Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** After facing Hawaii's pistol scheme in his first start at the position, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound sophomore is looking forward to plugging gaps against Virginia's pro-style offense. The Cavaliers feature 6-3, 255-pound running back Keith Payne. "Now, that's exciting," Kennard said, eyes brightening. Kennard did not get many opportunities to make plays at or behind the line of scrimmage at Hawaii, where he was forced to drop into deep coverage. He was penalized for pass interference on one play and just missed tipping away a pass on another. Kennard said he graded out well overall in the opener, but he has worked this week to strengthen his pass-coverage technique. "I was in perfect position, so it's not a huge, taxing change I needed to make," he said. USC's defense also could be strengthened by the return of end Nick Perry, who appears on track to play after sitting out the opener because of a high ankle sprain. "I'll be back," said Perry, who had eight sacks last season. The Trojans also might be bolstered by the return of T.J. Bryant, who took multiple reps at cornerback and the nickel spot because freshman Nickell Robey was limited. Preparing for Dowling The Trojans expect Virginia cornerback Ras-I Dowling to play Saturday after sitting out the Cavaliers' victory over Richmond because of a hamstring injury. Dowling, 6-2 and 200 pounds, is regarded as a top pro prospect and would provide a good test for USC receiver Ronald Johnson, who caught three touchdown passes against Hawaii. "I would think this would be a game he would be excited about, especially to match up with Ronald," Kiffin said.
Re: The ACC's Last Hope **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Well it's a bad day for The ACC. We will cover the spread for sure tonight!
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Where in the fuck did we pull that performance from?
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** London has the guys jacked up. They are playing a lot faster and hitting a lot harder than I've seen in a while. Lot's of missed opportunities and the game could have been a lot cleaner. The refs blew calls for both teams though. I will happily accept this as a moral victory and hope this is something to build on.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Boise St only beat VT by 3, JMU beat VT by 5...
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** USCFootball.com guys put this video together. http://rivals.yahoo.com/video/college-football/virginia-falls-just-short-at-usc-757050?NICK_NAME=HOOSINSC&LEVEL=2&TIME=1284330675&SIG=9f8544e311992bfc94b726116a220160 Also 4 * OT Donovan Smith enjoyed the game last night.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Thought you guys looked pretty good last night. Like I said earlier in this thread, I really like your coach and think he is going to get yall competing in the ACC again. Always liked your program and can't wait for next year for my first trip to UVA.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Thanks man. It was a shame we let it get away from us, but definitely good to see us competing well with a good team. Mike London is the real deal - couldn't be happier with him. Glad we get a bye week + VMI next two weeks, if we get dowling and mccleod back for conference play, we might prove a lot of critics wrong.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Thanks Duck, London is a big change in our program. He could be very special. The game should be at the best time of year in VA. Autumn in VA is amazing. Should be a fun trip.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** hearing you guys might be getting a pretty legit transfer comin in. if this has been discussed on your rivals or scout board, i apologize
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** I haven't heard anything yet... I haven't been over to rivals since earlier today. Anthony Lalota was mentioned??
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** not who i heard, hit me up with a PM
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** hit me up with a PM if you wanna know
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Timmy's out for the year. gonna take his redshirt
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** fuck man. I mean at least he's getting the RS, but I hope this doesn't set him back - seemed to be having confidence issues early on.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** What happened to him? I haven't heard anything about this.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Tim Smith It hurts wen u can't do sumthing that u really wanna do and live for :/.. It's all good tho nxt year I'll b bak betta than Eva believe that...20 Joon you ok? Tim Smith Nah I'm done for the season
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** I thought I read he was in a walking boot a week or so ago.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Yea I heard about the walking boot too. If it's a bad ankle sprain or something it may be best to just sit and rest instead of being hobbled all year. He was the 3rd WR this year it seems.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** yeah Inman's come on in a big big way, so it could be worse.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Seems like we are moving back into the mix for Travis Hughes and may get an official. What do you make of that? Just a kid trying to figure out what he wants right now is my guess. Same with Nicholson. We are supposedly making up ground with him too. If we can make a bowl game this year I think we will get one maybe two more top 10 VA guys.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** From what I've seen from Hughes' interviews, he seems to be doing the whole recruiting thing in a real logical slowpaced kind of way. If I were a big time recruit, I'd want to see UVa play well some before looking too hard too. I don't think there's anything not to like about the way our LBs have played - or the system that the coaches have installed - so it might be very possible to make up ground with him. Same goes for Nicholson too, I think. Although I don't really have a read on what I've seen from him. Apparently even Funderbunk at Oscar Smith is considering UVA for his 5th official, so we could definitely sneak in some real impact instate guys by signing day... That all being dependent on consistent performance though, even if there are plenty of losses- they'll have to be losses like the USC one.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Is Funderburke(sp) a VA guy originally? Normally when a kid has zero interest in the state schools that is my first assumption. He hasn't seemed to interested in either state school that I know of.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Dom Wallace is leaving the team for personal reasons - staying at UVA though for academics wish him the best - thought he was going to be a big time player - good thing we've got good RB talent/depth
