I have decided the following: The fans and media loved the Hue Jackson hire - it was a failure. All the fans and CLE media loved the Kitchen's hire - it was a failure. The fans loved the Manziel draft pick - it was a failure The fans hate the Stefanski hire - it will probably be a massive success. I'll reserve final judgement until I see the staff he brings with him...although I don't like DePodesta one bit.
After simmering on the hire, it could have been worse. We could have hired Brian Daboll or the Patriots WR coach
don't think it was a bad hire in itself. my concern is that it seems like we went with the guy least disposed to rock the boat and push for structural changes in the organization, and that is, at the most basic level, where this franchise's chronic failures stem from.
I was just talking about Stefanski being an attractive guy to my wife. She looked up pictures, and I’m not sure I appreciate her response.
From a "Vikings fan" on reddit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Spoiler You will make the playoffs in 2020 with Kevin Stefanski A few reasons why. First: I highly doubt he is going to implement the MN offense from 2019 or call plays. Kevin is more of the CEO type than the Offensive Guru type. My money would be on him focusing on the team and hiring a guy he trusts as OC (Petzing probably, they came up together). My guess would be that the implement a scheme that is built from the ground up for your PLAYERS, especially Baker. Keep in mind that Kevin worked under all of these coaches. Norv Turner John DeFilppio Darrell Bevell Gary Kubiak Pat Shurmur Brad Childress Point being, he isn't married to one system. He will install what makes the most sense for your PLAYERS... sensing a theme here? Second You ARE getting Zim's defense but will arguably better talent. Your DL is going to feast under this scheme... and get ready for some fun 3rd down blitzes. Your DC has been learning all of Zim's tricks for 6 years now so I would say he knows what he is doing. Third and most important Kevin has the right personality to keep the drama level at an all time low. If there is one thing you are going to notice... his pressers are going to be boring... No bravado, no "if you don't wear orange you don't matter" but that isn't what he is like behind the scenes. He is going to hold people accountable and has the rare skill of being both a "players coach" while also holding players accountable. If I am wrong I will donate $100 to a Cleveland area charity I am that confident in Stefanski.. don't listen to the nephews in our sub. Baker is going to have a huge bounce back year and you guys are getting 10 or 11 wins and making the playoffs. Edit: Just so you know that I am not just blowing smoke up your asses to ride the karma train... this is what I wrote on the Browns after free agency last year, so not pandering... Just really believe in Kevin after watching him coach for the last decade or so.
I texted my buddy this morning "Wade should go to the Browns" Come in this morning and see the tweet from Dustin Fox
Outside of hiring Belichick back, with Saban at DC, I'll refrain from showing any optimism towards this organization. I've been hurt too many times.
Just because you’re not showing it? So you are optimistic? I’m not excited about the hire because obviously but I’m optimistic that it can’t get worse from what we had.
I mean how as an NFL HC, a fucking pee wee football headcoach, do you say shit like you don't scheme around your opponent. I don't know why I was even surprised by it when I think it came a couple weeks after the 1st Bengals game and we ran it like 6 times in the first half when they were last in the league in rush defense.
In true Cleveland Browns fashion, Baker getting hot down the stretch in '18 ultimately cost him/the team a year in '19.
I’m fully on board with the new hire of George Clooney. We may not win more games but we will look good in our losses.
Why would you say that out loud???? 2002 Kelly Holcomb? Well, he can't do worse than the last 2 quarterbacks....
I was agreeing with the post prior to mine. Also, Jackson won 0 games one year, quite literally cannot get worse.
Listen I know you are here to argue, but even you surely cannot be arguing we can somehow go worse than 0-16.
If nothing else, he definitely seems like he'll adapt to the team's strengths and attack the opponent's weaknesses. Quite a shift from the hillbilly and his "we run our system" type of ways.
