You guys are probably going to get Elliot Wolf too. Pretty strong scouting background collectively between the three former Packers. Should be able to finally capitalize on all of the draft capital.
and a chance to sit behind a guy who actually values possessions. i think this is the best option. then take Minkah at 4.
The Pilot/Flying J trial resumed yesterday. For those who may not know, the company is accused of welching on fuel refunds owed to trucking companies. Plea deals have been made for lower level employees. As how it pertains to Hee Haw, the feds have until April of this year to make an indictment (statute of limitations ends there). There is also talk that during the trial evidence of Hee Haw and other employees talking shit about black people, the Browns, city of Cleveland, et al.
In regards to Alex Smith, he has a roster bonus due a day or two before St Patrick's Day. Right now, his dead money cap hit if he was released or traded is about 3.5 million.
Eliot Wolf will be joining the Browns as Asst. GM. Andrew Berry and Paul DePodesta will stay in their current roles.
Love the team that's been assembled in the front office. Still blown away that a 1-31 team will make no coaching changes this off season but baby steps I suppose. Hopefully Jimmah gets thrown in jail like he deserves and is forced to sell the team.
The feds have until April to indict Hee Haw and they have a 96% conviction rate should they choose to. The new voices in the FO will hopefully drown out Huey LoseIt's influence.
If Cousins is signed, my offseason wishes are FA Allen Robinson Trumaine Johnson Terelle Pryor Draft Make trade with NYG for their #2nd and a 3rd rounder, take Saquon Barkley with that pick stay at #4 and take Minkah Fitzpatrick/Bradley Chubb 2nd round my dream prospects are Sam Hubbard, Ronald Jones, Rashard Penny, Christian Kirk. I'd take a tackle should Joe decide to hang them up
Getting an experienced Qb and moving back from #1 and getting more picks would be best case scenario. Adding another 2nd/3rd rounder would be huge. If they just focus on filling needs and not overthinking you can take care of some major weaknesses. Two 1st rounders Four 2nd rounders Two 3rd rounders 1st Cb/S- Fitzpatrick, CB Joshua Jackson, 2nd RT- Orlando Brown, RB- Bryce Love or Guice, LB- Vander Esch or Darious Leonard, WR- Kirk 3rd WR- DJ Moore, CB- Beal Michigan
I want the number one overall pick and am willing to pay the heavy price: Jets get number one overall pick Browns get the Jets first round pick (6th overall), 2019 first round pick (sure to be in the top 10) and 2017 first round pick Jamal Adams.
I would go with Darnold but they would pick Rosen. As long as the Jets come out of this draft with one of Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield I will be satisfied.
I do really like the idea of signing Cousins and taking Barkley and Fitzpatrick/Roquan, although I don't think Cousins would realistically come here.
you really can't quantify the value of a true franchise qb. to me, cousins is a dalton-class quarterback. a touch better probably, and obviously leagues better than what we've had, but still a guy who gets you 9-11 wins if everything's perfect. tired of trying to be the smartest guys in the room. just take rosen and use the other 894573947 picks to bolster the roster
John Dorsey doesn't value the RB position much, which is a GB philosophy that will be applied heavily with all the FO guys brought in. I'd be highly surprised if he ever seriously considers Barkley. Drafted the NFL leading rusher in the 3rd round a year ago and the draft is deep at RB again.
I think you're probably right about that philosophy but I think it's also pretty clear that he's a top 2-3 player overall in this draft, if not the best, and they seem pretty serious about picking BPA. Gun to my head I think they take Rosen and trade down from #4 a few spots and take Minkah or Ward and get someone like Penny from SDSU in Rd 2.
I think he'll choose Darnold over Rosen. Rosen doesn't seem to have the size and durability that he would like. From there, I think the Colts will take Barkley at 3 so he won't even be an option at 4. I could see him favoring Chubb or Fitzpatrick at 4. Ideally I'm sure he'd rather move down here, but I don't think he's going to bait a team to move up for Baker Mayfield. Advantage would be to Fitzpatrick because drafting him means that they can play Peppers somewhere not on Defense.
Chubb is a nice player but that'd be more of a luxury pick after drafting Myles Garrett and Emmanuel Ogbah the last two years. DB is probably the weakest spot on our team. I think we go Rosen because Jimmy and Hue are under a ton of pressure and they'll want the safer pick, which has to be Rosen at this point. I don't know that we'll have to bait anyone into trading up, I think when Darnold and Rosen go 1/2, someone's going to decide they have to make a move for Mayfield. If you want Mayfield, you'd have to move in front of Denver at #5. I think there's 8 elite level players in the draft in spots we could use so I wouldn't want to move further back than that. Rosen Darnold Barkley Chubb Fitzpatrick Ward Mayfield Roquan
I think Ogbah is a good rotational guy more than a full-time DE, so you could make a case for Chubb and have 3 good edge rushers. I don't think Rosen would be a great pick for the Browns. If taking a pounding in the PAC-12 was a lot for him, the Ravens and Steelers are going to be giddy to fuck him up. I don't think he'll hold up well.
I think what/if they do anything in FA at QB will be the writing on the wall. I don't think you can take Darnold without having Alex Smith/AJ McCarron/Sam Bradford type to play for a year or two while you fix Darnold's bad habits.
I agree on Rosen. Just take the best player at the 1 spot. I can worry about ceilings and potential at later rounds.
Jimmy Haslam has the mental toughness of a crack addict. John Dorsey just needs to jiggle a set of keys on a key ring and Hue will be packing up his office by December.
Huey LoseIt has to win out of the gate and fast in 2018. Anything other than meaningful December games and he's gone.
I think if we win six games and have an established qb of the future he's safe. So basically he's gone
Browns 2018 salary cap space looks like it is going to be right around $104MM. Kirk Cousins projected market value is 5 years/$128,167,000 ($25.6MM annually). Fuck it. Offer him a 5 year/$125MM deal.
He's a stud, but they need help in the secondary more. Trade down the first pick and take Fitzpatrick & trade out of #4 and get Joshua Jackson. They can take Barkley but this is a deep draft at RB and can get good player with one of their 2nd rounders.
The only other team that could financially compete with us for someone like Cousins is the NY Jets. No other team with $40MM+ in cap space, outside of the Jets ($80MM) & Browns, really need a QB.
If we added a veteran QB that would at least be league average (a Cousins or a Smith) plus add two top 5 players, I'd be more excited for next year's team than almost a decade.
Give me Kirk Cousins, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Saquon Barkley. Or, if we do sign Cousins, trade back the #1 pick and pick up another 1st rounder- 3 total in the first round, plus 2 in the second.
That would be my three too if given the option. Get those 3, two more second round picks, a healthy Garrett and Thomas, a developed Njoku, a sober Gordon, and some re-inforced FA secondary help, and I may be going absolutely giddy for the 6 wins we'd get.
IF we signed Cousins to that huge 5yr/$125MM deal, we'd still have about $78MM to play with in cap space. Carlos Hyde is projecting a market value of 4 years/$25MM ($6MM/year). I realize I'm kind of living in fantasy land, but the new front office has to be drooling over all of the possibilities of improving this team.
