I was thinking this too. Loved it overall and think they set the MCU up for a dope-ass phase 5. But I wish they would have fleshed Walker's arch out a little more. They could have definitely benefited from just 2 more episodes. Awesome show overall though. Handled so many heavy topics in such a great way.
I do not think the serums are the same. Cap had an entire procedure done and was injected with several vials. It completely changed his entire body. People who take the serum in this series are enhanced, but I do not think to level of Steve.
Remember, Steve’s serum was only effective due to Stark’s creation of Nitramene which would effectively emit the Vita-Rays required to activate the serum. That’s what led to the physical changes for Steve and why he had to be in a chamber while other super soldiers were injected. (Also why Red Skull mutated from the serum, the Vita-Rays stabilized the formula).
“You don’t think I’ve ever fought for something bigger than myself? That’s all I’ve ever tried to do...and I’ve failed twice.” -Bucky
Even in the Winter Soldier persona (which I think it is has been established is far more deadly than post-brainwash), Bucky was outclassed by Steve. Winter Soldier would have killed these new super soldiers with a quickness. Obviously Steve wouldn't have killed them, but he would have wiped the floor with them. The man held off a punch from Thanos.
They nailed the finale. With the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman, this show was critical for positioning Anthony Mackie to be a focal point of Marvel going forward, and he absolutely nailed it. I loved Steve Rogers and Captain America and after this show I am fully on board with the new Cap and looking forward to seeing him on the big screen. Sam is the modern version of everything Steve stood for.
Hadn’t really thought about it. It’s probably too late to change it back but I’m happy to until Monday or something (like we do with movies)
I liked the second half of the season and how they wrapped a lot of the stuff up. Don't know if I'll ever understand all (or any?) of the Sharon stuff from start to finish, but oh well. Mackie is fantastic and I love that he figures to be in a leading role going forward for any team up opportunities. I felt like the show improved significantly once he took more of the center stage the last 2 episodes.
Feel like you and I tracked throughout this show reading your thoughts week to week. I’m excited to see what comes next from this. Feel like they really did do some good stuff the final couple eps
Regarding Sharon: Spoiler Best theory I have seen out there is she is a Skrull. It has been mentioned in this thread, but I still wanted to spoiler. Her actions in the series, especially the finale, are almost a complete 180 from her character portrayal in all her appearances. Plus it leads into Secret Wars perfectly.
This is ok, but I really don’t this to become a crutch. Already it became kind of annoying as everyone theorized
I know nothing about any of that, which is fine. I just don't understand how her actions in ep3 ultimately make any sense with the reveal in ep6 about the Power Broker.
That is one of the few small issues I have with the show. Why would she try to help Sam and Bucky bring down the new super soldiers if they used to be employed by her and she's trying to get them back? Definite disconnect between her actions earlier in the series and in the finale. Maybe she saw helping take them down would lead to her pardon and ability to get back into her previous role in the government, and the benefits of that outweigh those few super soldiers?
Or why would she kill Selby, immediately put out a hit on Sam/Bucky/Zemo, then kill the people trying to execute said hit to save them, bring them to a party where they could potentially get recognized, then take them to Dr. Nagel (who presumably worked for her) knowing how unpredictable Zemo is and Bucky's feelings on the serum being out there, all while she's fighting/killing more bounty hunters who are there because, again, she put out the hit? Clearly she wanted to find Karli and maybe she thought Sam/Bucky were her best chance of doing that? Again, the show is about Sam/Bucky so I'm not mad about it. I just don't think it makes sense and it felt too 24-ish to me to make her that.
SHIELD being HYDRA in the Winter Soldier was insane! Zemo’s plan in Civil War. Asgard just being it’s people, not a place. Quill’s father being a Celestial, Scott Lang working at 31, Thanos snapping half of existence away. But, Sharon that was spying on Steve Rogers and he had no idea...but her being the power broker...way too unbelievable!
this is still some of the niftiest writing in the MCU, didn’t realize he wanted to kill them all until the reveal
For those of you wanting to hear more from Mackie, this is a great podcast/interview: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/questlove-supreme/id1485250501?i=1000517987390
She now has access to highest level of CIA intel. Madripore is cool but she now runs the f’n world. Just because Sharon can play 4-D chess and you can’t doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense.
Frankly, you’d think the skrulls would already have someone in a high position in the intelligence community of every nation. Not having one in the US until Sharon-Skrull wouldn’t make a lot of sense.
IRT to US Agent's powers... I guess I figured that one thing he was great at was battlefield heroics and hand to hand combat. So taking the serum jacked him up a level more than Bucky or the other super soldiers. That's why he was able to go toe to toe with Bucky/Sam, Carli and everyone else. I think Wyatt Russell was fantastic in this role and I'm really excited about him and JLD showing back up in other MCU properties.
Who says they don't? Having another at a high level position in the CIA with top level clearance certainly isn't going to hurt.
Having two people placed allows one to 1) make sure you’re getting good data and 2) alert you to counterintelligence canary traps
I want sams suit to be more iron man techie than just a flight suit with wings. Still feel his new suit is way behind final iron man/iron spider suits.
Also unlike iron mans suit it doesn’t feel like the current iteration of sams suit makes up for his non enhanced strength/ability which makes it difficult to believe him going toe to toe with enhanced people. All that said I love him in the marvel universe he is one of the top 3 likable personalities.
More so that her line was something like "now we have access to" the government weapons and secrets, like it was a new thing.
I am sure. The Wakandans basically put that together in like a day, from the timeline implied in the show. There will be an upgrade when they are given more time.
