Always better to call ahead with larger parties
And re: the under 21 thing, they have a lounge license. They legally can’t allow kids in.
Ive tried Buccee’s and Martin’s brisket for the first time in the last two weeks and Buccee’s was exponentially better and much cheaper. Martin’s brisket was extremely underwhelming, trash really, wasnt even sliced correctly.
Also, Whitt’s pulled pork is my personal favorite.
Guys Grocery Games Live?
5pm is a red herring. At a friend’s place downtown and a few people were hungry before a concert. Some dumplings sounded good, so Shu Shop seemed to fit the bill.
They wouldn’t let anyone in my group sit down because there were more than 6 of us. When we asked for a table, 3 people were getting coffee next door. The only reason they knew how many were in our party was because of honesty.
I wouldn’t be blogging about my visit to Shu Shop if it didn’t blow my mind. Being turned away from an empty restaurant because we said we had 8 people—when only 5 of us were there—isn’t something I’m accustomed to.
picked a good week to be back in town
it’s getting wild in avondale tonight

It’s at the crossplex.
Amazing to see local chefs rise above a culinary market dominated by Milo’s and get this kind of recognition
Milo's walked so they could run.
They decided it wouldn’t be fair if Milos was allowed to participate in the James Beard awards.
Any rec’s for a good tailor in bham?
If you're just looking for alterations, Martha's in Cahaba Heights is great.

Got a payment notification for $360 for BWWB. Called to figure out what was going on. They charged me for 6 months at once. They hadn’t been charging me since January (I’m on autopay). Told them I was fine with it but they are probably going to get in some trouble if they keep doing that. The dude (predictably) did not care.
I read this as Buffalo Wild Wings at first and had to start over when I got to the part about charging you for 6 months
Oh no, that charge would be in the thousands
71 year old white male shooter.
Deceased: 84 year old man and 75 year old woman.
Injured: Elderly woman.
Person inside the church subdued the shooter and held him down til police got there.
They have to release the shooter’s identity at some point, odd to me that they are keeping that under wraps for now?
Said they would after the warrant was signed.
Heard some details from somebody close to the situation. Said the shooter was a guy known to the church. He kinda came around infrequently and was a little bit of a fringe/outcast/questionable character. But the church members tried to take him in and make him feel welcome. They knew he wasn’t mentally all there though. He came in to the potluck and sat down to eat and an elderly couple decided to go sit with him and talk. Then he just straight up pulled out a gun and shot them.
Coworker lives in Cahaba Heights and there is an older white guy in the area that has a history of pulling a gun during road rage incidents. Wonder if it’s the same person, but also really hope not bc you’d hope a guy with a history of threatening violence wouldn’t be allowed to have a gun anymore.
