just as much a record for me as you guys. guaranteed to pay out :gfa:

Picked team has the points after their name for noobs

    Oregon +5.5 Boise State
    NC State -3.5 South Carolina
    Cal -21 Maryland

VT +6.5 but Bama money will probably push that up to like 9 by the 4th, so I'll wait.

Will update this thread soon with a lengthy explanation for each game just to show (or fool you into thinking) I'm not full of shit

I like all of those except for Cal. I'll explain why later. I can't believe you're willing to lay that many points with a team that's not a powerhouse this early in the year. I'm not saying that they won't whip em', I normally lay off 3 td plus spreads on week one just because of all of the variables.

I'd stay away from that one.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the VT/UA game. Let's put it this way, I was 11-3 ATS in Alabama games and I am never afraid to bet against them. I usually catch a lot of hell but if I see an edge I'm taking it (i.e. Utah game)

Solid picks...the only concern I have is the Cal/maryland pick...I'm a Clemson (ACC) guy and the terps are pretty unpredictable....I will, however tell you that Clemson is the EASIEST team to bet on. I will NEVER bet against them but when we're favored at home...we don't cover. Our first game of the year vs. Middle Tennesse state would be a GREAT time to bet against us to cover, under the ttl, and then just find another game and win a 3-game parlay....

Probably going to add to the card:

    Oklahoma -21 BYU
    Texas -39 Louisiana-Monroe
    Oklahoma State Georgia +6

    Explanation for all coming

I like all the picks but Cal and UT covering.

Like a previous poster said, it's iffy to bet on 3 TD+ wins in week 1.

I agree insofar as the doubt re: the Cal spread, but Texas is known for covering these huge lines in their week 1 games. And not to use that flimsy trend as the basis of the argument, those within the Texas program believe Mack will go against his nature and purposefully run the score up against scrubs so a last year doesn't happen again.

Also, the second year in Muschamp's system with an entire returning secondary and Sergio Kindle should relegate LA-Monroe to less than 14 points. And do you see Texas - returning everybody - scoring less than 55? I don't

    Final Card for Week 1

    Connecticut
    Ohio +3

Ohio is the better team even before UConn lost both starting safeties for this game.

    Nevada
    Notre Dame -14

Nevada returns a terrible pass defense and Notre Dame returns arguably the best receiving corps in the country and a Junior QB with enough talent. ND also returns their entire offensive line and their starting running game, also their tight end to boot. However, most importantly, John Tenuta will truly coordinate the defense this year. Look for his elaborate blitzing schemes to befuddle and stymie Nevada's offense. The pistol won't be a concern, as it's simply a minor quirk on a standard offensive set; and Tenuta has had all year to prepare for it anyway. Look for Weis to run the score up and get the offense fully revved for Michigan in week 2.

    Georgia +5
    Oklahoma

Offensive and Defensive lines. Georgia may have the most talented groups in the SEC at both, respectively. The Dawgs will control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Joe Cox won't be asked to do more than he needs to, and the Pokes don't have the talent at DB or DL to take advantage of his questionable arm or lack of experience.

    Baylor
    Wake Forest -2

Wake returns a 13th year senior Quarterback and their offensive line. They've got a typical Junior and Senior laden defense that's well drilled. More importantly, they've got the size in the middle to sell out against the spread. Aside from Griffon, Baylor is publicly overrated.

    Minnesota -6.5
    Syracuse

Minnesota is an underrated team going against a very depleted Syracuse unit that's starting a QB who hasn't played in 4 years. Under a touchdown? Yes thank you.

    BYU
    Oklahoma -22

Oklahoma has the talent, scheme, and dominant defensive line to shut BYU down offensively. BYU doesn't have the defensive line talent to take advantage of OU's suspect offensive line (which will, however, come into play later in the season). Bradford will have time to throw to a WR, RB, and TE ensemble that is leagues above what BYU can bring at LB and DB. The game is being played in Oklahoma's #1 recruiting territory and the city that hosts a very large majority of its fans and alumni. Jerry World will not be a neutral site.

    Alabama
    Virginia Tech +7.5

The total is 38 and the line is 7.5? Thank you, Alabama money. Bud Foster preys on first year quarterbacks and Jason Woriilds should dominante whichever rook LT with whom they match him up. Nick Saban teaches a pattern-reading secondary scheme that still forces the DBs to watch the WRs, not Tyrod. He should scramble for a few very key first downs against a big - but not as fast as he - front seven. I like Bama to win, but definitely not by more than a TD, more like 14-10
    All wagers 1 unit

Still pondering the NC State and Oregon games. Will likely tease them but don't know yet. Might just take the evening off and enjoy the first night worry-free.
