I couldn’t find an exact list of approved items online, but can we bring neck fans like this? Any recommendations? Sunday was miserable at CMA fest here and it looks like it will be the same temp on Friday.
They keep saying it’s going to be a hot one and suggest to bring “portable personal fans” so I would assume you would be good with that kind.
I am jealous of you guys seeing Zach Bryan on Sunday. Please record a video or 2 and post it here. We already booked a trip to see him at Red Rocks in November.
My mother is at her first Bonnaroo. She is driving a Jamtrak this year. She set up camp yesterday in the Back 60, literally the very back of the old Pod 1.
Bleachers looked really fun. Huge energy even from my couch. I need a festival but wife being 6months pregnant with number three means I watch from home. Maybe in 24.
My dudes That was excellent Daddy Rabbit Im sorry I couldnt make it to meet up man - last couple days were so packed and cell phone reception was in and out. That was fantastic, I didnt think anything could live up to 2019 but ti did. I have a few of these under my belt now and am definitely more confident in terms of hanging with a group or doing my own thing for a while. Was more comfortable with my Groop as well. So instead of clutching on, I was the one bringing the party. Highlights - Disclosure - J Cole - Tobe Nwigwe - Denzel Curry - Flume (shitty audio aside) - Machinegun Kelly - Bas - Ashe - Japanese Breakfast - Isiah Rashad - channel tres (where in the woods) Thats just off top Happy roo man. Seeing all these smiling faces after 3 years took me back.
The live stream of Billy Strings and Tobe Nwigwe were excellent. I was flipping back and forth and would've been so torn actually being there and having to choose one.
Also two different girls i randomly met - one in a food stand line, another who had an engagement ring on who complimented me. I havent been able to stop thinking about either since
I'll type out my report sometime this weekend. Im holding the green/white pool noodle in the second picture between the banjo and the fiddle player. By far the best set of the weekend
I was to the left of you. Hell of a show. I was so tempted to get in that pit but I'm old and didn't want to die.
Well getting to Roo was a shitshow with delayed flights, cancelled flights, cancelled rental cars, lost bags, broken down cars, and broken tents but overall it was one of my favorite years. It could have been the 3 years off or the smaller crowds but everything else was just amazing. Thursday we missed a lot because of the shit described above but I saw The Brook & The Bluff, Clozee, Goth Babe, some of Gryffin, lots of wondering around, and ended in Where in the Woods. I'm not the biggest EDM guy but everything I saw over the weekend was pretty damn good. Great visuals and sound overall. We took it kind of easy this day. Friday I started off with Briston Maroney, Dayglow, Whiskey Myers, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, The War on Drugs, caught the last bit of Goldpark (they were one of the smaller bands I really enjoyed that I discovered), I waited here to meet up with Daddy Rabbit and we watched Karina Rykman (she was such a great surprise for the weekend and I loved her story. She had been coming to Roo since she was 9 years old and said one day she would play at Roo and sure enough she did), Lord Huron was next, I caught a little bit of Disclosure and then went back to camp to refuel and get ready for King Gizz (that show was wild), I wondered a bit after and saw some of Illenium and Goose, went to WitW a bit and then Lane 8. Saturday was a lot of wondering around throughout the day. Caught Lany, the Superjam was a lot of fun even though it started pretty late, caught Chvrches, most of Billy Strings, friends wanted to see Judah & the Lion (they were pretty good), Said the Sky, was on the rail for Tool, then Flume, Nora en Pure, Chris Lake, and WitW. Sunday started with All Them Witches (man they are so good. I need to see them again in a small venue), Tash Sultana, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Dombresky, met up with Daddy Rabbit and his daughter for Zach Bryan, then Wallows (those guys put on a great show. Some shy first year couple asked if they could rage with me and I said hell ya. Wallows are coming to Houston next week. I'm probably going to see them again), and then our group got a good spot for Stevie Nicks to finish it off. She was amazing. Then finished the night off at WitW again. Sorry for the shitty review but I had to piece it all together haha. It was a great year. I wish I could have seen more but shit got in the way and it was hot as hell. I can't wait for next year.
2022 is officially #1 in my power rankings going back the last 8. 2017 has been dethroned. Man, what a weekend. Adrenaline and endorphins never stopped flowing. It was good to be back, I know that is for sure. I got a little taste last year working a Billy Strings and a separate Avett Brothers show at the Farm. But nothing like this. It all started the weekend before. I got to go on site and ride around in the Jamtraks. Skip to Thursday morning, and I'm on way to get my credentials. It goes as smooth as one can hope for. Instead of VIP Working wristbands, they gave me 4 Staff bands. It worked in so many more places, especially since it was half capacity. Thursday was a long day. I parked in day parking out by the East Toll. I immediately hoofed it from there to the Which stage. I missed a cutoff that would have saved me walking 20-30 mins out of my way. But if there is any time to make a walking blunder, it's early on Thursday. Got to see parts of the Farm I had never seen before. After taking the scenic route, I make it to the beer tent an hour late. No one gives a fuck. It's dead. Three other younger girls bartending were going all out on the premade drinks. I mean they got fucked up quick. Good thing is our quitting time to avoid the shit show. We, my sister and our friend all three working the weekend together, finally bounced. We walked all the way back to day parking, this time walking by Plaza 2. Loaded our gear down in bags and in a wagon. We took off and strolled all the way to VIP RV. Made it right in, no one checked us. I wouldn't have stopped with my Staff bands. Found our friends' from 2019 RV, they saved some rooms for the girls to pitch their tents. I slept on a sleeping pad and an inflatable couch under the Airstream's awning. Didn't stay at camp long. Walked all the back to Plaza 5 for the Galactic Giddy Up. Center rail dead center for both Paul Cauthen and Turnpike Troubadours there. Awesome start. Walk to This to see Andy Frasco. Goose sat in. Andy was as crazy as advertised. Had enough and made my way back to camp. Friday we get to work at noon. It is the least amount of work I have ever done on site. And it's not that I was being lazy. Just so slow during my shift. Should have stayed for Tove Lo, but I walked to Whiskey Myers. I was late, couldn't get in rhythm, but then bounced back to What for Robert Plant and Allison Krauss. I lost my shit when the opening note of Battle of Evermore rang out. There were a few songs off their new album I would have liked to have heard though and he stopped 15 mins sooner than advertised. Still Battle of Evermore with Plant and Kraus is cemented in me now. To be continued....
I’m at the Wallows show in Houston. The crowd for them at Roo was a lot different. I’m too old apparently.
