If they sign Clowney, their first round pick is wide open. CB is probably top of the board, but they don’t have to go there out of necessity.
I wouldn't be shocked if AB went WR in round 1. At least one of the two (OBJ and/or Landry) won't be on the team next year (2022) b/c of their contracts. AB is always thinking ahead. If an elite WR (e.g. Rondell Moore) drops to us, I can see him taking him. We could go into 22 with Higgins replacing Landry (they are essentially the same WR) and Moore replacing OBJ...and saving around $25M or so in salary. We could also look at DT....Richardson and Jackson (new signing) are long in the tooth and we will need a young stud in 22. We could make a pre-emptive move there. However, I do think CB is still a HUGE need. Ward and Hill are solid, proven CB's...after that, we have none. Greedy proved nothing prior to his injury that caused him to miss the entire 2021 season. He hasn't shown he is NFL starter caliber or even reliable as of yet. So that really leaves us with 2 solid CB's. And we saw last year that we need about 5 on the roster to make it through the season b/c of injuries. CB is a major priority.
A lot of recent mocks have Farley sliding a little due to his injury and not being able to work out. If the medicals check out, it would be really hard to pass him up.
Clowney can get to the QB (tons of pressures the last 3 years when healthy), but his real strength has been setting the edge and defending the run. When pen hits paper, then we have a deal.
I've spent the last two weeks talking myself into Clowney if we sign him but also ready to shit on him if we don't
Absolutely. With the reports of Clowney to Cle, if Farley there at 26, I think it's a no brainer. Also not opposed to trading up if Parsons falls to around the 15 range. Don't think he will, but who knows.
any updates on the Clowney situation? with how positive reports were yesterday I thought this would be done by now. he's indecisive as fuck, so i could totally see this slipping away from us. weirdly i'm okay with this one either way... just like Bruce Bowen 's message above.
I've done something like 30 mocks with the Browns and no matter how I adjust the sliders, I always end up with Gowan, St. Juste, Tremble, & Golston
I can't believe how much the Tarik Black/Nico Collins/DPJ trio flamed out. I was legit concerned about that squad in 2019.
Black was injured early and became a head case before transferring. DPJ and Nico were victims of a shitty football program and a bad offensive philosophy. Nico I always thought was the best of the bunch, he would be a big time deep threat and red zone threat in Cleveland. Works hard too.
I did this on my lunch break and I would be more than happy with this outcome. We don't have any glaring needs and I think it fills a lot of depth. With that said, I don't think there's any way we actually make 9 selections. I expect they'll try to trade up a few times or trade for picks next year. I suspect one of those thirds will be used to move up in the first or second round.
I went away from JOK for awhile, but as the Browns fill out their roster he’s steadily moving his way back up to the top of my list. He had the highest slot coverage grade in college last year, as a LB’er, which is pretty crazy. Browns linebackers played the second most snaps in the slot last season. I feel like he’s a guy who could be one of the cornerstones of a defense for a long time.
Let's Go!! Hope we get a motivated, healthy Clowney. Don't need to go edge rusher in first round unless a good one drops to us. Hope these "red flags" keep swirling about Micah and he drops to us or we can trade up a little and scoop him up.
Yeah excited to see Clowney lined up over the guards and center and just whipping their asses when Myles gets the double teams.
Over the past three seasons, Clowney has ranked fifth in the NFL with a pass rush win rate of 25%, according to ESPN Stats & Information. During that span, Garrett ranks third, at 26%.
