trim tab and birmingham at large got me spoiled with all the fruited sours. it seems the midwest/chicago just isn’t that into them. even during the summer it seemed like it was 263678743 IPAs and 3 boring sours

Mountain Brook’s Lane Park just poached Melt from Avondale, got Sons Donuts last week. If Post Office Pies shuts down it’s Avondale location and goes full time Lane Park it’s going to be interesting to see if Avondale can fill those three spots :(

 

Goose is a good addition (were you with DG’s crowd?). Yes Melt is closing the Avondale spot. I’m not sure what drove Melt and Sons to relocate, I’d guess rent is higher in Lane Park. I do know Sons wanted to become a full service coffee spot which they couldn’t do in Avondale location (but in Lane Park they are next door to what has to be the busiest Starbucks in Bham)

 

Plus that Santos Coffee is going into the old Starbucks location.

Rougaroux is also opening a second location in the old Sneaky Pete's in Mtn Brook Village.

 

We should open up a Sneaky Pete’s in the Melt location.

Is the Birmingham Melt good? The Huntsville one kinda sucks.

also avondale has kinda sucked for a few years now. bring back the old parkside!!!

 

Its not a sour and not an everyday beer but its fun

 

Sour beers are a PNW and Southeast thing for sure.

 

We can start calling the original one Gus's Cafe and the new one just Gus's.
