Little recap video one of my friends threw together to commemorate the last year in the house. RV’ing it next year if anyone here has any interest in jumping in on that.
Yup. Friend of mine played baseball with him in college is how we met. Haven't seen him in a bit though.
I hope y'all realize how lucky we were with weather. The weekend before it straight up rained most of the time. This weekend it has been hellacious lightning storms and pop up 30+ min gulley washers. 70+ moh straight line winds Friday night. Happy Roo!
TLDR;What a fucking weekend. Dear diary, So on Thursday morning I picked up my friend at 6AM and headed to the high school. Luckily, I was given all four wristbands. That prevented me from having to shuttle in and out every day. Win #1. My car had to stay off site. Grabbed a few things of gear and took on the shuttle in case we found somewhere to set a small camp up. My friend had a small tent we were going to try to set up somewhere in VIP to have a small base. As you know I slept in the Broo'rs tent all weekend. We walk in VIP with no problems with our gear. We did have VIP working wristbands. Within the first 15 spots along the wall between What field and VIP we found an empty spot. We asked the neighbors. They said the dude should have been in Le Bon or whatever. Mother fucking score. Best camping spot I've ever had. Less than 100 yards to the entrance and my morning job. So we quickly lay claim with what we had and go to the VIP tent by 10am to start working. That shift wasn't no joke. Had to move many cases of beers that were just stacked on the ground. No complaints. That's what I signed up to do. Got off at 2p. Immediately went to the shuttle to head back to the car to grab more gear. Brought in a huge cooler and a beach shade umbrella. Saw the first song or two of the Grand Ole Opry. Could have stayed longer, but I was afraid of the crowd size at All Them Witches. Got a great spot and waited. (Now realize I missed OCMS play Rocky Top, but I saw them play it last year) They killed it. Hung out and went to The Nude Party. Same with them. Bebopped around until I had to be at my night shift post. Friday morning shift was another banger. Probably the hardest I have ever worked on the Hill. We were two people down. Regardless, got off and went to GriZ for a minute then set up for Gambino. Ran into someone from my hometown. Watched the show with them in the middle back of What. Amazing show. Caught most of Phish. May have taken a cat nap at the back of What field toward the end as I went hard Thursday. Plus not having my CPAP can drain me. Went to Superjam. It was 20-30 mins late. I just didn't feel it. Had a weird vibe. So I went to my work station and laid down as I watched Brockhampton. Saturday. Wake up at Broo'rs and head to the base camp in VIP to drink a beer and get my mind right for work. Busy but not as bad. We had 5 people and that made it easier. Get off at 7 and immediately leave my group to get a good spot for Kacey Musgraves. My group wanted to grab some drinks at camp. I wasnt missing out on Kacey. Probably my favorite show of the weekend. Immediately leave Kacey and head straight to VIP Hill to catch Odesza. Holy fuck did they put on a show. The best back to back shows I've seen in a while. Got to experience it with my group. Leave there and go to base camp to grab drinks and rest. We can hear Post. Finally decide to go back and grab food before JRAD. After a few songs at JRAD, I crashed. Apnea sucks hard. (Lose weight fatty). Wake up around 3:30. Fuck. Late to Broo'rs night shift. Well the workers didn't untap the kegs. So I had people coming in stealing beer. I couldn't run them out. They came in twos. Run one group out. Then the next set would hit me from the other side. Finally went around an untapped everything. Now it's close to daylight and I am up. Luckily I find some beer hidden in cooler. So I just stayed up watching people leave Kalliope at daylight. Take 2 hour nap. Go back to base and get ready for noon shift. Back up a second, my sister stayed with me in Broo'rs. I gave her my sleeping bag since I stayed up anyways. She only had a one day wristband. Chick lost her phone somewhere Saturday night. This where the story gets good. So I tell her do your thing and see if someone turned it in to lost and found. I have to go to work. We separated and