Gang I'm not sure where else to turn here. Just bought a new house, and the 10 year old cat can't stop/won't stop pooping in the basement. --Different spot in the basement each time --Have two litter boxes for him and his brother that I clean every 1-2 days --No peeing. Only pooping --Tried giving wet food in case it was constipation, and he just beefed gnarly sauce turds in the basement for a week I'm starting to hate this motherfucker. Anyone dealt with similar? I'll hang up and listen
Both of em in the basement utility room. There's absolutely nowhere to put them upstairs that wouldn't make us disgusting people
Put the box wherever the cat poops/spends most of its time. Our eldest cat started pooping on our master bath rugs when we got the dogs cause she didn’t feel comfortable making it to litter box. Put a second box in the bathroom and all is well. Also, even w 2 boxes for 2 cats (and now w 3 cats), I clean the box religiously at least once a day if not twice. If one of the cats is lazy about burying the shit, they can get super picky about using it.
Yeah that's kinda the issue cuz he's beefin on the carpet in the main room of the basement and id rather not have a litter box just hanging out down there. I actually picked up some motion sensor alarm thing. Slight it will work, but hey why the hell not
Back in 2002 I had the honor of getting the two cat boxes in the moving truck cab with me as we moved from Westwood to Aptos. Little Tamerlane meowed the whole time, constant plaintive little yelps. After an hour in traffic on the 405/5 I hear Cyrus let out a long low deep-throated Mrrrroooooooowwwwwwrrrrrrrr that lasted several seconds. Didn't make a peep from him the rest of the way.
- put a litter box in/near the room where he’s pooping - plug in a Feliway in/near that room this worked for our two cats who both started pooping in the middle of a bedroom floor when we moved earlier this year
ole girl somehow managed to get poop on her tail and wiped it on like 3 of our rugs last night... Merry Christmas
So, I have two 5 months old kittens, and they never sleep more than 3 hours in a row. Is there anything to do? Nights have been pretty rough for the last few months.
Just confine them to a part of the house where they won’t wake you...doesn’t stop when they’re grown I’ve learned to ignore, older cat moves around in the night but knows not to meow or climb in the bed with me
I live in a relatively small apartment, so them running around, jumping everywhere, clawing at stuff, playing with whatever they find or simply walking on my face 3 hours into my sleep kinda does it... I know they’re kittens, so they’re gonna do their thing, but was looking for sleeping tricks, I guess.
I’d have to keep them in the bathroom overnight (where they’d ravage everything). What do you do when they meow/walk on you? Put them back down everytime? Watergun?
we very literally bought something like this for kitten periods, set it up in a spare room with food/water/litter for night time or when leaving the house so they wouldn't get into trouble/hurt themselves
They dont stop. I lock our cats in the basement every night. I feed them downstairs before bedtime. They would be at our bedroom door at 5am meowing to be fed if we didn't do it.
Are you keeping them out of the light? Are you giving them water? Most importantly, are you feeding them after midnight?
Think that might be it? I normally feed them around 10-11 when I wake up and then around midnight-1 when I get back from work. Will try to feed them before leaving instead.
Ours was banned from free feeding because he’d literally lay down in front of his feeder and rotate eating and napping 24/7. Now the free feeder is only for when we’re out of town.
When our cats were 6-8 months old, they were unholy terrors. The witching hour would last through the night, and they got into literally everything. We just closed our bedroom door and put on a sound machine, and they eventually grew out of it (after breaking 2 lamps in the middle of the night.) Now we don’t hear a peep from them when the lights are out.
Our cats would put their paw up the feeder & push the gate open and get more food. They also broke a spring timed feeder.
We have 2 that can but the 3rd will eat himself into the emergency room if we let him. Makes feeding such a pain in the ass.
we go on lots of trips and being able to just have someone come every 4 days to refill bowls is a blessing
For trips we separate them and leave the glutton with an auto feeder. It’s more of an inconvenience when we’re home and they’re together, because we have to make sure the free feeders get enough food. They’d prefer to snack throughout the day but he’ll crush everything in sight.
Not proud of it, but yelled at him twice and “bopped” him on the nose very lightly...he was mad at me for a minute, then knew not do it again Couch is for chilling with me, not the bed
Neighbor’s cat, “Mr.Fatz” adopted us when we moved in to our house last year. After I installed the cat door for our two cats, it was over. He became a full time resident. He’d try to get in our house at all costs. I was literally like Fred Flintstone throwing cat out and it immediately jumping back through the window. One of the most docile, confident, nonchalant cats I’ve ever been around. I always said he was like a ghost because he was so quiet and chill. A few months ago he’d been wheezing heavily, the neighbors said it was his allergies, but they took him for a precautionary checkup and the blood work came back fine. The Mrs. saw him sitting in the rain a few days ago and it was obvious he wasn’t feeling well, so she carried him to the neighbors. They put him down today after X-rays revealed advanced tumors throughout his body. Super sad day and we’re going to miss him a lot. Lost a legend today.
