100%. Initially they took it for the exposure and the potential of a win over Alabama to start the season, but nobody wants to play Saban to start the year after the last 11 years. Props to USC, honestly, but if they still have Helton, meh.

Yeah but I do think we can get someone better than New Mexico St to come play us for $1.7mm...

Not every game has to be vs USC but couldn't we get at least a game against a top 50-60 opponent? On the other hand, we all know where Saban stands on the scheduling issue, so maybe it's a lot harder to entire people to come than we think? Even for $1.7mm

Also 5* Earl Timberlake cancelled his visit to Bama and is apparently going to Seton Hall instead...

He could possibly reschedule his final visit for us, but not a great sign

Sankey sacking up and moving the conference to a 9 game schedule would go a long way towards fixing the issue.

Dinner, tailgating, interesting things to see on campus or around Columbia.
Also, my friends and I don’t have tickets. We plan to get them outside the stadium. Hopefully we can find them at a good price.

We had to pay New Mexico St $1.7mm so yes.

We’ve got to at least a 9 game SEC schedule.

Y'all should come see my band. 10:30 Saturday night. Classic rock covers etc

Hawks11 you can find tix around the stadium but they're gonna be $$$. Scalpers drive a hard bargain even after kickoff and this game has a lot of demand since y'all only come here every 9 years

I’d rather go without an 11:00 game at all and have multiple night games in the same time slot to choose from if it got us more pm kickoffs.

Alabama returned to the practice field Monday, after a day off Sunday, for its first practice of South Carolina week. The Crimson Tide players practiced in shoulder pads and shorts and outdoors the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on a mostly-sunny, 93-degree afternoon.

Here are several observations from the media viewing portion of Alabama’s Monday practice:

-- Reporters watched one brief period of practice, but here is what I saw.

-- Defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe (foot) was participating in drills and at the front of the line of defensive linemen along with Raekwon Davis and DJ Dale. The next group of Tide defensive linemen through drills was Phidarian Matthis, Stephon Wynn, Tevita Musika and Byron Young, while Christian Barmore, Ishmael Sopsher and Braylen Ingraham made up the third group.

-- Junior LaBryan Ray appeared limited, watching his teammates from off to the side. Freshman Antonio Alfano was not at practice. He’s going through “some discipline things” with Nick Saban.

-- Center Chris Owens appeared to be fully taking part in offensive line drills after sitting out of the New Mexico State game. Emil Ekiyor (knee) was dressed out, but both he and Deonte Brown were watching drills from off to the side. The O-linemen weren’t working on full-line drills.

-- Watching the safeties, Xavier McKinney was the first player through coverage drills with Charles Kelly. McKinney’s left hand was once again wrapped, but he said it’s “just a little bruised up.”

-- The players behind McKinney in the safety line were Shyheim Carter, Daniel Wright, Eddie Smith, Jordan Battle and DeMarcco Hellams. I didn’t see Jared Mayden do any ball drills.

-- Several key players were watching instead of participating, including outside linebackers Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Lewis, but I wouldn’t look too much into that. Lewis came up for interviews earlier Monday, which wouldn’t have been the case if he was dealing with an injury.

-- There was nothing new going on with the inside linebackers. Christian Harris and Shane Lee were the first two players we saw, followed by Jaylen Moody, Ale Kaho and Markail Benton.

Fighting the good fight in the SEC thread, all arguments literally do not address the issue. What the AD is saying is factual.

Just because we’re beating the shit out of your team doesn’t mean we don’t want equal treatment

Nimari Burnett has taken his first official visit and after cutting one school from his list, has three trips to go before ultimately making a decision.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound combo guard from Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep is the 21st ranked prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The five-star guard has good size, elite length, plus athleticism and can play on and off the ball due to his handle, vision, scoring ability and elite upside as a multi-position defender.

Last weekend, Burnett took his first official visit to Michigan, where he said the coaching staff made a big impact on him.

“What stood out was how transparent and real all of the coaches were,” Burnett said. “It’s a perfect coaching staff that complements each other and I had a good time picking their brains.”

Burnett is one of the top combo guards in the 2020 class, which is a role that he would continue to have if he were to choose the Wolverines.

“They said that I would play both the one and two and be able to play in their up-tempo style of play, playing 30-35 minutes a game,” Burnett said.

It wasn’t Burnett’s first time seeing Ann Arbor but he did get the chance to learn more about the school.

“I knew how the campus and facilities looked already from my unofficial but I also liked the academic piece of it which is important,” he said.

Burnett had previously planned to visit Louisville on Sept. 13 but he told 247Sports that he’s no longer considering the Cardinals and is now down to a final four of Michigan, Oregon, Alabama and Texas Tech.

Oregon will receive an official visit Sept. 20, Alabama on Sept. 27 and Texas Tech on Oct. 18.
