For reference about how evil this guy was, 50+ rapes and 12 murders
For those of you that aren’t in the loop, a serial rapist (50+ attacks) turned serial murderer (at least 12) that stalked California during 1976-1986 has allegedly being arrested and DNA matched.
There are several podcast on this Killer (Coldcase has a 4 part series, Criminology season 2 is currently covering him, HLN has a podcast and a mini-series...) and recently the amazing novel by Michelle McNamara (I’ll Be Gone in the Dark), the late Wife of comedian/actor Patton Oswalt, was released.
With the recent coverage and the public about to learn some of the deeper details, I believe this (if it is in fact the guy) will go down as one of the most notorious serial killers ever. Holmes, Bundy, Jack the Ripper, Zodiac level stuff.
Anxious to see if he resembles this sketch.
Just an incel who took matters into his own hands.
Nothing to see here.
Was just coming to post this. Pretty freaking cool if they did finally get their guy
One of the survivors said that police told her it’s the guy:
I heard Patton talking about this after his wife had passed and telling a story about a community meeting and a guy talking tough and saying he’d never allow that to happen in his house and his wife was the next one raped and I’m guessing both killed.
In uniform vs composite sketch.
So dad from family ties
Not the next to be raped, I believe it was 6 months after the town hall meeting, but yes it’s true. They weren’t killed.
It’s what makes the case even more sick/fascinating. He progressed into killing and most happened in southern California. The only murders to happen (that they believe and can be linked) were a couple gunned down in Sacramento area.
The murders down south, well, most of those are much more gruesome.
How is Patton Oswalt involved in this??
His wife was writing a book/making a documentary before she passed
yeah, feel like I'd be terrible at trying to describe the face of a suspect for sketch artists, that's amazingly spot on
I want to see a pic of him now.
If I read correctly, he did a shitload of B&E (he's also some infamous burglar in the area) then progressed into rape then got fired as a cop when he was caught shoplifting (dog repellent and a goddamn hammer) then graduated to murder after being fired (I think one rape occured after he got fired). Bonkers case.
Yeah, I would be all
Live news report:
Guy apparently still kept lots of items stolen from victims.
Patton Oswalt's dead wife wrote a book on this guy. She died before publishing and a new author and Oswalt helped finish the book. He must feel good about this.
that's awesome, if he's indeed the killer.
finished i'll be gone in the dark a couple weeks ago. it was fantastic but also devastating, knowing the entire time that mcnamara wouldn't be alive to see his capture.
Could you imagine being this guys neighbor?
Oh hi James, nice weather today huh?
Probably not if he raped you. You’d probably remember his face for the rest of your life.
I just read about this dude on here a few days ago. The crazy thing to me about these dudes that have attacked or killed dozens of people is that none of their victims were able to maim them in some way. Like poke out an eye or something.
is there any good longform on this or is wiki the best way to go
Unbelievable that they got him, I assumed him and the zodiac would evade forever. Really awesome news that they got him, can’t imagine how Patton Oswalt is feeling right now, it’s something he should be extremely proud of.
Thank god, because watching specials on that mother fucker really creeped me out.
In terms of confirmation it's him, I don't believe it's officially announced/released. Beyond that I think there's a few links posted across the two threads about it
She would probably feel good too, but she’s DEAD
Where are you going with this one?
If any of you guys have some time, Case File podcast did a 4 part episode on this guy. Most creeped out I've ever felt. I can't imagine living in this area during this time. He would stack plates and cups and shit on the husbands while he raped their wives, and said if any fell on the floor he'd kill their family.
Serial murder and rapist is a former cop and DBL is not surprised.
Why would he be? Obviously one example is representative of the whole. It’s science.
I'm always seriously amazed at how the artists are able to do that
I'd imagine the vast majority don't try to fight/don't know he's a serial killer and might think they'll live if they don't fight. Or they're worried about their families.
The way bro ’s post read sounded funny to me. Like he really wanted us to know Patton Oswalt’s wife is dead.
Listen to the casefile podcast and start on season 2 of criminology.
As for longform, read Michelle McNmara’s book. It’s great and 300ish pages, do not overwhelming (I’m 4/5 done).
This, and he tied each of them up, a few got lucky and were able to fight him off.
First kill in Southern California was a husband that fought back ... he proceeded to shoot him and rape the wife before killing her.
Many, also, had children in the house (several young kids approached him while using restroom or hearing noises and he would hold conversations with them or lock them in bathrooms) and the thought of them just giving into the rape was easier to protect the kids.
The East Area rapist is known to have a tiny penis. The east area rapist is a former police officer. Police officers have tiny peni.
there is a whole book from what i learned itt.
