At #UofSC there's this "CS Lewis House" on campus which is some Christian thing where I guess you can hang out and fraternize with fellow Christians. It's in like an old house on campus. Anyway, they have cats that live there and they all have names from CS Lewis stuff like Caspian. Today I discovered they have their own Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/cslewiscats/ Really wanting to pet Perpetua
Also, when your cat is all good to go, you should immediately goad it into trying to bite you. It's quite the mindfuck , as is seeing your cat yawn the first few times.
Due to recent break up, down from 3 cats to 1 cat (I adopted one after distance began due to missing cats). It has been shitty, but since the breakup, Daisy has been more cuddly, outgoing, playful. I wonder if this is a reflection of my freedom, and i wonder if they respond to your energy/feelings, or what is truly good for you. Perhaps cats can sense these things. Miss playing with the other cats by pet cube play though. Highly recommend it. Pet Cube Play 2 has been announced, and its going to have alexa integrated.
that is such a helpless feeling, these damn cats could be anywhere. we've shut ours in the coat closet on a couple occasions, literally had it open for 10 seconds just from getting inside and hanging up our keys.
While I agree to an extent I do think they sense your mood/emotions to an extent as well. If something is wrong, Bryant seems to sense it and lie on us more. Also when we are sick and weak he will steal water/food from us which he normally wouldn’t
I just picked up René today Edit: trying to upload pictures but the files are too large. I’ll figure it out later
Open up the photo on your phone then take a screen shot and upload it that way. You can also crop the screen shopped photo if the file is still too big.
Meet Mars, newest member of the household. We pick him up from the humane society on thurs after he gets fixed.
Nice. Looks like the 3 legged homeless cat I feed; only cat in the neighborhood that my cat gets along with. They’re the handicap squad (my cat has no teeth). Does anyone have suggestions for snagging up a feral cat that needs to be neutered? Have no idea what fixing a feral cat entails. Would they even let me release him back into my neighborhood? He takes off whenever I’m within 5 or so feet of him, despite the fact that I’ve been feeding him handsomely with my cat’s soft food through the brutal winter we had. Luka maybe?
You’d need a trap to catch him - might check if there are any TNR (trap, neuter, release) rescuers in the area that could help
Looks like humane society or aspca like organization will let you borrow a humane trap for a refundable deposit or a few bucks in most areas. Also, most places around KC will fix them and give them shots/etc for around $30-40 for strays. Can either pay it or check with local TNR for help with cost and transportation of the animal. If tell them you will pay for it i think it would be easy to find someone to do it for you.
I’m fine with paying for whatever it takes to get this all done. And facilitating the TNR process. Is there a way I can ensure the cat gets released back into my neighborhood? Can I pick him back up and release him on my own? He’s my cat’s bestie.
I think they typically do unless there’s an immediate danger threat (some asshole threatening them, etc.) since they’re used to the area, etc.
Usually the local humane society should be able to help you with TNR. Do you spend a lot of time sitting outside where he can see you? We recently did this and that’s what it took. We just spent a lot of time near him and eventually he let us pet him. Meet Wild Bill He hunts all day and sleeps at night with us now. So far he’s killed 3 mice and a baby snake.
Very adventurous and happy. He hasn’t stopped purring since we picked him up. Loves to nuzzle. Totally different from our other two felines, all three were strays but he’s immediately taken to people. It’ll be a process integrating him. One of the cats seems fine, the other wants nothing to do with him, and both dogs are way too big and energetic to introduce them right away, so we’re going to be playing musical rooms for awhile till everyone calms down.
He’s got a different bow tie for every occasion. Por exemplo, Halloween: And the female cat wears flowers:
We started doing it with the gray one because she’s an elite hider, so we put a collar with a bell on it to prevent us from accidentally locking her in a closet or bathroom. Tried it with the black one too but he’s so active that it kept us up at night. Our new house doesn’t have as many hiding spots so we ditched the bells and went with bows. They also let us put harnesses on them so we can take them outside. The black one will go for a walk on a leash, but it’s a pretty slow process and we usually don’t make it out of the yard.
I swear I’ll stop photobombing the thread. We’re really worried about our pointer around the kitten because her prey drive is so strong and she terrorizes the other cats. So far it’s going completely opposite from what we expected.
