Big fan of the old Weller bottles.
Where are the opened bottles and what’s he letting you sample?
what's the purpose of bourbon if you don't drink it
I've had a pour of Birthday Bourbon and Weller Antique tonight. That pic is just of his unopened bottles. He has a few opened but typically likes to go through them before opening another
That birthday is on point.
It is fucking delicious. First time trying it
Your buddy loves him some weller.
Birthday Bourbon is overrated. #Fightme
Pretty good collection. Just missing the high end stuff. I assume he found that all at retail? Good for him, if so.
I have a neighbor with over 200 types, it's insane. Over 400 total bottles. He drinks a lot of it though, and will let you open basically anything except Pappy pretty much.
One of my coworkers is the same way. I don’t think think he has over 200 though.
I have around 80 bottles, but none of the really high end stuff. I basically let anyone try anything they like, but they have to appreciate bourbon. Meaning, my wife’s friends do not get that courtesy.
For the guys with the large collections, do you store your bourbons with your over liquors, or do you have a separate cabinet?
Indeed. He's pretty high up at a beer distributor so has made connections with all of the liquor store owners in the area.
Mine outgrew the cabinets so I have a separate closet. The other liquor and mixers are in a cabinet
I only have about 50 bottles, but I bought a big bar cart/cabinet shortly before I started collecting.
Went to buy a bottle of Dovetail due to the hype in this thread, and got sold on this instead. Anyone tried it?
Dunno. I’ll take that candle tho.
I bought a store pick with similar age for pperc15 he can probably give you a close review.
I built a bar in my basement and my bourbon has its own shelves. Need to put another one up soon as my collection is growing past 60 bottles.
In the process of moving out of a temporary apartment. Finding all sorts of hidden gems I had forgotten about
I got this at Martin’s in Nola and I believe it was leftover from the bourbon and bbq festival. I believe it was a “select pick” or something like that for the festival. Interested to try it
I haven’t opened my 14 yr pick yet, so can’t comment, sorry.
This asshole over here...
Can you send me those ETL and Blantons store pick back, thanks?
Think I only have like 20 or so bottles in my collection, maybe less. Most are opened. You guys are living large.
I’ll send you a couple of bottles of piss...
I’ll come to your house and talk dirty to your wife!
She’s pregnant as fuck, so good luck with that... hahahaha
Congrats on the sex!
Sounds like she’ll be receptive then.... score!
Twice now since we got married, I’m hitting home runs over here.
I have about 10 bottles only unopened ones are my back ups. I have 2 backup Blantons those honestly are the only ones I might not up until I get like two more.
I enjoy mine. Had some tonight as a matter of fact.
have a crew of 4 other guys that we get together and have a 'whiskey night', but its been literally 2-3 years since our last (every guy but 1 has had 1-2 kids in that timeframe)
my lone request for my birthday next month was a night to have a whiskey night with them, so bringing it back. We used to all bring a bottle or 2 of what we were drinking at the time to share, but i'm going to suggest we pool some dollars and try some stuff we wouldn't buy on our own, perhaps in the $100-150 range?
Sorry to be the lazy guy, and not dig back through the thread, but any special bottles out there (that I could get my hands on), in that price range I should target? I've got 3 weeks to find them, thinking 2 bottles will be good.
Lots of good bottles in that price range, just usually tough to get your hands on them. Maybe an easier bottle to find that’s a thread favorite right now is Dovetail from Barrel Craft Spirits, will run you $90-120 depending on the store you’re at.
If you enjoy Japanese whiskey, a bottle of Yamazaki 12 may be something you can find.
that would be a great chance to try some japanese, we haven't dabbled in that space yet. thanks!
will look for this as well, appreciate the tip!
Hit the local honey hole up in Nashville today:
Is that new bottling for SR?
Good Lord, looks like a bottle of Gordons vodka that you’d grab from behind a cashier.
Only open bottle I have right now is ECBP.
I woke up and immediately realized I had too much of it last night.
it's the 375ml version.
Then that’s awesome. Guessing they should be like $18 a piece? If so, that’s a great share bottle.
Perfect for all day tailgate and game drinking. I’m going with $15
They are 750 ML plastic bottles. I asked the store owner and was told they had surplus of these as buffalo trace is shipping more like this to Nashville and Kentucky markets to accommodate tourists wanting to take some home via airport.
interesting. i thought they were small. that's cool.
That’s because you have big hands. Would not marry.
Need the name of some stores in Denver and Memphis please.
I liked busters in Memphis, but that’s been 4 years ago.
Molly's Spirits in Denver
Just moved back to Little Rock. I think my days of finding good bourbon are pretty much over
