's a fucking Marvel super villain trying to play at Giamattis level not to mention the writing is so fucking cheesy during any dramatic scene still enjoy the show overall
Sound track is pretty good too. Just st watched the last episode and I thought that I knew the answer. Is that a dude?
Neither is probably the best answer: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...er-asia-kate-dillon-showtimes-billions-979523
writers are so corny when they don't know shit about a subject the card game scenes were so clueless and cliche
While I agree the poker scenes were corny, the same guys that write Billions wrote Rounders, so I think they might have some insight into cards. Maybe they were keeping it dumbed down for the general audience.
i did that math a few hours later which pissed me off even more to be fair that's the first beef i've had with this show since it started
The entire series can be described as clueless and cliche. It feels like they were trying to ride the Wolf of Wallstreet wave and made even more cartoonish. It's fun if you don't take it too seriously.
This show is so damn cheesy. But line killed me "It's not your turn to speak. While youve been out there learning the yakki way or whatever Ive been fighting the fucking battle of thermopylae"
i just started season 2 but it genuinely seems like they're leaning into the over top cheesy/absurdity part of the show haaaaard
Ive said it a few times itt but it feels like they tried to catch the wave of Wolf of Wallstreet but are taking themselves a bit too serious at times.
yeah season 1 the tone was all over the place season 2 seems like they've got everyone on the same page that they're supposed to be over the top, over acted, absurd dialogue, etc
I like season 2 a lot better, maybe it's just because Axe and Chuck are taking Ls and it's less predictable bullshit.
Really good episode last night and it looks like it's set up for another good one next week. Wendy talked about pivoting; this show did one and its worked out.
Digging the show this year and at this point Axe story line is falling behind Rhoades and where he's going.
The two story lines can't go on forever....I was wondering which one they were going to take further.
The thing with Axe's storyline is really the only place he can go is down. If he ends up making a billion more dollars, it's not really going to move the bar since he's already a billionaire.
i'm about two episodes in. i feel like this show is almost a parody of the premium cable series. just total cheese mixed with a really polished look.
It was hard to take a lot of S1 serious. With that said, I am enjoying S2 much more now. They have fully embraced the ridiculousness and if nothing else it is entertaining.
it kind of reminds me of when boardwalk empire went way over the top with that gyp rosetti character. it wasn't enough that he was a psycho, he had to be into weird sex stuff too. same thing here. it's not enough that chuck's wife is employed by the mega rich alpha guy he's trying to destroy. chuck has to like getting pissed on by her.
almost done with season 1. this show is not great. it might not even be good, but i keep watching it for some reason.
