Free Agency has been a pretty big letdown. Hopefully we can make some trades to fill holes or accumulate more draft picks because we still need 3-4 big contributors on defense.
Needs as I see it.. Starting caliber DE with decent pass rush potential Starting caliber CB, can be inside or outside, dont care Rotational DT Rotational LB 2 Rotational CB's Rotational WR - Hope it's Higgins
I think Johnson was a home run, McKinley is very meh, and Malcom Smith shouldn't be a guarantee to make the team.
Honestly, I think it feels like a letdown because we’re not used to not having to try and find multiple impact players in free agency. If you look at the top teams around the league, their transactions (or lack thereof) look a lot like ours.
Yeah I don't necessarily think we need to fill our needs all in FA but I think we do need a few more. Our pass rush and our corner room is really bad if something happens to Garrett or Ward, at this point.
Don’t the Browns have a ton of cap space? Gonna use it to resign players? Obviously not many FA splashes, yet.
Love the Higgins deal Still overall frustrated If you told me we signed JJ3 on a multi year deal Pat Peterson 1 for 8 Hassan Reddick 1 for 6 Takk 1 for 4 I woulda said great FA period and didn’t leverage the future and this was out there FUCK
Ward, Greedy, Stewart, Green and maybe Robert Jackson? Berry will address CB. They have inquired on Adoree & Hill.
Just inconsistent. He can make some great plays and will sometimes appear explosive and then goes unnoticed for quarters at a time.
He really fell off the last few seasons, last year was average at best. If you can get him playing like early in his career, he’s a solid pickup.
48.0 overall PFF grade. Pretty bad. Sounds like a very, very poor man’s Goodson...but makes Goodson look like Richard Sherman in his prime in coverage.
Reading the Cots fans takes, it actually sounds like the opposite. He’s great against the run (averaging 100 tackles and a thumper) but pretty poor against the pass. With what Woods is looking to do, we actually need one LB’er who fits that mold though. He wouldn’t be asked to cover TE’s and RB’s out of the backfield. val venis what are your thoughts?
I like the signing, he'll be 30 when the season starts but if he plays well for 2-3 years it's worth it.
I think that guarantees we're going front seven in the draft. I hope they identify a guy they like and move up a little bit to go get them. Whether that's someone like Micah Parsons or Gregory Rousseau or whatever.
Yeah like I said, surprising to get a 4 year deal at 30 years old but he doesn't have a lot of wear on the tires and we probably have an out in the contract after 2 or 3 years.
So, Berry fixing the secondary in FA? going front 7 heavy in the draft then, I hope I can live with that
They are going to need to give up huge to get a player like Parsons, IMO. Don’t think Berry will be willing to give up that draft capital.
I'm not sure what will happen with Parsons in the draft but I think there's a universe where he's still there at ~15. This draft is really offensive heavy at the top.
I think I'm settling in on Greg Rousseau or Jaelan Phillips as good potential fits. Both are big and strong against the run with the ability to get after the QB.
Paye, Olujari, Rousseau, Phillips, Basham Come away from round 1 with any of those DE's and I'm over the moon.
Unless one of the stud CB’s fall into their laps, I think it’s pretty much a lock they go with a DE at 26. I’d probably rank them: Rousseau Phillips Ojulari Paye Ossai Basham If something happens and they don’t go with a DE there, there’s some really good guys that will be there in the second round. Jones, Tryon, and Weaver are all solid.
If you are putting Rousseau on the interior, then I am all for it. His production as an edge rusher is not great. Not sure why there is no love for Oweh itt. I get it, he didn't register a sack last year, but his run defense jumped over 30 points from 2019 to 2020. There will be question marks with whoever we take at 26 for DE, but I will take the explosiveness of Oweh. He is raw being that he just started playing football in 2016, but the talent is there. I am in the minority on this, I understand.
Oweh was a complete non-factor in almost every Penn State game I watched. I get the athletic ability is there, but it doesn’t mean much when you can’t utilize it. He still has yet to figure out how to properly bend and never really improved on getting off his blocker. Maybe he puts it all together, but if we’re taking a flyer id rather it not be with our first pick.
