Sounds like something wrong with the cat. If they are sick they might not go in the litter box. With the puking, they might be having problems digesting food. This happens with cats that get fed only dry food. You can just add some water to the dry food, or mix wet food into it.
We leave a bowl of dry food out for our cats to eat whenever. Then we give wet food morning and night time. Works out well for us.
no problem. I have an older cat that got dry food all of her life with no issues. Then she started throwing up a lot about a year ago and the vet said that older cats can have problems digesting just dry diet. Started putting water in her food and it stopped immediately. I'm sure it could go for any age with some cats too though.
not really sure that you can "train" a cat not to mess with your furniture. you can provide better options for scratching but when you're away, it's going to do what it wants. also keep their water and their food in separate places. i dont know why, but cats will avoid drinking out of a water bowl next to a food bowl if at all possible.
Should change thread title to "This thread is making the whole forum smell like cat piss even though the posters ITT won't admit it"
This is MJ. In this picture my wife was packing for Jamaica and she was sitting on her clothes not wanting her to go. She is 8 now but I bought her for my girlfriend(now wife) when she was 3 months old. My wife was starting law school at UF and needed a buddy. Four years later we are married and she became our pet. I never had been around cats but she is awesome. Very much like a dog in that she loves to play, plays fetch, meets us at the door and always wants to sit on someone's lap. Was litter trained from day one and is never mean.
I can't put cups of water on my bedside table because bitch has laser site on those things. Will be face deep about 10 seconds after I put it there.
My Chewbacca. Best of the three cats I've owned. She was a stray and evidently was taken from her mother very young because she's very small compared to most cats. We got her when she was a few months old, my cousin has one of her brothers. She has taken her share of her abuse from our young daughters, but she has never taken a swipe at them (she was never declawed). She's an absolute sweetheart. Wouldn't trade her for anything.
I had a long-hair orange tabby in college (happily lives with my parents now). Got him as a kitten, and he was fine solo. Kittens are the best part about having a cat, I'd probably go for one on its own. My cat was never depressed, nor did he destroy my apartment. Get whatever cat you get fixed ASAP. Keep it indoors. It won't destroy your furniture if you have adequate shit for it to scratch on. Declawing is pretty inhumane - they cut off part of each toe. You don't need to do it.
Could just be a shitty cat thing. If it was completely feral, it was likely not trained for the litter box.
God, this thread. "5x longer, so you can stand living in your cats piss and poop for five times as long*" *WARNING: Your house will smell like shit and piss to anyone that visits
You're in the Internet on the Mainboard, asking why there's a stupid argument about a personal preference? Where do you get your weed?
I have another feral cat living under the house, drives the dog nuts because she can smell it. First one I had living on my property was here for around 7 years, eating field mice and enjoying all the cover and hiding places on my acreage. I think it got old and ran off to die, it looked like death in its later years, long knotted black hair. This new one is fairly young from what I can tell, grey tabby that's gotten a lot bigger since I noticed it for the first time 5-6 weeks ago. Not a cat person but I love the rodent control so I'll do anything in my power to keep it around and happy. All the dog has done to control the mice is catch them outside and bring them inside, alive, l then I spend the next two hours playing find the mouse while cussing at the dog.
Have two cats Found this guy when he was about 3 mths old. He is a bobtail, but the vet seems to think he may have some bobcat in his genes. His hind legs are extremely long and his nose is really wide. Had to put him on behavioral medicine when my daughter was born, due to the change at the house. Dude will only drink water out of the sink and will not eat anything besides catfood and ice cream. This one has been with me since he was born. Completely opposite, will eat absolutely anything
Here's my little bundle of affection. His name is Simee, he's a very loving kitty. Had him close to four years, but he spends most of his time with my grandfather. I should go visit more, I'm a bad parent/grandson
Team World's Best litter. Not much in the way of odor masking, but I figure the corn-based dust won't cause lung cancer and, most importantly, you can flush it down the toilet. Fuck having to carry a turd outside to the trash every time Prudence takes a shit (and she drops some fucking logs - like grown man sized - some times). Also... calicos are the best...
Found out this week that our 17 y/o has cancer in her jawbone. It's eaten away the bone in the whole left side of her jaw and is up in her nasal cavity. Nothing can be done except make sure she's comfortable. The vet pulled all her teeth on that side so maybe she can eat some soft stuff. She acts just like normal though, nothing seems to be bothering her. Just a matter of time though.
Sorry to hear. My cat in March we found out she had breast cancer and we paid 3k for a masectomy it was pretty gnarly she had sutres all the way up and down her body........but she's recovered and back to normal now
