I recommended Russell’s Reserve 10 to a friend today who is a bourbon novice and I feel good about that

I think some places have limits on the amount of liquid you can bring back if it’s not a direct flight back to the US. I ran into trouble in Turkey and they confiscated shit from me.

If I found a rare bourbon and it was confiscated, I would consider terrorism.

I was a little drunk and told the Turkish security staff that they were a bunch of assholes stealing my property. They called a “supervisor” over who was in plain clothes and looked like an assassin, so I quickly relented. I’m lucky I didn’t end up in a black site.

If you can swing the extra price tag, drink all the single barrels. That said, couldn’t hurt to develop your tastes on the cheap stuffs. :twocents:

Since single barrel has been the only vote recipient I’ll probably go switch them out tomorrow. Kept the receipt just in case.

I actually like the small batch over the single barrel. Now, don’t get me wrong I love the single barrel too, but the small batch is my daily go to.

Go to a liquor store and try the stuff. At least in Tokyo you can try just abt everything in the store for 1-5 yen. It's an amazing set-up and helped me skip something I thought I would like only to taste it and be sorely disappointed.

Anyone familiar with Milwaukee and if so, any decent liquor stores? Going for business overnight tomorrow and figured it may be worth a look.

Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were coming here as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans.

Would anybody do $450 for GTS? Hard as hell to find stuff in Arkansas so I’m considering it

Recent GTS secondary is ~$400. I don't like paying secondary though.

These really just come down to how badly you want them. Yes they're way above MSRP, but the chance of finding one at MSRP is essentially 0.

Are you flush with cash? If so, do as you please.

Are you someone with kids, student loans, daycare costs, live a normal life etc? Refuse to play the secondary market game. Fuck that.

I could buy a Pappy 23 at secondary every month if I didn't have kids in daycare.

Or if I didn't have kids.... Anyone want 2 kids?

I was at a client dinner last night and the restaurant was super high end. This was on the menu but I passed it by bit probably should have had it. Instead I had the Stagg.

Any market out there for antique bourbon? Thinking about bidding on a Very Old Fitzgerald 8 year BIB, barreled in 1956, bottled in 1964, low fill. New to the game but love antique and rare stuff. Does this have any collectible value?

I’m not against it and that is fucking cool as hell. But I’m a drinker and I couldn’t bring myself to pay for the antique road show price then open it or have it sit there as furniture.
But if you get it and open it I’d buy a taste :nomnom:

So far everyone I’ve offered BH Caribbean Rye to has asked me to explain what it is, then they’ve said, “no I won’t like that.”

Everyone I’ve offered it to and just said, “shut up and drink it,” has really enjoyed it.

the thing that scares the shit out of me on the antique stuff is the high propensity for fakes out there for these. I think they’re super cool, I’d just be scared of what I was getting.

Well, expensive trip to the liquor store today. My local spot got in an Old Forester Single Barrel Store Pick, Jack Daniels Heritage Barrel and Barrell Craft Spirits 15yr. I guess I didn’t really need that $400.

Local store is doing a promotion with High West this weekend so I’m going to pick up a bottle since I’ve been wanting to try them and it’ll also help me with their upcoming allocation event. Any recommendations on which one to get? Seen Bourye and Yippee Ki-Yay mentioned before. Also, they will have a store pick bourbon that was finished in brandy barrels.

Also, going to get my first bottle of Four Roses at the same time. Never been a Four Roses fan but they but they have a store pick Single Barrel OBSF. It’s a barrell strength coming in at 126 proof. Much excited.

Bourye, YKY, midwinters night dram, all good picks. Midwinters is I think the hardest to find. Four roses single barrel is solid IMO. Never been a fan of the small batch.

I own Yippee Ki Yay and it’s interesting but it’s not something after I drink it more that I’d recommend paying the retail price for. I like Bourye quite a bit and MWND is great. I would also grab a bottle of that OBSF because four roses is a delight.
