So from talking to state fans they say that after the LSU game everyone has just been dropping 7 in coverage and sitting in a zone and that has completely shut down State's offense. Will be embarrassing if they have their resurgence against our defense. Hopefully WSP can dial up some more pressure. Should be a good opportunity for the safeties to get reps and improve against a team that is intent on throwing the ball .

I actually think this is one of the few games where we don’t want to dial it up. Hopefully we can win our 1 on 1’s and get pressure that way, because Pelini blitzed constantly while staying in man and they got absolutely torched. Everyone else has seemed to play predominantly zone and State has been helpless against it. Also sounds like Kylin Hill won’t be back. State is going to throw it 50+ times, so we should get ours one way or another, I just want to see us tackle well in space.

Hopefully Branch sees significant minutes this weekend. I’m also hoping we can get Baker and maybe even Holden some real reps on offense. I’m going to pissed if we don’t get Bryce by midway through the 3rd quarter.

Definitely want to rotate some young wide receivers on offense. I think the core of Smitty/Metchie/Slade is pretty good. But it's not deep and we are one injury away from disaster.

Maybe my boy #24 on offense will get some more garbage time reps. This is the Clown Baby revisionist approach to write offs.

This completely. The only time State has looked competent all year long on offense was when the opposing defense blitzed and played press coverage. Everybody else has sat back and watched them implode.

Knowing WSP, this will be the first game he decides to get aggressive.

Excited to see that Watts has some recruiting nugz up. Haven't read yet. Going to read then report back. Which do you think they will be?

    a) relevant new inside info regarding our top prospects and our expected finish
    b) rehashed and repackaged nothing comments that I could have put together by reading twitter for 30 minutes, compiled to look like a lot of info that justifies a monthly subscription

    It's a coin toss...

BOL Nuggets: Bama’s top-ranked class not done yet

As the 2021 class comes to close in the coming weeks, UA is down to a few spots. I don't think there is an absolute set number just yet, and the class could play out in several different ways. Safe bet for speculation is 3-4 more commitments, but the Tide staff can and will be picky. With the addition of Ga’Quincy McKinstry, UA has hit on the majority of its needs and have a very complete class. Defensive line is still arguably the top priority for the remaining spots, with UA looking at adding one, or possibly two, down the stretch. After that the Tide staff is looking for best available at positions like wide receiver, safety and linebacker.

It should be noted before you read any further that the finish to this class could go in several different directions and we always expect twist and turns. Alabama is in the mix for several elite prospects who have no clear-cut leaders, but as we draw closer to National Signing Day information usually starts to shake loose. So be prepared.

Tide-Tigers battle continues for All-American WR

Brian Thomas Jr. is one of the quietest kids in his class. I was told early on that he was "different" and wasn't going to get all into the recruiting process and the games. So far that has been true with Thomas keeping a very low profile and staying quiet, which leads to a lot of speculation. Per multiple sources, Alabama continues to trend here, while the same sources feel LSU has fallen behind. It should go with the caveat that LSU has felt they were up and then down in the Thomas sweepstakes before, so this could change. But right now the prevailing thought is Alabama leads. The Aggies are being mentioned, and per a source they are pushing extremely hard. Certainly wouldn't rule them out, or Georgia which rounds out his top four, at this stage, but as we head closer to signing day UA has to like where they stand right now.

UA remains in the running for Florida standout

Another potential defensive back addition for Alabama could be Terrion Arnold, who is versatile and athletic enough to play every defensive back position. Early in the process it was known that Tallahassee standout is a big fan of recruiting and fully intended to enjoy the attention. Where things stand overall is anyone’s guess. There has been talk about Florida, Florida State, Alabama, and Georgia … and all four teams are involved. The hometown Seminoles early on were the favorite to land Arnold before their slow start, but Alabama has been involved heavily the entire time after offering last fall. Arnold is due to put out a top five on Dec. 1. A commitment date should follow.

