Well done. I expect y’all should cruise Sunday. Jamaica defense is a wreck and they’ll be forced to play attacking soccer against y’all. There’s gonna be space for days.
Reflections: - Great win, obviously. Especially after conceding so early. The crowd looked and sounded as good as it gets for a soccer match in Canada. - We’ve now come back from conceding first in 4/6 matches, so amazing resilience in the group. - Need everybody to get and stay healthy, because as we saw in Jamaica, our depth isn’t there otherwise. - Next window is massive, especially the Costa Rica match. An opportunity to build cushion with two home matches, in a hopefully chilly Edmonton.
I’d say our depth is there. We had players missing thru injury, suspension and just not being in camp and we picked up two vital points on the road. Both wins came in the third game of a window when teams tire… so I see it as a positive.
Yeah that’s a fair point in that the Jamaica game was a bit of a worst case scenario depth wise. We need Larin/Cavallini/Ayo to get healthy though, because Brym isn’t going to cut it as an attacking sub.
Brym running around like a hockey rat. No need for that. Still feel Arfield needs to be back in the squad…especially in a window with 3 games.
And now some sad news, though not sure what Canada can really do if Romania is willing to cap him at 15
Not a loss imo. At that age you have no idea how he will develop. If someone in his camp is telling him this is a good idea that’s stupid.
Funny thing is the speculation was it might have been Jebbison. For now he’s committed to England but may see a path to international football thru Canada. Especially if we are looking good in the spring. This window is HUGE. My brother is committed and flying to Edmonton to take in both games. The joys of not having a wife and kids. 100% going to Qatar if we get that far.
I’m not that worried about Jebbison. England is stacked and he’s a good prospect playing in League One. A lot of stars have to align for him to be England good in a short amount of time, as I can’t imagine he turns down Canada call-ups for years.
England will try and cap him and then put him on the back burner. Agree not a do or die situation and there seemingly is always a new prospect right around the corner. More interested in the mid prospects that hold dual and can play for Canada. Either way exciting times for the sport in our country.
Temperature should be hovering around 0 by kickoff Friday. Can’t wait to see Costa Ricans enter a stadium with 50k hostile fans and freezing weather. Should be even colder vs Mexico.
They’ve sold over 42,000 tickets for the game on Friday. Should be 50,000 in the stadium. If they can get the full 3 points and Panama loses in Honduras Canada will be in a very solid position moving forward. Fingers crossed.
