1. What does it need? 2. Why are you taking it to a dealer when you should take it to an independent mechanic?
Wanted a dealership inspection, but yeah I’m taking it elsewhere. Decided to fix what I can for cheaper and then just drive it into the ground.
Find a good indy. Those aren't bad cars at all. I'm sure you can put another 100k on it easily. Treat yourself to a good detail, too. It's like $500 for something really top notch, and it'll seem like a new car.
I own a stock 2001 4runner limited with 115k miles on it. Considering selling and purchasing a 2006/2007 LX470 or doing a light overhaul on the 4runner because I love it. Any recommendations on how to source or find private listings for 06/07 LX470s? looking for something low mileage in a state that doesn't salt roads to avoid rust
A low mileage LX would be the price of a new 4runner wouldn’t it? Unless you just really want the LX. When I was in for service last week a lady had a pristine older white one that she was discussing trading in to Greenville. I know they had a few used ones on the lot
My mistake -- low mileage relative to the current 4runner so something in the 80-140k miles range. I've seen pricing around $16-21k. I like the body style and overland potential. I'm driving mostly paved roads now but the 06/07 has active height control that gets great reviews on ride comfort on paved or offroad without having to mess with a lift. This one has 180k miles but I'd love to get closer to 100k. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2006-lexus-lx470-55/
Something to consider at that mileage you’d be needing to replace the components of the active height control. Those LX are one of my favorite body styles ever. Plenty of parts and aftermarket
Really trying to figure out what to get in the wagon/compact SUV department. Need a decent amount of space but nothing crazy. Mainly want strong technology in the vehicle for longer road trips. Don’t care about appearance too much. AWD would be a plus but not necessary. Gas mileage is whatever. Was looking at the CX-50, Hyundai Tucson, Chevy Trax, CR-V, and Kia Sportage. Anything I’m missing besides Subaru that’s worth looking at?
My son drives a ‘24 Sportage and loves it if that helps. If you’re looking for a nice tech package the GV70 by Genesis had a shit load.
I really like the new wilderness trim for the Subaru Forester. Only negative is an underpowered engine.
Dis my car but in blue. Have never had an issue with engine but I drive pretty conservatively. 5-10 over speed limit and never make risky passes.
About 24 on average. Not a super long commute. Not much highway miles where we live in Dallas though as construction and traffic usually has everything around 45-50mph anyways. Plus the last 2 cars before it were another Outback and a Forester so we don’t know much different on fas milage.
Friend was having this exact same debate amongst this group of vehicles and went Hybrid CR-V and is loving it.
Between this and the CR reviews, I think I'm locked on the Forester. If I have any further questions, I might DM you.
New owner of a Palisade Calligraphy and really love the technology upgrades from my 2017 4Runner. I previously mentioned that the 4Runner needed at least $1k worth of maintenance and I was surprisingly able to get the dealership to give me the KBB trade in value. Best part is that MSRP was just north of $55k on the Palisade, and I knew I was getting about $1,300 of rebates, but when they completed the final purchase paperwork, they listed the sales price as $52,700. Not sure where the extra rebate came from but I sat there silently and let them sign first, so overall was a great buying experience and I feel like I got lucky with the timing with car prices doing who knows what if/when tariffs stick
I mean, at this point, $1k of maintenance is basically filter changes and there's a shortage of used cars. Don't let people talk you down much on a used trade-in that's in decent shape (and 4Runners are a cult, so that helps)
i literally leased a new X7 on Monday at 9% off msrp and base MF. thank jeebus. edit: the car came from south carolina so does that make it exempt?
I have the Crown sedan and like it a lot. I got a good lightly used deal on it since large sedans don't hold their value as much as other body styles. The Crown is boring to drive, and that's fine by me. Ride quality, interior comfort, and fuel efficiency are my priorities since I mostly drive in city traffic or on long highway trips. I would have bought the Crown Signia for the cargo space if Toyota released it earlier.
I'm overthinking this an embarassing amount - these are steel wheels under the hubcap right? Not alloy wheels? Spoiler: wheel
Thanks. Im looking at black wheel covers on Amazon, I like the look. Had to understand to get steel or alloy
