Just watched the first episode of season 6. Last ten or fifteen minutes was great, missed the feeling this show can make me feel
through 3 eps thought the first ep was terrible 2nd ep is really good but nothing about it feels like a black mirror episode 3rd was good until the ending
Yeah I wasn't crazy about the first episode, they've made their point on unregulated technology being a bad thing multiple times over and ep1 was just another example of that. E2 was really good but definitely didn't feel BM-ish. Although seeing Podrick again made me happy.
I have no idea what the fuck the 4th episode is Spoiler it's like they misplaced a one-off halloween ep or something
Most of black mirror is usually a commentary about technology in some way. No part of ep 2 touches on that
Spoiler my hope was Hartnett was gonna go back and act as Aaron Paul and so when Aaron Paul went back it would create a conflict on which one is the real one I thought murdering them was a bit over the top but up until then it was great
Spoiler for episode 3. It’s just a theory. Spoiler https://mashable.com/article/black-mirror-season-6-aaron-paul-clue
The soundtrack of episode Demon 79 is top notch. The show opens with Bright Eyes by an unaccompanied Art Garfunkel. The songs in the episode were legitimate hits, and I've never heard any of them. My wife however, did inform me that "Rasputin" by Boney M is everywhere on Tik Tok. I would recommend watching with subtitles if nothing else, for the song lyrics. Also, "I Don't Like Mondays" was huge apparently -- it's literally a song about a guy who hates Mondays. Slays me. Watched them perform the song at Live Aid in front of what looked like 60,000 people all singing along. Didn't know that song until this episode either. All that said, I'd personally rank the episodes in order of their release: 1. Joan is Awful 2. Loch Henry 3. Beyond the Sea 4. Mazey Day 5. Demon 79.
Really liked Demon 79. Season six kind of confirms that while BM is still good. I don’t think they will ever be able to top season 1 and 2 imo. My rankings: Beyond the Sea Loch Henry Demon 79 Joan is Awful Mazes Day
Also, I really hope they distances themselves from celeb cameos. Aaron Paul was phenomenal. But he stands alone as the only good celeb episode that I can remember.
Do you really think he carries that episode better than Aaron Paul portraying two different characters in this season? Don't get me wrong, Jesse Plemons is good. But I don't think he's the darling of the USS Callister episode. Anyway, my main point is that the messages and themes of the show are better with unknown/upcoming actors. I hated Selma Hayeks acting in Joan Is Awful and Annie Murphy was pretty mediocre as well.
I thought the Aaron Paul episode was pretty mediocre to be honest. His performance was fine, but the episode was too long for my liking and the ending felt lazy. Frankly, this entire season was pretty meddling. I don’t think there was one episode I would put in my top ten BM list.
I found that Beyond the Sea had the most to say regarding tone and themes (Generational trauma and toxic masculinity), and the ending was fitting for Cliff and David's mission. It's a pretty insanely bleak episode of the entire series. Overall, this season like others, is a mixed bag. I respect them for taking risks with supernatural and religious themes. Even if they didn't stick the landing. Apparently, the latter half of S6 was supposed to be the first season of a new "Red Mirror" series. https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/black-mirror-season-6-red-mirror-newsupdate/
Watched Demon79 last night. Thought it was pretty funny and still had the BM twisted dark shit. best of the season IMO
I went through that entire episode thinking that was fat gendry. Imagine my surprise when I realized it was just a slightly less fat pod!
You should watch the new It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode with him and Bryan Cranston in it.
Where does it get shitty? I’ve seen roughly the first three seasons, liked everything I’ve seen so far
First three seasons are all gold. After Netflix bought the rights (I think that's what happened), the quality went down.
Horrid is a stretch imo. They're still a decent watch, even if there's a big dropoff from the early seasons. Same can be said about love, death, and robots
Yeah. All of the episodes were worse than the worst LDR episode to me. Caveat being that I didn't have a real connection to anything outside of maybe mega man
