The burger at back forty is really good Wings Plus 3 - get the hot honey mustard wings Uncle G's Pizza - get the cool it down Detroit style
Speaking of wings, I found myself at The Mayor the other night after drinks at Lou’s, and while I didn’t really care for the setup or atmosphere too much, their lemon pepper wet wings were outstanding. While everybody knows about the regular West Wings at East West and Mr. West’s, those lemon pepper were pretty amazing.
*For the I-20 corridor (Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston), for now it looks like any snow will be very light. However, it is important to note that just a small amount of snow can create hazardous driving conditions due to the very cold air and infrastructure. Remember, it is all about the impact, not necessarily the amount of snow you get. *With the slight southward shift we have seen there is certainly a chance Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Anniston might miss out on snow completely this time, but it is a very, very close call. We will have better clarity tomorrow.
Homewood is open. I’m not sure why schools would close around Birmingham. The weather is going to be fine.
A lot of people who rely on the bus need public schools for childcare. Closing schools because it is cold is stupid.
These WU graphics are killing me. Snow looking SO CLOSE, yet so far away. https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/al/birmingham/KALBIRMI561
Pretty sure Topper Price wrote the Milo’s jingle. Must have collaborated on it considering the verbiage used in the post above, “one of the few individuals that can claim responsibility…”
c/p from the home maintenance thread Is $500 for a straightforward 6-8' height fence with 98 boards a reasonable price? Seems so. Neighbor is pushing about a common fence I'd hoped we'd build together. I have psycho kids, but apparently the psycho dog he has is a bigger issue. It seems low to me, which makes me wonder. More importantly, do you have a rec for vendors in Birmingham. This was apparently a place in Pelham. It's only supposed to be for like 20ft of fence, so I'm trying to understand the 98 boards thing.
Depending on the trim and type, a fence should be around $20-$30/linear foot if you hire a contractor.
That seems a little high and might be because a 20 foot long fence is a smaller job. Also save yourself the cash and just do 6 foot boards in my opinion (unless the psycho dog can scale those)
I am probably wrong now that I think about it. I paid $1,000 all in for a 6ft by 50ft privacy fence but that was in 2017.
Similar situation years ago I shared the cost with the homeowner, renting the house next door, to have a ~100' long 6' height fence built because of the tenants overly aggressive dog. Seems like I gave him $500. I figured that it would be easier and cheaper to do that than deal with legal ramifications from me killing someone after the dog attacked a family member or friend.
Hoover's on a different level this year. Destroying everybody. https://www.maxpreps.com/al/hoover/hoover-buccaneers/basketball/schedule/
When do you think the owner of that little strip mall realizes he might need to make some adjustments?
