Yep. See their overwhelming support for the outrageous abuses/theft of civil asset forfeiture. Has always driven me crazy. I do give credit to GOP legislatures in places like Nebraska and Montana that actually held strong small government views on forfeiture and eliminated it.
Anyone trying to call this guy a domestic terrorist is purposefully trying to divorce that term from its actual meaning, probably because they don’t like who that term is appropriately applied to
https://heavy.com/news/darrell-brooks-jr/ Darrell E. Brooks Jr. of 19th Street has open charges filed November 5, 2021, in Milwaukee courts for resisting an officer (misdemeanor), felony bail jumping, second degree recklessly endangering safety (felony) with domestic abuse assessments, disorderly conduct and battery (both misdemeanors, also with domestic abuse assessments.) He posted $1,000 cash bail on November 19, 2021. In this case, according to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he is accused of intentionally running over a woman with his vehicle as she “was walking through a gas station parking lot after he had followed her there after a fight.”
I’m interested to see the charges on this one. Intent can be so hard to prove, especially in something like this, but man it seemed like he tried to hit those people.
It was posted earlier that police and witnesses confirmed that an officer did fire a shot at the vehicle as he was fleeing after he already ran over the people. Race doesn’t matter then (obviously it should never matter for the police). That seems like a logical and justifiable reason for an officer to fire at a suspect’s vehicle. I think there could be an even simpler explanation for backing in the driveway. Being panicked after what happened and not thinking clearly or smartly, he could’ve backed in thinking it would hide his license plate from view. Because he would think that out of all those people someone likely got the number.
Sadly true. This board is horrible at trying so hard to be the country’s moral compass. Blaming the system for him being a piece of shit just because he is black is crazy. who gives a shit about the race? Wait for facts and call the situation what it is.
A law enforcement official told The Washington Post that suspect Darrell Brooks, 39, was at the scene of a reported knife fight, then sped away in the red SUV when police arrived at that scene. Brooks was allegedly behind the wheel when it drove into the parade route. Per the Chief in the press conference: not a terrorist event and the PD was not in pursuit of the individual. Don't remember the details, but there was a call over the police scanner about a fight potentially involving knives 5-10 minutes before the event happened.
I feel like you two are just pretending to read the thread you wish you were reading. Where has any of this happened itt?
That’s what I was expecting. Nobody to blame but himself. I hope he never has another day out of prison.
Eh, let’s wait a bit before buying the police version 100%. They don’t have a good track record of telling the truth in these press conferences. (There’s still no excuse for plowing through a parade of people).
Right, so I keep reading, and re-reading that post and I just can't seem to find the part where race is mentioned.
No. Spoiler I didn’t care if the police were chasing him. He made a conscious decision to drive through a parade and kill people, and from the video, I believe intentionally. Police version seems to line up with the videos anyway.
Only thing I can remember was the sad race baiting attempt about him being taken into custody. Thankfully most everybody ignored it. Thought it was a pretty good thread for not jumping to conclusions.
This is a good point as well, though going into a public area with many people using their camera, seems like something we would have seen already.
Per the PC: Not a terrorist event PD was not in pursuit of the vehicle 48 victims total 5 counts of 1st degree intentional homicide There was a "disturbance" prior to the incident involving the suspect. No details as PD didn't make it there. Suspect arrested without injury No evidence the parade was a target Amazing response from the community to rush the injured to the hospitals Many first responders/hospital workers at parade, which helped in the triage Ages of victims: 52-81, though I've seen different ranges elsewhere No future press conference expected currently, all updates via their social media.
Who is blaming the system? The only people talking about the system are right wing nuts saying he should have been in jail pending charges that any white person would have been out on bail for.
Same reason domestic terrorist was used from the beginning. It’s the same formula each and every time. No one just waits for facts.
I can’t believe I’m responding to dbl but ftr, I don’t think it makes me a right wing nut job to not be happy with $1,000 bond for intentional homicide. And at the time, we didn’t know the race, but it’s not surprising you plugged it in there.
Top of previous page. Bro anytime anyone commits a crime while out on bail people say he should have never been out. It’s a common reaction when people have there lives turned upside down by a known criminal. As normal it is getting turned into taking political shots. Team politics is great!
Considering a previous charge of his is running someone over with a car, what are the chances he knew he was going to jail after the knife incident and he figured he’d do something crazy?
I don’t think he was out on intentional homicide charges. I think that’s what he’s charged with now. $1,000 for homicide is ridiculous. A DWI costs more than that for bail.
They should update the AP article then. “Online court records showed a person named Darrell Brooks, with a birthdate making him 39, has two open criminal cases in Milwaukee County. In one case, filed Nov. 5, he is charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, reckless homicide, disorderly conduct, bail jumping and battery. Records show $1,000 bond was posted on Friday.”
is this real or a bad joke? I didn't forget to type or capitalize anything. I am posting on TMB. But if I am going to join in some dumb argument, I would at least ctrl+f for the word intentional, you dumb fuck
you're arguing we shouldn't talk about bail because some people are too emotional to have that conversation? huh?
Arguing that we should have stricter bail because this guy was out on a low bail and then committed another criminal act is so ridiculously short-sighted. This is like when an immigrant commits a violent crime, and then we talk about restricting immigration further, even though contrary to public perception, there are lower felony arrest rates among undocumented immigrants compared to legal immigrants and native-born US citizens.
Why does the dollar amount matter? Would you feel better if he posted $1m? Kyle Rittenhouse was out on bail for worse charges, including reckless and intentional homicide. Weird how the same people saying this guy shouldn't have been out didn't have much to say about Rittenhouse being out.
I’ve meet my quota of replying to you after this one. As I mentioned it’s near the top of page 4. If you don’t want to go back and look then I don’t really care because I’m not going back and forth with you.
And it took some insane q conspiracy theorists to crowdfund $2 million for his bail. If not for those types of people he probably wouldn’t have posted it.
So you knew exactly what you were doing when you posted it. The level to which you don’t understand f how prison time for drug charges that aren’t even illegal in certain states changes the type of person you are is why your point is so fucking stupid. Is he a horrible person who should now spend the rest of his life in jail? Definitely. The question is if he were trying to evade arrest because he didn’t want to spend more time in jail after doing three stints for the crime of possessing a plant is a question people should be asking in this shitty ass country.
