Give her some time! Gizmo has one of these big cat trees too that we got him for his 9th birthday. I put all of his toys up in it.
Visited a book store yesterday in Savannah, GA that has 4 cats that live there. We met 3 of them. Here are 2
Guys I’ve lost control of the situation. Local cat sanctuary was shut down by some activists, couple weeks ago we got these ferals to rehome as outsides: Then Mrs Pokes finds a kitten on a hike today and can’t locate the mother: For those keeping score, that makes six. Six cats. I have six cats at my house. They outnumber the people and dogs combined. Send halp pls
“I don’t think we should keep it! So-and-so already said they might take it.” I’m never getting rid of it, am I?
Woke up this morning to an empty bird feeder and a bunch of feathers on the deck railing just above where a birdhouse hangs that a chickadee was living in. Raccoon is getting the Liam Neeson Taken speech. I will find you, I will kill you
I don’t know what to do. Haven’t slept for more than few hours a night for the last two weeks. I’m fried, sobbing, full of rage at the casualness of the people I’ve spoken to trying to find him care, fighting with my wife bc she’s upset that I wasn’t “engaged” in our weekend with friends over. My boy Artie had his second blocked UT and needs PU surgery - but there literally aren’t enough surgeons. I’ve called everywhere from Richmond to Charlotte. Everywhere is booked out at least a month for a fucking consult! A consult?! Just super causal about an issue they know is life or death within days. $500/day in care bc he has a catheter in and can’t pee on his own, no 24hr vets near me so I’m transferring him daily for the last two weeks between his regular vet during the day and the overnight emergency vet. This hurts so fucking bad. Just want to hit the reset button.
Not sure if feasible but Blue Pearl in Atlanta is great and has capacity, just had an emergency surgery for my dog there.
Thanks for the rec. My vet made some calls for me and we’re going to North Carolina State Vet school tomorrow, guess I’m a #North Carolina State Wolfpack fan now.
I work the area around the vet school, so I’ll wave. One of the best vets in the world, so they’ll take care of you.
No problem - if your appt doesn't work out, to be more specific it's this Blue Pearl in Atlanta which has the best surgeons, there are multiple: https://bluepearlvet.com/hospital/sandy-springs-ga/
Turns out it wasn’t bloody and dying. So now we have a healthy chipmunk on the loose in the house. It came out once and nobody could catch it. (I’m the one that does this kind of work, but I’m currently laid up and can’t help.)
That reminds me of when I was a kid and a juvenile possum came in through the cat door in the garage, presumably trying to get at the cat food that was a few feet away. It was just pure chaos with the possum running all over and our two cats trying to fuck it up
The disappointing part is the half outdoor cat that brought it in was just standing there staring at the chipmunk like “What? I brought it inside on purpose. I did my job.” I was hoping she’d catch it so we could take it from her.
When our cat was younger she brought in chipmunks without really hurting them. They'd escape somewhere and I'd hear my wife scream bloody murder randomly. Those rodents are so incredibly stupid, multiple times I would get them moving towards an open door only for them to run into another room.
Said goodbye to my cat early this morning. Was able to pet her as she passed. Was not anticipating being this sad about it. She’s an absolute lap monster and constantly wanted to be around me. I guess never truly understood how integral she was to my daily life. It’s definitely going to take some adjusting to
Bought a Havahart trap and the chipmunk got trapped a few days later. My kids and I released the chipmunk down at the creek so it wouldn’t just get eaten by our cat.
I have like 8 in my backyard digging holes everywhere. Currently debating the humane vs deadly approach
My “outdoor” cat eats/kills that many in a weekend. She has decimated the rodent population in her territory (a 3-4 house stretch).
When I was growing up, our cats used to leave the decapitated bodies of chipmunks behind a bush at the front of the house.
E Shaver's! I discovered it on a Savannah trip last month too. Looks like I was there just a few days before you
said goodbye to the cat I got in college this morning. Aggie was almost 17. she had a mass in the back of her throat and hadn’t been able to eat for a few days. luckily we are able to use the option of an in-home service because she hates the vet, and the animal hospital was a horrific experience with the cat we lost last year. I was 19 when I got her. I was six months from meeting my wife (and 4.5 years from convincing her to go out with me) and tmb was still more than 2 years from being started. EMAW FC, me, and 2 other roommates had her, then she lived in a succession of crappy college houses before ending up with me and my wife. I was lucky to be able to pay her back for the rough start in life as a college cat, as she lived in continually nicer homes and we were able to afford thyroid and kidney medication since 2016 to help her live a longer life. I will miss her but I’m glad she’s at peace.
Love this old kidney diseased bish. Put her on kidney diet over a year ago, and it's been stymied for the time being. She still has lots of energy and appetite. Still only 6ish lbs though.
This is my little baby Stu and he got his four canines cut out today due to tooth resorption disease. He’s normally groomed to the nines, but the sedation and novocain has him all kinds of fucked up. The vet said he is healthy as an ox for a 15 year old and his mouth should recover nicely. Edit: oh yeah $1014 yay
Our newest kitten. Another rescue: Banana. IDK how old they or what they identify as so for now Banana is a they
it’s not because 1 I am joking and 2 Banana is too young for us to tell if it’s a male or female and I didn’t want to write it/she/he and 3 I didn’t think anyone would think I was being serious with me not knowing what he/she identifies as.
