If you target some 3 and 4* recruits in the off-season without interest from other schools you can sign some of them. Thats how I did it with my one star Arkansas St. team.
Do they have to be interested in my school initially? If so, then it is void because none of them were.
No. I try to get most of my recruiting done by the time the off-season comes around so I can target 3 or 4 big name recruits and give them 60 minutes each week. By the time the fifth week rolls around you usually have some interest and then give them promises like the no redshirting. Since you're the only school thats offered you usually become one of their top schools quickly. If you don't become a target school after 2 or 3 weeks move on to someone else. It doesn't work all the time. Last time I got 1 out of 3 recruits and was in second place with the number one player in the country.
Yeah, last year I used Mid Tenn St (1 star) and managed to sign like 5-6 4* and a bunch of 3*. Use the search function, search for recruits still considering 10 teams and add them up to your recruiting board. If they're not interested when they narrow it down to a top 8, remove them and find some more recruits.
This is already answered, but absolutely no they don't need to be interested in your school. Here's what I do: Add interested guys in positions of need Add highly rated guys from my state and surrounding/pipeline states, regardless of interest. About week 10 or so...start scrolling through the list of players from #1 down and target guys who have ZERO offers currently. About 20% or so of the players will still have no offers...about 1/3rd or so will become interested in your school after a scholarship offer. Do the same thing again about week 14 when you have more room in your list. Do the same thing again in week 2/3 of offseason recruiting if your class is still going to be small.
Well, gentlemen, we are 4-0 in the 2009 season. Big upset over my alma-mater, Alabama, but it had to be done. Forgot to mention...after you offer a guy who previously wasn't interested..if he doesn't become interested in the first couple weeks after offering and phonestalking him, just drop him
I simmed the majority of season 1 with SMU, went 6-6 no bowl game. I got a 4* QB who also had offers from UT and OU, he's not as good as my previous starter but he is going to play(made promises)
