Kinda like a Kid Rock song
You've been all over the map here lately. I'm not following the joke here.
It sounds like the vocal style of Kid Rock, and it's about weed. Is that a huge stretch?
Basically just being a dick like if Kid Rock had this same song out you wouldn't like it
Not Manchester city cops on the actual Farm. Coffee County and State did.
Daddy Rabbit my bad, I make snarky comments but I'm genuinely interested in discussing music with you. I make comparisons to what I already know but I'm interested in discovering new stuff. I put Greta Van Fleet II on my 2021 playlist to give it a spin
I ain't afraid to say I use to jam to Kid Rock. Not since 2005 ish though. Saw him at the Bi-Lo Center in 2004.
Ain't done nothing wrong, hub. I know how you post. Mostly entertaining and I can follow. I didn't put together the sounded like Kid Rock until you said it.
I used to as well. I gave him props for being one of the few who would embrace rap, classic rock and country all at the same time. I still think that's a cool attitude, but I started seeing through the shtick after a while. And that Werewolves of London/Sweet Home Alabama thing was just unforgiveable
Devon Gilfillian - Unchained
The Funk Hunters - Get Up N Go
My Morning Jacket, Jason Isbell, and Tame Impala are 3 of my 5 favorite acts currently making music. That Saturday night lineup is calling me. Alas, a best friend is getting married in Nashville that night. I'm determined to attend both somehow.
Jason around 7-815 What
MMJ 915-1030 What
Tame Impala 1130-1 What
KGLW - 1-3 That
They may put Lizzo on What before Tame. MMJ on Which leading right up to Tame.
Love this new one from MMJ
You seeing those times somewhere or you just guessing?
You know damn good and well the schedule ain't out yet. Just using my ,uhhhh, expert opinion here.
Daddy Rabbit what is your list of best acts you’ve seen at bonnarroo?
No shit but I didn't know if you were hearing things from up there. Leaks to the beer tents and whatnot.
I want MMJ on Which late night. King Gizz extra late night.
Give me a minute on this one. I'm about to head to my daughter's Tball game. I've only been every year since 2013, so more recent stuff. Plus I tend to like lots of shows.
Paul McCartney in 2013 is by far the best.
LCD Soundsystem in 2016 was one that really caught me off guard. Everyone was hyping Tame Impala that followed them that night. But LCD killed it.
I'm messing with you. And I would never hear anything like that from what we do.
The groom is a diehard MMJ fan as well and we've traveled several places over the years to see them live. So there's a not zero chance he's going to petition him fiance to move their wedding up earlier in the day so we can all make it to Manchester in time. And that's a terrible idea but I'm here for it.
Slip out the back for a while
Just move the whole damn wedding there. They wouldn't be the first.
And he scheduled the wedding on opening weekend of college football? SMDH
Mecca #1 probably the best concert I will ever attend. Everything about it. The crowd lit up. The arch. His story telling. Nearly 3 hours long. "That's some good weed I smell out there." Hearing him say Bonnaroo and Tennessee. Won't ever be another.
Tom Petty - RIP
Macklemore playing Thrift Shop at it's peak was fun on Sunday afternoon. Just how he did it by taking this fur trench coat from some dude in the crowd, staged or not, was funny. Talking about it smelling and being made of pure mink or some shit. Then him wishing a happy father's day to his father, R. Kelly.
My biggest regret is not seeing David Byrne and St. Vincent play together that year. I regret it every year. Live and learn.
Jack White - just absolutely shredded. I use to have a copy of it somewhere. He put it on vinyl.
Elton John put on a show. Ex-BFF made us leave slightly early for both these shows unfortunately
. The best part of Elton and probably my favorite Bonnaroo moment, actually 2nd favorite, was this cat carried around this big Buzz Lightyear balloon all weekend. You saw him every day with the balloon. During Rocket man, he let go of the balloon. You couldn't miss it. Green lasers starting shining. It was awesome.
Sturgill Simpson - I'm a huge fan boy. My #1 artist going. I just missed out getting tickets to him in Nashville that spring. This was my first Sturgill show. I got a spot dead center about two off the rail. He threw water on me. Biggest fangirl moment ever.
After the show I immediately went to see Gary Clark Jr. I remember I just couldn't get into that show because my mind was still blown from Sturgill. I just sat there listening to GCJr but I really wasn't hearing anything or vibing.
Low key 21 Pilots put on a show that Sunday. First show on the main stage. That was when the crowds were still big for those early main stage shows. Dude made the crowd get down and row by row come up. Cool scene. Then he climbed the tower above the soundboard and played from up there.
Nostalgia but Robert Plant and the Sensational Spaceshifters. I had seen them a couple years prior. He only covered a couple Zeppelin songs. However, this show was different. The Which field was packed. Sunday night. Mostly covers. Maybe the loudest crowd sing-alongs. Won't forget it.
I missed seeing Florence+the Machine for this show thinking she will be back soon. 6 years later no Florence yet.
LCD Soundsystem - Dance Yrself Clean they did.
Tame Impala was pretty good but not anywhere near LCD.
Pearl Jam - my one and only time seeing them. I just remember how immaculate and clean they sounded. They played a perfect cover of Comfortably Numb. Also Eddie brought his daughter out for her birthday and we sang to her. I was plenty high for this show.
2017 - my favorite year.
Cage the Elephant
Missed Portugal. the Man but they came to Nashville later that summer so it washed.
And it confirmed what I always believed. U2 wasnt good and didn't appease my ears.
Sturgill Simpson - again one person off the rail right in front of him. Tex right beside me.
Completely different show from the previous 6 times I've seen him. He melted face. Just a straight rock n roll show. No background. Just a black backdrop and white lights. Fuck you COVID for robbing me from seeing his last tour.
Tom Petty Superjam tribute.
And fucking Sheryl Crow put on a show. I've never said hey put on some Sheryl Crow man. But I will damned if you didn't somehow know every damn song. She is playing during the day while I'm working so it was good music. So many shows like this that I won't list.
Childish Gambino - damn. Like really damn.
Kacey Musgraves - all the big inflatables thrown in the crowd. Perfect vibe for the entire show. I'd had already seen her on this tour. Didn't disappoint. Made it better.
2015 2018 Moon Taxi
2014 Cage the Elephant
Plenty of other solid shows. Greensky Bluegrass. Tedeschi Trucks Band. Avett Brothers. Artic Monkeys. RHCP. The Black Cadillacs. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit. Chris Stapleton. Grace Potter. Yonder Mountain. Alt-J. The Texas Gentlemen. Dwight Yoakam. The Nude Party. All Them Witches. Ron Gallo. Rival Sons. The Record Company. Catfish and the Bottlemen. Dead and Company. My Morning Jacket. Joseph.
And so many shows I've missed while there. It took me several years to figure out how to manage this festival.
Broke out a Bonnaroo shirt I bought my little girl for the first time today. No doubt the coolest Kindergartener in the county.
Thanks Daddy Rabbit, that was awesome. I like how genre fluid you are and how you will give props to hipster darlings and 21 Pilots alike. Also like some of the specific details you list about why the shows stood out. Some people can't come up with anything more than "bro they rule live"
Genre fluid and me didn't use to mix. Bonnaroo has changed that. I try to give everyone at least a listen. I probably skip some of the lower EDM and hip hop stuff still. Or maybe quick to hit skip.
I had no clue who 21 Pilots were when I saw them play. And I dont put on Childish Gambino on Spotify. But his show in 2019 was incredible.
In 2015 I thought Kendrick Lamar was alright. But I really was so tired and in the very back. It was crowded. Probably never listened to him before that. Deadmau5 wasn't very good that year in his dome. Bassnectar was better what little I stuck around. But damn at the wooks.
I like what I like. Don't give a fuck about a critic or whatever. I'm just a dumb redneck that likes music.
Our boy is growing before our very eyes.
Too bad I'll never grow up.
Any update on this?
I may end up working a beer tent at the show. I got asked to work all of the concerts on the Farm. Thought about working Jason Aldean just for the all the daisy dukes in the crowd.
How does one go about volunteering? My wife and myself may be interested, tho we already bought passes.
There is trash pickup with Clean Vibes
Bonnaroo's main site has a volunteer tab. I thought it would have C'roo info, but it links to Clean Vibes as well.
No update yet. Will let you know.

