Got to try Taconic Double Barrel Maple Bourbon last night. It’s a NY bourbon that’s aged again in a barrel that was used to make bourbon barrel syrup. It was surprisingly good. Not for a purist of course, but it’s 90 proof and did a good job of being bourbon with characteristics of syrup, not tasting like a cocktail or a shot of alcohol syrup.

I "won" the ability to pay for a bottle of William Larue Weller Bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. The bottle was $130 with tax. Just here to brag.

My gf went to a distillery somewhere near Durham a few weeks ago and came back with a bottle of bourbon "liqueur". Even as a novice bourbon drinker I gave her a huge wtf. Sure enough it is sickly sweet and disgusting. throw it in the fucking trash.

Bold move cotton. Had you posted this in the stupid gf thread, you would have been advised to pour an ounce out per day and then never speak of it again.

There will be consequences for your actions

stopped by one of my local stores and they had a bottle of Eagle Rare for $36. DC market is a bit inflated but still snagged it :rockin:

Who is Jeff Mattingly and why can he put syrup in his trash can juice and no one would care?

He runs a distillery, and sells expensive blends that according to allegations he houses his stuff in unsanitary conditions and uses flavoring in his blends, just kind of an interesting story that’s popped up.

That CYPB makes no sense on secondary. 3x price of W12.

I’m excited to try it, but am not paying secondary for anything. I was next on the list for ABC’s weller allotment when they decided to scrap the list altogether. I talked to the manager to see if they had any OWA, and he brought me this instead. I mentioned that I had also been trying to find the Elmer forever and he just brought it out for me. After this shit couple of weeks with my kids getting every known ailment, this helped brighten my darkened heart.

You'll have to let us know if the CYPB lives up to the hype.

I've been checking one store next to the satelitte office I work every Tues and Fri and they've had some good stuff but nothing worth pulling the trigger over. Little Book 2 for 120 or 130, they've got the Black Maple Hill Bourbon and Rye for 90 each but the guy talked me out of getting it. I've had the old stuff but never tried the VT juice. I've been debating grabbing a bottle of the Old Bardstown Bottled in Bond just because its cheap and I enjoy the regular one. I'm just over trying to hunt like crazy and I think I'm just going to keep checking out this store regularly and if I find something awesome and if not oh well.

I did open my Four Roses Limited Small Batch 2014 on sunday and hooo boy that was good.

Here's how bourbon raffle groups on Facebook work. This is going to be long but read this first and then we can get to the adding members part

    *Takes a deep breath*

First and foremost, you will need electronic payment options, plural. At least two of square, venmo, and pay pal. Pay pal and venmo are the most common. More on this in a second.

The way to play is this

Raffles are tied to lottery picks. Fireball pick 3, powerball, mega ball, and lucky for life. The first two are the most common.

Someone will post a bottle, and you can buy a spot in that raffle. The price per spot is determined by the bottle's valuation (usually the total price includes shipping costs) and the lottery game tied to the raffle. For simplicity's sake, I'll use the fireball as an example.

Let's say a bottle of Elmer t Lee is posted for a fireball raffle. There will be 10 spots to purchase, ball numbers are 0 through 9. Price including shipping is typically $120, including shipping. You comment the number(s) you want, and pay that person through the electronic payment info they post at $12 per ball. Sometimes there will be a discount to purchase multiple spots. There is also an option to "buy it now", you reply "BIN". This means you've bought all spots and it's yours but you can only do this if no other spots are taken.

When the fireball lottery number is chosen, if it's a number you've purchased you win. If there are unfilled spots and your number hits you can do a buyout and pay the cost of the remaining spots and it's yours. If it hits an unfilled spot it rolls to the next drawing. Empty spots can continued to be purchased during that time.

Big rule is do not bitch about the price of a posted bottle. Market will decide if the raffle fills or not. If you don't like the price just ignore it and a lot of times the cost per spot will drop.

**When paying for spots regardless of the payment method, do NOT put in the comment section anything about alcohol. Just use some dumb emoji or comment a food item, something random, nothing at all if allowed, or just "thanks."

Aren’t there lotteries where tickets will be oversold and the seller can choose to keep the cash or buy the bottle back or something like that as well? I feel like someone said something about that as well in here in the past, I just don’t remember the details.

I haven't seen that. Sometimes they will put the house on a number and if that number hits they keep the bottle and the money for the other spots. If a spot is taken its taken, can't be purchased twice

If you're interested in joining the group PM me. You will need a Facebook account. In the PM include your name and I will find you on Facebook and friend you and can then add you to the group. There will be a dumb questionare for this group just fill it out without being an idiot. This group was a premier raffle group and we are in the process of revitalizing it.
