So the new episode of building the Browns is this Sunday. In the preview, it appears they have an entire segment on the new uniforms...but the player is blurred out. They can't possibly air the entire episode Sunday and have the whole segment blurred out, could they? That would be horrible television. Unwatchable. Makes me wonder if there is a chance that they release the uniforms today or tomorrow before the episode airs
The amount of attention being given to the uniforms of a team with 12 straight losing seasons is somewhat surprising to me. Pink jorts would look good to us if they won 10 games in them.
Daryl is a constant pessimist, so if they’re letting the media see them this is probably a good sign.
https://uni-watch.com/2020/04/13/exclusive-new-leak-shows-browns-uni-plans/?amp I’d be pretty disappointed with the second two.
I love the home and road ones. No orange pants is a major thumbs up from me. The color rush ones are fine.
Yeah I like the home and road ones, but the color rush is set is just OK to me. It feels plain, like its missing one thing to tie it together.
for anyone with the athletic, dan brugler did his 7 round mock: https://theathletic.com/1736730/2020/04/13/2020-mock-draft-5-0-all-seven-rounds-and-255-picks/ Spoiler 10. Cleveland Browns – Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville The Browns made a sizable upgrade at right tackle with the signing of Jack Conklin, but left tackle remains a large question mark. You could make an argument for any of these top tackles here or even a trade down for a player like Ezra Cleveland, but I think Becton fits what they want on offense. 41. Cleveland Browns – Jeremy Chinn, DS, Southern Illinois 74. Cleveland Browns – Jordyn Brooks, LB, Texas Tech 97. Cleveland Browns (from HOU) – Trevis Gipson, Edge, Tulsa 115. Cleveland Browns – Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR, Michigan 187. Cleveland Browns (from ARI) – John Reid, CB, Penn State Reid doesn’t pass the eye test at only 5-10 and 187 pounds, but he was productive (37 passes defended, seven interceptions) and tested well, posting the best short shuttle (3.97) at this year’s combine. Those numbers will be more impressive to the Browns than the size measurements. 244. Cleveland Browns (from GB) – Cheyenne O’Grady, TE, Arkansas Cleveland Browns 1 (10) OT Mekhi Becton, Louisville 2 (41) DS Jeremy Chinn, Southern Illinois 3 (74) LB Jordyn Brooks, Texas Tech 3 (97) EDGE Trevis Gipson, Tulsa 4 (115) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, Michigan 6 (187) CB John Reid, Penn State 7 (244) TE Cheyenne O’Grady, Arkansas
I don't want that fat turd from Louisville. I don't care if he ran a fast 40. That means nothing to me.
just to further drive conversation, Dane Brugler does a HUGE draft guide now dubbed 'The Beast' every year, and it's fantastic for reading up on prospects, especially during the draft Spoiler https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2020/04/07094728/Dane-2020-NFL-DRAFT-FINAL.pdf password : Bea$t20! here is his OT list: 1. Wills 2. Wirfs 3. Becton 4. Thomas 5. Jones 6. Jackson 3. MEKHI BECTON | Louisville 6073 | 364 lbs. | JR. Highland Springs, Va. (Highland Springs) 4/18/1999 (age 21.01) #73 BACKGROUND: Mekhi (ma-kai) Becton (BECK-tin) was raised in the Richmond, Va. area and his family moved to the Highland Springs district when he was young so he could eventually play basketball and football at Highland Springs high school. He was a three-year starter for the Springers (high school teammates with future ACC opponents WR Greg Dortch and FS K’Von Wallace) and helped lead the program to a 14-1 record and the 2015 5A state title (the first for the school since 1961) as a junior right tackle. Becton moved to left tackle as a senior where he helped Highland Springs go 14-1 once again and repeat as 5A state champions. He was also a center on the basketball team. A three-star offensive tackle recruit out of high school, Becton ranked as the No. 43 offensive tackle in the 2017 class and the No. 16 recruit and the highest-ranked offensive lineman in the state of Virginia. His first offer was from FCS-level Delaware State followed soon after by a wave of FBS programs his junior season. Becton narrowed his final choice to Louisville, Michigan, Oregon, Virginia and Virginia Tech, surprising some when he chose to go out-of-state to Louisville. His friendship with former Louisville tackle Geron Christian (third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins) was a deciding factor for the Cardinals. Becton elected to skip his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft. [88] YEAR (GP/GS) POSITION NOTES 2017: (12/10) RT 2018: (12/12) 10 LT, 2 RT 2019: (11/11) LT Second team All-American; 2019 Jacobs Blocking Trophy (top OL in the