The bolded is mostly why I’ve never considered leasing, not that a car has much left by the end anyways. Both cars I’ve owned I’ve managed to payoff then drive them for a few years after. Obviously having no car payment is nice, but it’s not guaranteed that I could get that lucky every time, and you never know how much money you have to put into it as you own it especially at the end. I don’t drive much, at least I don’t think, I figure if I ever lease and need it for a long drive I can always rent a car too.
Picked up a new Santa Fe last week. My back was hurting being in the car so jumped up to an suv. Loving it and my back feels so much better.
I looked pretty extensively at them, and can definitely see the appeal. At lower trim levels, this thing would kill anything. At the top end, though, you can get so much more for essentially the same price especially since they're going for more than MSRP.
When doing the comps moving to the Sx I agree with you on what you could get. Getting the ex but wanted the premium for the bucket seats. Seeing the night fall in person made me want to pay the extra cost.
2nd row and back, there's nothing that can compete. The Captains chairs and space behind is amazing. For what I was looking at spending, the XC90 just offered a bit more. Still low key jelly every time I see one, though.
Rumor is 4Runner manufacturing moving to El Paso for the ‘23 complete redesign. Next two years might be the last opportunity to get one still made in Japan. Also a lot of rumors about soccer mom engine/transmission replacing the tried and true 5sp V6.
Q5 lease is up in June. Want to get something same size of bigger. Undecided on leasing or buying used. Not completely against buying out my lease buuuuut idk Short list: Telluride (prices are high on used market) Palisade Atlas Cross Sport (ratings vary) XC60 open to others but want to sit around the 35 range max. I wish Genesis was cheaper :(
We got a signature CX-5. Happy with it thus far. Hate that it only recognizes speed limits up to 75 so have to turn off the speeding notifications when driving in oklahoma.
Test drove all those, depends on what you want. Acura was the most fun to drive, Infiniti was biggest and actually has a usable 3rd row if you have kids etc. Ended up buying the QX60 and have been pretty pleased. Also really liked the VW Atlas.
Need to hit some incentives at work to make it happen, but looking at the Tesla SUV. Anyone got one and can give some opinions?
Same. Looked at all these and ended up with the XC60. Dealer gave us a good enough deal to buy new, but imo the best value is with a CPO. And imo the Inscription package is what pushed it across the finish line for us.
My wife had one of those burnt orange Santa Fes and loved it. She'd still have it if we hadn't had a third kid. We have a Palisade now and love it. Enjoy.
Almost has to be. With the EPA regs, a big V8 puts a huge hit on your corporate fuel economy. Even Merc is getting rid of the V8 in the AMG cars (the lower level ones, at least). RE: lease...most people who get a European car do this as a rule now. You can always pay the mileage penalty if you go over, or just negotiate it in to a higher payment. We got our MB wagon for $13k a few years ago with 120k on the clock. It'd had a lot of things done, so it was a good deal. It was an $80k car new (almost every option, and was clearly a custom order), and it was a rare one that was single owner and NOT a lease.
Have a GMC Canyon that will paid off in a year. Really don’t want a car payment but want a full size truck. Dodge or Ford. Ford has like 7 different trim levels and no way I’m paying 80k fro a truck. I do want blind side monitoring and beeps when I get close. My Canyon doesn’t do that and it’s the Denali. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don’t drive much so lease doesn’t scare me but leasing a truck also seems weird.
Used cars are stupid expensive right now. I tried going used but even something a couple years old and 20k miles only saved a few thousand.
the F150 Lariat comes with those items and can usually be had for 45-50k depending on drivetrain and mid or low package I went from a canyon SLT to F-150 Lariat and love it. I really like the new Dodges but they are huge and too long for my garage. The F150 fits with about two inches to spare
Always bought new but if a good deal on used came up I’d take it. GMC is just behind in the tech stuff for me. I went from a 2013 that did all that to a 2019 that only has a cam and was mildly annoyed.
I have a 13 f150 and the tech was behind my wife’s 12 Camry. I am sure it has come a long way. I am selling my truck myself but was going to get about $17k as trade in with 83000 miles.
Yes dodge probably has the best interiors and infotainment right now, but the 2021 Ford caught up. The Ford is more capable too, mine is a 20 with the 3.5L ecoboost and I love it
used car prices up 14% last year. https://apnews.com/article/prices-i...nited-states-c6f8a2a7cf916cbda0d5f112b1260997
I would love an 80 series cruiser and I’ve been on the lookout for one for about a year now but the fiancé wants a newer one for when we have kids which I am totally for.
There's a bunch of guys here in town who buy crappy ones of all generations and fix them up. They are shady as hell and I'm totally convinced that it is a front for money laundering.
They’re the best. Pretty sure a J80 or J100 is my next vehicle, either Toyota or Lexus... but I still have another 100k miles on my 4runner though.
Looking at buying a 2021 Rav 4 Hybrid for the wife. Any opinions/reasons to go elsewhere? If we go non hybrid it will probably be in the CRV/CX5/Rogue category.
She drives a small crossover currently and I don’t think there’s any way in hell I could convince her to drive a car that big. She would probably prefer a HRV or CX30.
i live 2 blocks from a huge car wash so I have the express pass for $25 month just zip thru every Saturday morning
lease ending this summer 2021 nautilus might be the move due to family discounts, seems like a really slick car. corsair too. basically we want a mid size suv and get the ford family discount so highly pushed to stick there.
Starting to take a serious look at the ID.4 and the Mach-e Probably wait a year to let them work out the bugs, tho
Highlander is pretty big. My folks have one and it is very nice, but I can't imagine someone buying it that didn't have a bunch of kids. Which is ironic since they obviously don't have any kids at home.
