Don't know. They were both pretty young thought because Ned's older brother still hadn't married Cat and both Ned and Robert were still wards in the Eyrie. My guess is that he was around 16-18 when the war started.
me too at first, I actually responded to you and then was like fuck, wrong thread for that and deleted both posts
Ned must have been not to shabby a fighter to survive a fight with Dayne, Whent, and Hightower at 19/20. Yet he's never reputed as such, I mean he killed the most famous knight of his time.
He wasn't shabby at all, but he wasn't as skilled as the most notable of the swordsmen. He is much more renown for his ability to lead.
Robert never wanted him to be king, just said that he thought Ned would have been a better king than him iirc
Howland Reed saved Neds life in the fight. Ned never mentioned how though just that he did. Howland Reed is supposed to be a badass.
is that map right? I'd never heard of Sothoryos and it seems like Asshai is much farther south and east than I had thought
yes it's pretty accurate and yeah Sothoroyos exists. It's just mostly undiscovered territory and plays no part in the story so far [that i know of]
The only thing I can remember is that some animals are referenced as being from there, and somewhere in DwD someone mentions a disease that someone else might have picked up there.
strange geopgrahy having kings landing as a hot climate, dorne apparently a desert, and the stormlands cold and windy right in between them
pentos. it's one of the free cities in essos. the dude with the beard is magister illyrio, a big time merchant and one of the most powerful dudes in the city
So Robb, Jon, Theon, and Visarys were basically born during the war? I'm assuming they're all the same age.
Ned married Catelyn, fucked her, and bounced out the next day. Robb was born 9 months later. He is 14 in the start of the books but the series made all the kids 4-5 yeats older.
just now catching up on the ASOIAF board, but Ned never fought in any tournaments or anything so his skill wasnt nearly as renowned as many others. the only time anyone ever saw him fight was during the war.
Robert must have been pretty good if he was able to kill Rhaegar (who had beaten all the other famous knights at the tournament).
Robert is said to have been unmatched with his war hammer. winning a tournament is much different than winning in single combat on the battlefield.