I wished her luck. I get a message from a random number to tell my sister her phone is at L&F. Then my wife sends me a message saying the same thing. I have no idea where my sis is at. So I decided to go to L&F to get it. I can give it to her later in the week. Well it was in the L&F in pod 4. Phone is now in my possession. I go back to VIP Hill to work. Great 6 people today. In the meantime, I gave my buddy who camped my keys to make a shuttle run with some gear to take to the car in case in rained Sunday night. Get to work . She says she forgot to lock my car. No sweat. I knew I had some Vodka in the car. Got my work crew going and said I will be back. It's like 1230 so no one is going to be up there until 230. Hop on a shuttle. As we are leaving the grounds, I see my sister standing on the side of the road at this house. Why is she there? Anyways I was riding shotgun if the shutte luckily. Told the driver to stop, rolled down the window, and yelled at her to jump in. Boom. My sis didn't have a phone and no one would let her on a shuttle. It would have been a few miles walk to her car. I saved her ass. Tell me that isn't a fucking Bonnaroo story. Met Michael Scofield and Earn_Marks for a brief moment at the Broo'rs tent during Cardi B. Hope y'all used those tickets. Closed out with Phish. Mostly listening to the second set at our camp with our neighbors. Slept on the ground. Woke up and went home Monday.
TFW Walk the Moon covers "Burning Down the House" then The Lumineers cover "This Must be the Place" back to back on Sunday. One Bonnaroo related lyric from each: "Strange but not a stranger" "Home, is where I want to be But I guess I'm already there"
Just got home from the farm. The What stage is still rocking as one of the best in all the land. The light rig blows me away again and again. Guns N Roses just melted face for 2hr 45min.
Moving Groop away from the Grove and farther away from Centeroo? https://www.bonnaroo.com/news/2020-updates/
Selfishly, I hope not. The fiance and I are always wanting to go, but it's got to be a killer lineup for us to abandon Lolla. (we have free room and board, and family/friends in Chicago)
Welp that’s the rumored top line according to a source. Could be bullshit. Apparently they are spending more money on the undercard. Updating the Which stage and the Other stage.
I think Tool and Tame Impala are really good headliners, we just saw both of them last year headline festivals. So again, it's not them, it's me, lol.
Those are great headliners for me and if the undercard is better I'm all for it. Not sure how she's a major festival headliner but i saw Lizzo on Thursday night in 2016 and she was awesome. Tool is playing Nashville and ATL in January so not sure if radius clause is in effect.
Thanks, missed that. I would not go unless the Which Stage was loaded and/or they have an impressive EDM lineup at Other Stage. We don't camp, and only do the daily shuttle from Nashville.
I think with those headliners we can expect a stacked undercard. Those headliners won’t break the bank. They way they are upgrading the Which and Other make me believe that’s the case also.
Didn't think Lizzo was big enough to actually headline a day, but I don't pay attention to her music that much I guess. Tool, Tame Impala, and VW aren't mega names but all would be great, so I'd take that with a stacked undercard all the time over paying for like Justin Timberlake or some mega headliner I'd barely want to see.
No order The Raconteurs Greta Van Fleet Ghost (played Exit 111 in Oct on the What ) Highly Suspect Cody Jinks Colter Wall Brent Cobb The Glorious Sons The Sheepdogs Tier of repeats from 2017 or prior: Margo Price Royal Blood Kaleo ( although they should have put an album out by now. I don't think they have toured in a while. Sucks.) Cage the Elephant Glass Animals Umphrey's McGee Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit ( my stone cold lock to be on the card) Portugal. The Man Joseph Florence + the Machine ( I wanted her to be the first female headliner) Grace Potter (playing Nashville in February, don't think it matters) Tier ain't happening: The Black Keys + Many more * Subject to change
This is why I need that lineup. 4/5 were Bonnaroo shows in 2019. The other released a new album in 2019, saw them live at the end of summer, and want them on the 2020 card. Spoiler
