Was debating this. Who had the more impressive season? If you think someone else was better post it
What Joe Burrow did last year was ridiculous
but really its Joe Burrow
Burrow statistically by a mile
76.3% completion, 10.8 Y/A, 6055 total yards, 65 total TDs, 6 INTs
66.1% completion, 10.2 Y/A, 4369 total yards, 51 total TDs, 7 INTs
I don’t think people realize the lack of NFL talent cam had compared to Burrow with what might be multiple first rounders
His supporting cast was 10x better than Cam’s though.
This is a weird election. Can I get each candidate’s Covid relief plan?
I may be biased...Burrow
AJ McCarron's career, please.
Has a noodle arm
After seeing 2018 Burrow being unable to complete a forward pass against Alabama, I'm still not entirely convinced 2019 Burrow wasn't a body double.
Or Coach O made a deal with the devil, and is now paying for it tremendously.
right but Auburn didn’t have multiple first rounders on that roster
Best season? Burrow
Bet everything you own for a single game? Vince Young
Not to take away from Joe but I feel like the change in scheme mixed with all that talent was kind of a punch in the mouth that most defensive units couldn’t recover from.
Cam was basically a one man show that was brilliant to watch. Dude led like 8 or 9 second half comebacks and drug that otherwise 6 win auburn team to an undefeated title.
Cam couldnt do what Burrow did with that LSU roster
Cam barely beat an Oregon team whose best player was Casey Matthews.
Burrow couldn't have done what Cam did with the LSU roster
I'm just taking Burrow because that was the most impressive passing season I've ever seen in CFB history
This game puts Cam above.
IIRC, Cam played good but not great that game. Fairley rekt us, and we largely shit down our leg
Burrow couldn't have done this
That's fucking Patrick Peterson, by the way.
I just posted a Cam clip. I need to take a shower
Ken Dorsey 2001
That’s one of the best plays ever
also best use of the skycam until the kick six
love Ken Dorsey. Owned a jersey of his. He’s the prime system qb
Trevor Lawrence, 2020: the other two didn't have to compete during a pandemic.
I keep coming back to this.
I voted Cam but it all depends on the team.
If I'm loaded with WR talent and have a good OL, give me Burrow.
If my WRs aren't that good and I need a guy to carry a subpar team, Cam all day. Cam in college was one of the most singularly dominant things I've seen at times.
That Burrow stat line is ridiculous
Ken Dorsey was Frank Costa with way more talent around him.
Best Newton play
The only other player on offense that AU had drafted with Cam was Lee Ziemba in the 7th round.
Newton and Fairley were arguably the two best players in cfb that year. The rest of the team was ridiculously average. Cam wins imo.
Dyer would have been talent wise but he is a shithead
Cam was a man among boys (both his opponents and his teammates).
Burrow was a god too but the difference in personnel and perhaps coaching (although Gus at that particular time was probably the best coach for Cam) are stark.
Joe Burrow in 2010 or Cam Newton in 2019?
It’s Burrow because he was absolutely stellar for every game he played in, can’t remember even a bad half he played. Their defense was also well below what the CFB punditry had considered NC-worthy to that point
Both set a high water Mark for QB play in the SEC in their own ways IMO
Agree that Burrow had a wayyyy superior supporting cast
Cam is the best college player I've ever seen so him
Cam also had to overcome having Gus as OC. Menelaus sorry missed your post above. I know Brady wasn't technically OC but he is a much better coach than Gus.
i find the arguments people are making about cam the most convincing, came into the thread thinking burrow though
The entire face of the game has shifted so dramatically it’s hard to compare.
I want to make sure my team is circumcised.
Cam was the perfect system QB for Gus’ run spread offense tho
much like Dak/Tebow with Mullen