Glass Animals - Dreamland has grown on me a bunch lately. At first I thought it was too poppy or whatever. That beat drop after the horns in Tokyo Drifting will be on point.

Liz Cooper & The Stampede
Too Many Zooz
The Funk Hunters
Grand Ole Opry

I didn't work the concerts this weekend, but I will be there for Billy Strings
99 days until Roo
Feels good to be home. Watching Billy Strings do soundcheck now.
Our 10x10 pop up came in during the week, as well as our 2 person cot including an air mattress. Super stoked.
Anyone in yet?
Oh wait. 84 days.
Saturday's gonna be the best. Damn that's strong
I'm not sure I don't like Friday better. It's close. I should probably have RTJ higher. I saw Goose last month.
You like Pinegrove, right? Have you seen them live before?
KGLW, MMJ, Tame Impala was what jumped off the page for me about Saturday. Don't go much into the Isbell genre but that's also a set I'd like to see. Incubus will be great if they divert from a strictly radio catalog.
Yes, I like Pinegrove but I just got hip to them this year. Haven't seen live
I need to know if Pinegrove is more upbeat live. I enjoy their music but it just seems so low beat. If that makes sense.
That is pretty strong, and it will likely go MMJ- Tame- KGLW . Now I'm getting wet.
I feel this for several bands, especially the ones that pop up in the Isbell thread.
My man SC is going to shun me, but I just can't get into Phoebe Bridgers, Waxahatchee, and Julien Baker. I just can't feel their vibe, especially while I'm trying to do my thing at Roo. I will keep trying, but I ain't hearing it.
I feel you. I enjoy their music but I’m about ready to take them off my Roo playlists. So low beat. I’ve seen Waxahatchee live. She put on a good show but a lot of it was low beat.
I'm not much of a festival guy, but I can totally see them not really translating. I think Julien could actually be interesting with the new album. Full band, more expansive and bigger sound, but I'm guessing Sad Girl Summer™ is not the Roo vibe.
Daddy Rabbit put together an upbeat/good vibes playlist
