I took the kids out to Barbers today for the Canopy Piloting World Games event and holy shit was that cool. Everything very well organized, food trucks, beer, etc. And I’m not going to explain all the rules to Canopy Piloting, but skydivers were dropping in at 100mph, skimming across a strip of water going like 50, then do tricks in the landing. It was fun as shit and the kids had a blast.
He has relocated to Daphne. Was in a horrible marriage but actually found a nice girl this time around. Hope things work out.

I could be wrong given the massive success of Taco Mama, but I don't feel like Otey's is really transferrable. It's kind of objectively bad aside from the comfort level obtained by going there for a decade plus.
I do hate that it's moving in right after I moved back home. It would've been nice to have an Otey's and Local 39 within easy walking distance.
Oteys is transferable if you keep the service at the same level. The only thing that is objectively bad at Oteys is the burger. The rest has a floor of average. Are people going to go to Homewood Oteys because they have the best food? No. But they will go because it has a nice location, is well run with great staff who hands you a cold beer at 11:30 on Tuesday when you are just picking up lunch cause they know even though you didn’t ask for it you need it and you do want it. I say this knowing full well I love it 98% because I can crawl home from the original.
I went to Otey’s yesterday afternoon and crushed six lukewarm Miller Lites at the bar in like an hour and a half and it really was heaven for $20.
I know most in the thread aren't big Legion FC people, but I thought/think it was a net loss moving from that field to Protective. At least at this point. That was such a cool field. There were a lot of issues with drainage, etc., that needed to be dealt with urgently, but still, way better atmosphere to me than the big stadium. Glad the competitors enjoyed it.
Is it just me or has Bham kinda killed it with the World Games? I feel like everything has run very smoothly and everyone is having a good time, including the foreign athletes. Good venues, transportation, parking, concessions, concerts. Seems like it’s been the right mix of high level competitive athletes combined with the right amount of ironic humor leading to a really entertaining product.
