What have you been reading? I've been finishing up Dostoyevsky's works and right now I'm reading Band of Brothers again. Love this book so much.
I'm reading something called "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. It's not bad so far. Will report back when finished.
If you're intersted in Mobster stuff then "When Corruption was King" by Bob Cooley is a great read. It's about how the outfit ran Chicago
Last book I read besides anything for school was Jason Peter's book Hero of the Underground (fuckin crazy ass dude)
right now i'm reading. The Secret History of the American Empire: economic hit men, jackals, and the truth about global corruption. by john perkins same guy who wrote confessions of an economic hit man. no idea what i'm going to start reading next, maybe my text books.
Just finished 'Cat's Cradle' by Vonnegut. Gotta say, I was disappointed. I loved the last 50 pages or so, but the lead up didn't really hook me. I just kept forging on since it was such a quick read, but I don't really get why it's widely considered a classic. Slaughterhouse 5 was far superior in my opinion. Read 'Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas' again before that. Now I'm reading Hunter S. Thompson's 'Hell's Angels'.
Usually don't like sports book even though I love sports and reading. I guess I don't like how they're usually done. His story would be an interesting one though...
Have only read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy so far. And I'm not really sure how to give it up in Cliffs. But Earth gets blown up, Alien save a British man at the last second. President of the universe steals a spaceship on which said alien and british man get a ride on and from there funny shit happens
"To Hell and Back" by and about Audie Murphy is an awesome book. About his time in WW2, he is the most decorated soldier from that war.
Yeah. Right after watching Fear & Loathing for the 1000th time. That's what started me on my HST kick. I also recomment "Breakfast with Hunter S Thompson". It's easily found via torrance and it showed me more about the man than Gonzo did. It just follows him around as he lives out his crazy ass life. Great footage on there.
I read that I think either in high school or one of first years in college. Can't really remember it that well, but I do recall it being amazing. May have to check out again when I get time.
i used to hate reading books, but one day i just read one and i just couldn't stop. i've got a crazy long list of books i want to read on my amazon wish list.
Yea that's how I was with Jason Peter's Hero of the Underground. If a book doesn't keep my attention within the first 20 pages, it seems I just end up not finishing it or reading much more. But I finished Peter's book in 2 days I think.
havent read that yet, i'm waiting for it to be 2 bucks on amazon. if i get 50 pages into a book and cant stand it, i look at the sparknotes quickly then consider the book read.
Well kind of. It's actually more of a dystopian society but comes off in the beginning as a utopian society.
I believe I read it in 8th grade then. I remember reading the Red Badge of Courage in 8th grade and had to take a test over it and was confused as fuck about it. I might have to read it again because I enjoyed it just didn't understand all of it.
i hated a brave new world, but I've never read the giver. faulkner is one of my favorites... i like how all of his books are connected somehow
Forgot about Lord of the Flies and I never finished Time Machine Brave New World sucked so much. Almost did a research paper on it and then realized it was a horrible book and ended up doing A Clockwork Orange.
I don't know if you'll like it but I fuckin loved that book, even though it was terrible to read what he went through. There is some dull spots but not many IMO. Starts off talking about husker days/limited use of drugs, moves to the panther days/start of heavy drug usage, then rehab n crazy ass stories over and over again. Definitely makes you think how the fuck did he write this book instead of being 6 feet under right now.
