Geordies are specifically Newcastle. Mackems are neighbouring Sunderland, and you should never confuse the two because they're quite sensitive about that. To @WhiskeyDeltas point above, it always makes me laugh to hear Americans talking about a 'British' accent.
When we say that we mean “Julie Andrew’s posh” or “Dick Van Dyke who sounds more Australian than Cockney”
I did an internship in London as part of my study abroad program. Two of my coworkers were a Russian (or other former Soviet bloc country, I don’t remember) and a Geordie. Her English was far easier to understand.
My boss is from East End, London and I often have to translate what he says for other people, except I don’t always catch his rhyming cockney phrases.
I didn't even know the Welsh had their own language, until I watched that Wrexham documentary. As to your British accent point, I guess it's like the UK calling us all "yanks", which I laugh at too.
One of my early posts here was me speaking Welsh, with English subtitles, talking about my Harris Hawk which had its own thread here for a little while.
You'd know much more Welsh if you stopped following Liverpool and supported the largest club in Wales. Just saying.
yeah it’s not like that here here it doesn’t matter which foot is checked on the form, you would just go straight to bankruptcy court
I didnt know Wales was its own little country until watching The Crown when they had Charles first go there and then having Taffy post here
I follow several Brit YouTubers channels and have noticed over the years that none of them can say "sixth" correctly. It's wild how they say it differently every time and it's always an abomination of an attempt.
Mother in Law has been going on for 5 min about “the heat” which was “sweltering” today. It was 79 degrees F today.
Yeah this is a couple of miles away from where I work and same industry, so its big news. Wasn't expecting to see it on here, mind you P.s. long time no see, welcome back
