If I were an OU fan, I’d be behaving like a Tennessee Vol after it was announced they hired Greg Schiano right now. I think it is more likely that he will be Clemson’s defensive coordinator rather than head coach at Oklahoma four years from now. Dabo has “You’ll Be Back” from Hamilton playing on repeat. There is no way he’s listened to Hamilton so I take that back. Hamilton is too woke and anything Broadway is too gay for Dabo.
Kinda funny they let their entire roster and most of their commit list bounce before announcing this hire that will tank their program into the SEC basement
I think Venables will do a good job at OU. I remember when everyone on this board swore that Tom Herman was a gawd coach
Sark, Sumlin, Venables. Odds are stacked against him. There’s a reason why Bud Foster was a DC for 22 seasons and never got a HC gig.
Wanna come over and Netflix and Chill Nah busy Doing what? New football coach is landing at the airport
Can someone explain to me why Venables won’t be a good head coach? It would have been a home run for arkansas a couple years ago if we got him. Is it because Clemson just had one down year?
Being excellent at calling a defense has little to do with building/maintaining a program. Personally I think Venables will be fine but people who don’t think he will be are basing that more on his personality and approach than one season of defensive performance
Don't have a rooting interest in OU either way, but I think it would be very healthy in this current coaching climate across CFB if guys like Venables and Freeman succeed to show schools it's okay to give qualified assistants chances at these kinds of jobs. And especially with these two guys as defensive coaches, because from a diversity standpoint it seems more minority coaches are given chances as DCs than OCs.
There’s just something about his look that makes me think he’d be perfect for the role of “background Nazi general” in a WW2 film.
At Clemson, the Board, President, AD, big boosters, and Dabo were all in agreement of what needed to happen related to football and facilities. That's probably what he's alluding to.
he is saying Auburn's booster culture is toxic and there is friction between the Athletic Director (his boss hiring him) and the Persons with Power above the Athletic Director
It's good to know that everyone was in agreeance that building a putt-putt golf course specifically for the football team was absolutely necessary.
freeman, sure ou fans deserve absolutely nothing but the worst if you couldn’t tell from the past week or so
You're right. I'm definitely going to root for the fan bases of A&M, Ole Miss, MissSt., Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas and Texas to beat them because there aren't any entitled right wing nut jobs in those fan bases.
Pretty sure he was "offered" the job by a faction of boosters trying to control the hiring process, but when he talked with Greene, the "offer" that had been made wasn't something Greene had approved to be made nor was he ready to hire Venables at the time. And I believe Venables said no thanks after that. That same group tried to hire Kevin Steele before Greene could even being a search and supposedly made similar "offers" Bill Clark and Billy Napier. That's why Venables said he didn't like the alignment of our program. We have a bunch of different fucks trying to run shit and make decisions who aren't in a position to do that other than them having money and trying to dangle it over the program's head in exchange for power.
Has been for pretty much all 37 years I've been alive. We just had one dude for a long time that called all the shots and kept the rest of the boosters in line. With him not really in the picture anymore, there's a big jockeying for that position right now, and none of those jockeys want to give to anyone else, especially not the new AD.
