I like the 1920. Overpriced but I like it.
So it’s something that WillieHuff turned me on to recently.
Foursquare rum cask finished in bourbon barrels 2007 edition
I'm intrigued, I will definitely be trying it tomorrow. Much appreciated!
Wow. Humble brag.
Oh I’m not a doctor, I work in medical sales and wear scrubs daily from hospital to hospital. Everyone always assumes I’m a physician.
I mean, I definitely correct them. But be damned sure as soon as someone starts choking in public, everyone will immediately look to me with the, “well...?” expression.
“Go on down to Carrollton beverage and ask for Justin. Let him know the guy whose pants can’t contain his huuuuuuuge hog that always comes in sent you.”
Really jealous of that Basil Hayden.
Haven’t decided if I’m going to drink it or trade it yet. I’m curious given the reviews and descriptions, but... I really dislike rum.
It’s on the shelf pretty commonly down here now, I believe WillieHuff had it and was not impressed.
this is correct. it's here in PA, too.
Did you get your box yet?
It tastes like cinnamon toast crunch. Kinda like AE Rye
Yes sir. Planning to crack it tonight with a couple friends. Thank you, Good Sir.
Curious to know your thoughts. It's one of my favorite Japanese whiskies I've had, other than one time I got to try the Yamazaki 18 year which was next level. It's as good at Nikka 17 in my opinion and nearly as good as Nikka 21.
Saw lots of bottles of this at my local Total Wine for $38 per. Now I’m going to drink my $46 bottle out of spite.
I poured some Yamazaki 12 tonight. CoastalOrange
Had it as well. I think I enjoy the Hibiki more so but it's still fantastic.
It’s more complex
Should also say that WillieHuff was kind enough to send me a bottle of Dovetail. Had that last night and I think I might be a bit of a weakling for it. I didn't realize it was such a high proof (I am new at this). Really enjoyed the taste on the front end but it was harsh on the back-end. Added a large ice cube and was much better but took away some of the front-end flavor that was so enjoyable.
Try an ice cube and a splash of water then slowly back down on the water as you get used to it.
I drink with the Anger
Had a couple glasses of Wild Turkey Rare Breed tonight. For a 114 proof bourbon, it's pretty damn smooth. Very good bourbon that's pretty easy to find.
You try the rum yet?
No he will not date you.
Don’t be weird, please
I actually did tonight. The nose definitely reminds me of bourbon. Some obvious molasses on the taste, but I definitely do get some hints of bourbon in there. It's a nice change of pace, and I feel like it would pair well with a cigar. Is it somewhat available, or is it pretty hard to find?
Somewhat available, actually. It was released in March, so quite a bit around. We don’t have it here in PA, but you should check Ohio.
OHLQ.com has a pretty comprehensive list of what's in Ohio, as well as pricing, and it's not on there. I'll check Kentucky this Fall, and again in the spring. I'd be down for a bottle of it if I came across it.
Grabbed another bottle of ER. I’m just picking these up whenever I see them at this point.
I have access to essentially unlimited amounts for $29.99 here in PA
Kidding, of course.
Maybe I should have been more clear in that I'm happy to send good folks bottles they are looking for so if ER was impossible for you to get or get at a good price, I can ship em.
That box you sent was , very sturdy. Is that what PA send your orders in?
I see ER enough, but sometimes it's annoying how hard it is to find anything Buffalo Trace. Speaking of them, if you ever see Hancock's President's Reserve, pick it up, very solid bourbon.
Someone else mentioned they can’t find BT. It’s everywhere down here, typically $20-22.
Yup, that's the box they use.
$42 for Store Pick Buffalo Trace? Seemed high.
I had a $30 store pick, it was delicious. Not sure about $42 though.
$30 is what I thought the usual price should be.
Just moved and figured I’d take inventory of brown water as I stock the liquor cabinet. Nothing too rare but some solid flavors. Didn’t realize I had 4 bottles of Elijah Craig. And not pictured are Blantons, BT, 2 cases of Weller SR, and some others.
Yes, great bang for buck.
How is the pinhook? I think WillieHuff really likes it if I remember right?
I've got the pinhook cask strength (purple/pink top). Its okay for a super young bourbon. Lot of corn up front.
Not a fan at all, actually. Probably me least favorite of those pictured. Although I’ve heard the rye is pretty good
You crack the white dog? I’m curious about that too
No, I haven’t. Maybe I will sometime soon. Saw it, thought it was novel, and snagged it.
How do you come by your W12?