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Do what? Are you fucking kidding me? What is wrong with these kids.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Curtis Grant visiting Saturday.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Is this an unofficial just for the hell of it visit? Hopefully we roll like we should. I don't want Curtis watching a struggle against a terrible VMI team.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** yeah - as far as I know - according to JO
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Grant is obviously a great player, but I think I agree with CW in that he's a little overrated - Personally, I'd be more excited if we somehow someway got Hughes.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** I sort of feel that way with Hughes. I think maybe because VT has been much more confident about Hughes than Grant. I would love to see Hughes at mlb in our defense. He would get to learn the ropes behind Greer and Taliaferro too. By overrated I wonder if CW is implying that Grant may have peaked athletically. That he is what he is right now and may not ever become "elite" at the college level.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Where is JO at now? Really miss him on CC. Havent really got a good feel for the new guys yet.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** virginia.247sports.com I'll always be a fan of Chris Wallace and if I had to choose, I'd stick with subscribing to his site...but I can handle both - JO's reporting is too good to pass up.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Hughes is UVA's best shot. Neither VT nor UVA has a prayer's chance with Grant now. He's tired of his parents and wants to get away. It won't be a hop down the road at UVA nor a day's drive to VT. Hughes is a total mystery though, that's going down to the wire. VT's biggest news is they made a ton of ground up with Stephone Anthony and they may steal him from UF while UF takes Grant.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** yeah I don't see him sticking around anywhere close. we're apparently doing better with Hughes, Nicholson, and even Funderburk. I think we'll land Whitmire, so have a couple chances to really close well instate.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** be shocked if you don't land Whitmire. if UNC goes ass up, VT and UVA will be where Hughes and Nicholson go but we may end up the bride's maids there anyways depending on how bad the NCAA takes it to them.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Good to know y'all don't know much more than us about Hughes, Rape. I like Hughes approach and he seems to give some honest answers about how he feels. He doesn't give the same cliche responses that I'm used to from recruits.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Brian on HH said he feels like VT is up there with Clemson for Hughes, UNC is slipping and UVA is back in as a wild card and will likely get a visit(he had a top 5) so the question is who won't get a visit. his first OV was this past weekend for the ECU game. Brian's a real straight shooter so things sound good from VT's end but there's a lot of time left, 4 more visits and the UNC debacle to play out so there's no telling what could change between now and then.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Saw that London wants a White Out for the FSU game. Could be cool if they hand out 60k white shirts, don't see it happening elsewise. Looking forward to seeing who the number 2 QB is this week.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** grant's apparently a huge fsu fan and sent jimbo his tape and they never got back to him speaks to the "he's overrated" crowd
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** nole fan eveyone knows he grew up a hokie and nothing else. When saban, butch davis ,foster, monte & meyer are after you 24/7, jimbo's or hudson opinion doesnt matter you see...And the lord knows no other fan base sucks off saban more then florida state fans. How times have you ever been to Hermitage ca? zero is my guess I dont know where you get your info, but I suggest you laugh in their face on that one. Let me repeat this for you ca so you can understand: When monte kiffen hand writes you personal letters every week... you're not overrated. Matter of fact, come to Varina tomorrow night and see for yourself. 7pm. Richmond, Va. Be there.
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** i never called him overrated
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** do they let white boys come watch games at Varina? I might be driving through rva tomorrow night
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Far as being :airquotes: overrated :airquotes: NO he's not ahmad brooks....havent seen one better. I liken him to more jaime sharper- who also went to the Herm and played dam near 10 years in the nfl. far as being ranked the #1 mike... I dont know, im a big fan of lamar dawson & lawrence thomas too...gonna be a battle all year. He hasnt dont anything to lost that spot I think. I love travis's potential too. I honestly think they'll be the best 2 after ahmad here in a few years..passing adibi and deveon simmons. Ive been preaching about travis for 2 years now, im glad he's getting his respect..he deserves it. I'll get ya in jp
Re: Beating up on FCS Teams **Official THE University of Virginia Thread** Come to Varina, form your own opinion and stop listening to people who have no clue when it comes to VA football. That easy. If you cant make it tomorrow, we play @ deep run in Glen allen on the 1st...cant make it any clearer for you ca. But dont go spittin' out things that you have no idea about.
