Eugene's is the only place like RIGHT there I'd do. I find that TdB location pretty disappointing vs other chain Brazilian. Lots of stuff around Downtown (aka the stuff that's between you and the railroad viaduct) that can hit basically any price point/cuisine type, although more ethnic stuff is in other parts of town. I love scooters, so I'd think of renting one of those and just exploring a little. I know others will chime in with good suggestions. Helen is good if you want $$$, Le Fresca and The Essential, maybe Bar la Fete, are ones I'd go to for a nice dinner, although Bocca and even 218 are OK. Zaza, Paramount, etc. are good for lunch but it can be a lot of food. Bamboo (or Shu Shop, if it's open) are solid for Asian. Not any BBQ I'd recommend downtown, or Southern food particularly.
Have never been there. That location seems cursed. Normally would patronize, but have had some $4k or so unexpected expenses the last month so...no.
One of my pet’s peeves is when people ask for advice on things to do in here and then don’t follow up. Thanks a lot! We will be sure to send you to Tin Roof next time you’re here!
My bad. Eugene’s was closed on the only free day I had, plus I live near Nashville so I’ve got all the hot chicken I can stand. Just went to Mugshots because I ended up getting there later than I intended. Thanks for the recs. May hit them up if there is a next time.
My mom gave in to nostalgia and grabbed some Sneaky Pete's today when she found herself near one. They misheard her order two Sneaky Pete special dogs and thought she said ten. She's very nice and didn't want to correct them so she just paid for them all. She has been trying to off-load half day old Sneaky Pete's to me and my family all afternoon and evening.
I miss the old days of the Mountain Brook location. You get get a number 7 (two chili cheese dogs with fries and a drink) and they had gallon containers of cayenne pepper you could sprinkle all over everything. We used to be a proper city.
With the bright yellow nacho cheese. Had I never eaten one I might've told you how gross that is but I would be so, so wrong.
My dad owned a Sneaky Pete's back in the 80's for a few years and I'm still addicted to their sauce. I was up in that bitch pretty much everyday.
I was calling bullshit here because passing up a chance to correct someone way off brand. Then I got to here: “Harassing” family trying to off load extra old hot dogs, most on brand thing she could do. I’m honestly shocked I didn’t get called.
They had a chicken tender sandwich, briefly forayed into a traditional chicken sandwich, then covid hit and they went back to the tenders sandwich. I did try their original fried chicken breast sandwich whenever it was on the menu 3 or 4 years ago and it was ok, the breast was just really tiny. The flavor and breading on their tenders is awesome so hopefully this is a better effort than the first go around. /dearstonecoldstevediary
Pretty funny how badly the Alabama media hates Dilfer There's a picture of him clapping during their loss to UL Lafayette in the article below and this was the caption: UAB head coach Trent Dilfer shows approval during the Blazers' 41-21 loss to Louisiana https://www.al.com/uab/2024/10/goodman-whats-the-future-of-uab-football.html
Encouraged to see all the efforts the city has been making wrt policing, hiring incentives, additional funds etc…there’s a good walk and talk with a rookie police on Randall’s insta.
As a West Virginian in exile, this is the one thing on the menu I'd probably give a go (especially since we don't have a Popeyes remotely nearby)
Chicken sandwich with double o sauce I loved. Haven’t had forever with it not being near my office anymore
Saw's Juke Joint's current special with the sweet tea fried chicken in buffalo sauce and topped with blue cheese Cole slaw is great--especially the slaw
i swear i spent like $40 on a plate of wings at Saws right around Covid and about fell out of my chair when I got the bill!
I65 is currently shut down in both directions just north of Prattville because *draws a slip of paper from a hat and reads* of a hostage situation
My kid puked in my car at the Publix in Prattville last night. Thought that was bad. Now I’m very glad we left last night instead of at lunch today.
I always keep a pack of kids Dramamine on me for those road trips. just cleaned puke out of car seats one too many times to go without it.
