The BJCC pays the promoter the fee that Avondale was going to pay. If both venues are livenation venues, livenation will handle the switch and work it out where they get a replacement show or something like that. The venues pay the artist and then profit mostly from concessions, parking, and ticket sales. Venues that have a contract with livenation, generally have a 50/50 profit/loss agreement. The ticket sales sit in an escrow account until after the show and then payments go out. Hope that explains it. My brother does it for a living and sent me that when I asked a minute ago.
Maybe it'll prevent the legislature from passing any more terrible laws on its last legislative day (Wednesday)
this wilco/waxhatchee show being moved to bjcc is quite irritating. why does uptown have to suck so bad? tryna figure out our pre-concert plan and all the best dt spots are just inconvenient enough that i'm not crazy about any of them for this situation
Wilco Waxahatchee show was fantastic. I think the venue change made for a better show (speaking specifically to the performances, sound, and crowd energy).
agreed. though i bitched about the location, i do enjoy the concert hall. i just don't enjoy the lack of pre-show options
I watched this series over the weekend. 4 episodes and the last one is on our BHM. He meets up Jermaine Funnymaine at The Vulcan and gets invited to perform at the Stardome. They eat at Yo Mama's. He then visits Sloss and does some other stuff. Pretty cool series that I would recommend once it come out here in the states.
Didn't know this: your weather radio is useless today. I feel like this has happened before. Weird timing to do the update in tornado season, but I guess that's life.
It was an obscene amount of food. The 6 course would’ve been plenty. The a la carte menu looked great, too.
That new mexican restaurant going into the old Brat Brot space looks very cool. I was in town visiting last weekend and was bummed I missed it opening by a week. We did check out the new Bygones bar and it was great.
Has anyone had this? Just read an article about the company and I'm all for water conservation. Going to go out and buy some this afternoon. What time can you buy beer in Alabama on a Sunday? https://www.alabamabeerco.com/
ended up booking this weekend at the Redmont. Where is somewhere between downtown and homewood that I could call for a reservation between 7-8 for tomorrow night?
Well fuck me, everything booked up so I picked fonfon and got overruled for blueprint, could be a worse situation I guess
I like Blueprint. It’s always a slightly better experience than I expect it to be. Not amazing but always pretty good. Back patio is nice too.
Bottega and FonFon are definitely my favorite patios but I need a little more casual. Olive Branch is a good call. May do that.
Snapper Grabbers deserves a mention. Their patio isn’t great but the food more than compensates. General in Forest Park is a slept on lunch spot too.
Wanted to put in a rec for AutoTread downtown if you need tires bought/installed. They can do mobile work, too. I've used them twice; this time I found an insane deal on a set of four and they got me in within 24hrs to install. $30/tire to install and dispose; has to be one of the cheapest in town. Nice guy, you can read Nation of Islam papers while you wait...