ACC); First team All-ACC Total: (35/33) 21 LT, 12 RT HT WT ARM HAND WING 40-YD 20-YD 10-YD VJ BJ SS 3C BP COMBINE 6073 364 35 5/8 10 3/4 83 1/4 5.10 2.94 1.77 - - - - 23 (no jumps, shuttle, 3-cone – rt hamstring) PRO DAY N/A (Pro Day canceled) STRENGTHS: Massive frame with broad shoulders and vines for arms…light feet for a man that size…wide lateral strides to protect the corner…twitched-up muscles in his lower half with body flexibility to react to whatever the action requires (former coach Bobby Petrino: “One of the most impressive things…seeing him do a reverse dunk”)…upper body strength/length to reach-block with ease…people-mover in the run game and drives them off their spot…collapses the line on down blocks…uses his length to ragdoll defenders before they can counter…stays after his blocks and buries when he can…not boisterous, but developed a leadership voice as a junior (Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield: “He has been a leader for our offensive line and our offense as a whole”)…experienced at both left and right tackle. WEAKNESSES: Tends to lean into contact, falling off blocks and losing his balance…aggressively commits to his spot, making him late to redirect his momentum vs. inside moves…solid fundamentals, but defaults back on his size too often…body angles lacks refinement…uses knee bend, but naturally tall and body leverage will never be a strength to his game…needs to develop his eyes and overall awareness vs. pressures…missed one game as a junior due to a right ankle sprain (November 2019). SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Louisville, Becton was the starting left tackle in head coach Scott Satterfield’s stretch zone scheme, becoming the first player in school history to win the Jacobs Trophy, which goes to the top blocker in the ACC (as voted on by the coaches). He alternated at left and right tackle under the previous coaching staff, which used strongside/weakside tackles, and is well-versed at either position (also played both spots in high school). With his rare combination of size and athleticism, Becton stonewalls rushers in pass protection and generates a surge in the run game, using his length to escort defenders off the screen. He overwhelms with his natural strength, although he has some sloppy reps on tape and must continue to fine-tune his consistency. Overall, Becton has overaggressive tendencies that lead to balance concerns, but he is a gifted blocker with impressive movement skills and power, projecting as a high-upside prospect at either left or right tackle.
I have no reasoning. Just don't like the way he looks. Relevant- I predicted Trent Richarson to be the next Jim Brown, so take my #takes for what their worth.
dude. thanks for posting this. I've been an Athletic subscriber for two years but decided to bail this year. Dane's Beast is the only thing I've missed.
Lots of buzz around us trading back and taking Ezra Cleveland. If we move back, the price starts at a second rounder. If it's more than 6 or 7 spots it becomes a first next year, for me.
Denver traded from 10 to 20 last year and got a second and a third this year. I think that's where the floor would be for me to move back.
There's a lot of buzz about us really liking Andrew Thomas, or Becton being a great fit for our scheme too. I still find it hard to believe if one of the 4 top tackles are there at #10, we trade down.
Busy as hell at work today and remember thinking around 10 this morning sweet jerseys in a couple hours. Forgot, then just got excited and then was confused nothing was posted. Apparently thought it was Wednesday all day. Quarantine doing a number on me.
think it depends how far and for what (yes well duh Dahl) specifically... there is a good chance many of the top WRs will be available at 10, and 11 (jets) 12 (raiders) and 13 (49ers) are all looking at WRs in this draft. If anyone wants to target a certain guy, moving to 10 is the ideal spot to jump before the big run scoops your guy up. You could move back to any of those slots 11-13, pick up an extra 3rd or 4th, and still get your OT. I think moving any later than 15 or so really puts you at risk at not getting one of the big 4 tackles.
Yeah but trading down also puts you at risk of someone else paying a ransom to jump ahead for the OT. Say for example the Raiders have 2 WRs they love and they go to the 49ers (who hypothetically jumped up to 10) and Jets so they shop 12 to a team jumping ahead of Cleveland for the OT
I'm not a jersey guy anymore really but I'm looking for some new Browns gear. Hopefully they have some cool new stuff with the elf logo
I’d be pretty bummed if one of the top 4 OT’s or Simmons is there and they trade down. So I’m going to assume they’ll trade down and miss out on all of them.
