Take Rosen #1, sort it out later. The gap between him and the rest of the QB's is pretty wide. You have the chance to get your franchise QB. Do it.
If Gregg Williams is going to play our safeties 60 yards off the ball again next year I'd probably rather have Saquon tbh. Either are fine though, I guess Hue would give Quon 3 carries a game.
Pictures from the parade/protest. According to Cleveland Police, roughly 2500-3000 attended. Danny Shelton and Emmanuel Ogbah did go on Twitter and said their displeasure of the parade. Spoiler
Ogbah was looking at it as a celebration of going 0-16 and was mad about how embarrassing it was for him to go 0-16.
I think you guys are in a spot where you just take the best player available, sure you need a qb but even if you find a good one you are picking in the top 5 next year. If you can’t get Rosen i am not sure the other guys are worth it at 1 and even at 4. Stack up talent and maybe you can trade for a proven guy, or maybe the next great qb won’t snob you. But what do I know. Rooting for you though, this has to get better.
And playing kizer this year was so stupid, the guy was not ready at all. His confidence is shot and it was already fragile, and his value is plummeting
Rosen has to be the pick. No more talks about "potential" and "high ceilings". Take the best players period.
Acquire Alex Smith and draft Sam Darnold. This gives Darnold a chance to sit and develop for 2 years.
If it comes to that and all other options are exhausted, I'd either do a trade where the Browns agree to take Rosen and Giants agree to take Mayfield(or QB of Dorsey's choosing). NYG throws in a 2nd day pick and the 2019 1st and 3rd, similar to the Eli/Rivers trade. OR Take Barkley, Fitzpatrick, Chubb, or Key with the first two 1st rounders and try to trade up in the later 1st round if a QB is still there. They have the picks to do it.
Alex Smith I am down for, he buys Dorsey, new QB and maybe Huey LoseIt time. Easily the best QB since the return. Darnold scares me with the funky windup and turnover issues. I know he is a project and as much as he could become Matt Ryan, he could be Jon Kitna. I just think the Browns need as close as sure things as possible, fan patience is wearing very thin.
I think Rosen will end up being the pick. Dorsey will be able to talk him off the ledge. Let him sit behind AS for a year then unleash the greatest show on the south side of Lake Erie.
Dorsey values measurables and Senior Bowl performances a lot. I think the initial choice will be Sam Darnold, but Baker Mayfield can sneak in there with a strong week in Mobile.
I'm only okay with picking Darnold if we get Alex Smith or some other proven vet. I don't want Darnold playing a single snap next year.
That's the correct approach. I think Alex Smith will surprisingly enough be in high demand and will go to more of a contender in Jacksonville. No reason they can't rent Sam Bradford for a year...or until he lands on the IR.
I come in peace (you know that) but what are the chances the Browns let a rookie sit. Everyone said Kizer should sit. Clevelands terrible media will be getting the fans riled up for the rookie after one good preseason game and a loss by the vet, no?
You're right. The Cleveland Media is fucking awful and they don't help matters at all. They bitch and complain no matter what the team does. They're keeping Hue and they bitch but if they would have fired him they would have criticized the Browns for firing coaches every two years. Freezing Cold Takes on Twitter absolutely roasted one of the worst media guys, Daryl Ruiter, a few weeks ago when he bitched about the Browns passing on Wentz and they linked a tweet of him praising them for trading back. Sure they're frustrated they have to cover a shitty team but their takes flip flop with the wind. I'm team Rosen, if he's willing to play here because I think he could start next year if necessary. Regardless I'd love to have Alex Smith for a year or two until the QB at #1 is absolutely ready.
I used to listen to the radio a lot but I can't take it. They way they just bitch to bitch and second guess everything regardless off their past takes just drive me insane. And their overall shit coverage of Kyrie (I know I am a homer) when he was with the Cavs.
Grossi, Ruiter, Fedor, and Goldhammer are all fucking awful. Adam The Bull is also awful but he and Goldhammer aren't really reporters. I like Carman and Andy Baskin but I live in Denver so I don't get much Cleveland sports talk any more.
What makes Darnold someone who shouldn't play next year? The media says this about every young QB. Pretty much every QB who has ever made it has said the only way you improve is by playing. Darnold isn't going to stop doing stupid stuff by sitting for a year watching someone else run the offense. He's going to learn to stop doing stupid stuff by being on the field and not allowing it to happen anymore. Of all the QBs in this draft, I think Darnold is best suited to play in 2018. He has the best pocket awareness. He anticipates throws better than most. He played in a pro-style system. And he's already shown the ability to overcome mistakes in games and not let it bring him down. Maybe he's not good enough and never stops doing stupid stuff, but if you think he's good enough to draft #1 I don't see why he can't play right away.
The Chiefs owe him 18M if he's on their roster next year and they're cash strapped. Might be wishful thinking but I think we're hopeful that John Dorsey having a relationship with him will help.
which is why it's so important that we add a respectable veteran qb this offseason. heading into this year, our other qbs were brock osweiller (cut before the season started), cody kessler, and kevin hogan. there was no way to sell any of those guys over a promising rookie who flashed in the preseason
He is going to be able to pick from like 20+ teams. Guy has 1-2 more years to make a SB run, he ain't going to Cleveland next year.
jacksonville would be a perfect fit. they win 12 games and are a legit title contender with him next year, especially with brady and ben in the twilight of their careers. cleveland certainly has the assets and cap space to put themselves in the conversation though.
I have a semi feeling that Huey LoseIt is going to turn to AJ McCarron to be the one to save his job.
Seems like a no brainer that the Browns will heavily pursue Alex Smith (hope they land him). Dorsey traded for Smith in 2013 and has a strong relationship with him. I'm hoping our last 2nd round pick will be enough. If not, throw in a 6th or 7th rounder, as well. Then go get Barkley and Fitzpatrick in the draft and I will be a happy camper. Maybe Kirk or Sutton will be there in the 2nd as, well. Thoughts?
it has to be tough to convince any FA QB to come to Cleveland now, but an aging vet coming off a really good year? 67.5% completion, 26TDs, 5 ints, highest QB rating of any QB in the league. That guy isn't coming to Cleveland to die. Much better shot at Bortles or Bradford.
Didn't think he was a FA? Maybe I am off base but thought he was still under contract and KC looking to trade him.
I think you are right, but the thought is KC either gets a trade for him, or releases him. If they release him I don't see him considering Cleveland. If they are looking for a trade, I'm not sure what we'd offer to get him. They might take next to nothing, considering it's just a salary dump.
Teddy Bridgewater is probably a more realistic option. They can throw a lot of money at Cousins or Smith. It’s probably Smith’s last opportunity for a big contract, so why not rob Jimmy Haslam?
If I were you guys I’d rather roll with Kizer than Bortles, at least Kizer is young enough to MAYBE improve.
