I don't remember where you are, but every Saturday morning there's like 5x trucks at the Liberty Park exit. You'd have to pick up, of course, but it's easy with a tarp, etc.
My wife wants to go to I guess Hoover (?) and shop at some monstrous shopping center tomorrow. If I get stuck tagging along, is one of the Saw's the move for lunch? Or maybe back 40?
Probably need to confirm where you are gonna get stuck going to first. There is another outlet shopping area in Leeds which is pretty far from Hoover
That’s going to be hell on earth but a lot closer to Bham proper than the Galleria. If you’re looking for bbq Martins and Miss Myra’s are right behind it. Miss Myra’s has fallen off a bit but it’s the best spot for smoked chicken and white sauce
Fam said they couldnt come until 12:30. It is gonna be packed. If it’s too packed, what’s our best bet for a lunch spot without a crazy wait? I also had these on the lunch options list: -new york butcher shop -Mr Ps -Rodney Scotts bbq -Little Donkey -botega cafe
NY Butcher and Mr Ps are a hike from Johnnys. Little Donkey and Rodney Scott’s both good. Bottega is amazing but a little dressier/more formal than everything you’ve listed. Gian Marcos is great Italian, also a little more formal than other options.
Sent my wife and in laws and stayed home with my 1 year old. Went to dicks warehouse and pgatour superstore around lunch. Bought the little dude a tiny putter. The wife brought me shake shack. Solid day.
Rodney Scotts. Got the hole hog sandwich with collards and got some hushpuppies and cornbread for the table. I feel like a pulled pork sandwich is a pulled pork sandwich and I’m never blown away. Probably should have gotten ribs. Regardless it was good.
We wanted to do something easy, casual, and close to the hotel for dinner because we have the baby with us so we met some of the fam at Shiki in Homewood. Got spring rolls, pot stickers, and calamari for the table and got pad si u for entree. Pretty standard Asian fusion. Easy little stroll from the hotel.
Went to Davenports on Wed night. It was packed and they were short staffed. Probably should have never even tried to go there the night before Thanksgiving. Some guy was throwing down about his family’s food and the service and it held up the line while the hostess dealt with that. Waited for a good while and right when it was my turn to get to the hostess table/counter some woman came out of nowhere, zipped in front of me, and said she had a party of 6. I thought about it for a second and then decided to call her out. “Um you just totally skipped in front of me.” She apologized but she definitely did it on purpose. Ridiculous. Then the baby had an absolute meltdown as soon as the pizza came and we had to get it boxed and eat it back at the hotel. What a night.
I forgot to note, we went to Johnnys first, but it was closed. That's why we ended up at Rodney Scott's.
Does anyone have a dog grooming rec? I’ve used We Talk Dog since 2016 but they are down a groomer and are booked until February.
“You’re a good dog, aren’t you? Very beautiful, strong. Yessir that’s a good boy. Here’s a treat. Hey you should come over to my house sometime and we can play” - SCSA Spoiler We Talk is Only one I would personally recommend. Heard good things about Dog Days of Bham
we went to Happy Dog Medical and Grooming in Vestavia once and it was fine. we typically go to We Talk Dog too.
Can confirm that Happy Dog in Crestline is solid. I recently had to board my dog at the newly opened Birmingham Animal Hospital & Resort downtown for a few days and they gave her a great bath as well. I also know of a mobile groomer guy who brings his van to your house and washes and grooms in your front yard. If anyone wants his contact info, let me know and I'll PM it to you.
OK, Christmas tree place recs. HD is $129 for a 8-9', so I'm looking around. Not that I'm going to pay less, but would rather get better. I know about the scouts thing on 31 in Vestavia, just wondering about other stuff. We usually get a fraser fir. We got a douglas fir last year, and apparently our ornaments are heavy and that didn't work well. BUT WE ARE OPEN TO EXPERIMENTATION (with trees).