Another Bayou State product to track

Jardin Gilbert is another safety prospect that the Alabama staff is in good shape with. Sources close to the Baton Rouge native have indicated that since the Crimson Tide offered in the spring, that UA would be tough to turn down if the staff really pushed for him. Gilbert is working with a top five currently that includes Alabama, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Southern, and Texas A&M. Note: LSU has not offered at this point in time, which could factor into the mix if the Tigers pursue Gilbert later in the process. Right now a decision isn’t expected until Gilbert can get clarity on whether he’ll be able to take official visits or not come January.

Alabama still in play for another 5-star DB

Don’t sleep on Alabama with Sage Ryan. Never expected to say that, although UA has been among his favorites from Day 1. LSU is the obvious favorite here with family ties to the LSU staff and the program itself, while also being an in-state kid. But according to a source very close to Ryan’s recruitment, he's very much interested in the Tide, and in fact that interest is one of the reasons he hasn't committed to LSU yet, which many expected for him to do by now. I think everyone would consider this a major steal to pull Ryan from Louisiana, and to be clear I'm in the camp of still have to see it to believe it. But it should be noted I’ve seen it before. Regardless, his recruitment has gone on longer than expected, which has to at least be seen as a good sign for Alabama.

Texas DL high on Tide, will end up in SEC

Texas native Tunmise Adeleye has certainly been one who’s enjoyed the recruiting process. After committing to Ohio State in the spring, the rumors flew that he was not firm to the Buckeyes. Several sources had him close to committing to Alabama at one point or another throughout the process, even mentioning Bama's strong positioning during his pledge to OSU. Since re-opening his recruitment in August, Adeleye’s taken a visit to College Station and has expressed on social media that he wants to take more visits to his his final three of Alabama, Florida, and Texas A&M. Alabama seems to be in good shape here from talking to people close to the situation, but the fact he hasn’t committed confirms there is still work to do. He’s not expected to announce until Early Signing Day.

No. 1 prospect continues to eye Crimson Tide

This is one of the most interesting remaining recruits on the Alabama board with J.T. Tuimoloau showing more and more interest in Alabama the last four months or so. Talking to those close to the recruitment, Ohio State remains very much involved in the five-star’s recruitment, along with Oregon and home-state Washington. Tuimoloau’s definitely one who is expected to go later in the process, but the communication has been “really good” with the Alabama staff, per sources, and the Tide continues to trend in the right direction, which is big, considering at the start of this cycle he was considered a long shot at best.

Another Alabama-Texas A&M defensive battle shaping up?

Sources close to Shemar Turner firmly believe that if the Texas native leads the state, Alabama is the favorite to land his signature. Georgia has also made a strong push, but sources indicate the Tide holds the advantage over the Bulldogs at this point for out-of-state schools. One source close to Turner believes he was a lock to stay in the state, going to either Texas or Texas A&M before the college season started. The Longhorns’ struggles early on and coaching rumors haven’t played to Texas’ favor, as one source believes they have fallen down his list with Texas A&M the main competition in the Lone Star State. The Aggies have been a thorn in Alabama’s side when it comes to defensive lineman the last couple years, and this could very well be another Alabama-Texas A&M battle in the end.

Can Alabama flip another top prospect in South Florida?

Florida commitment Tyreak Sapp continues to prominently mention Alabama, despite having been committed to the Gators for nearly two years. From the Alabama side of things, Sapp has been good with open communication throughout the process, considering he could’ve shut the door at any time he wanted. With that said, sources close to Florida believe he is firm to UF, or at least that’s what he’s telling Dan Mullen and his staff. The Gators aren’t sitting idly by either way. But know that Alabama is a threat at this point. This could come down to head vs. heart situation, which is always hard to predict.

    Sorey decision coming soon

Multiple sources believe Xavian Sorey is trending heavily to Georgia. Alabama has been among his top three the entire process, but the Tide staff landed several the top targets of the linebacker position. But that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t still find room if the Florida standout wanted to jump in the boat. But right now the Bulldogs lead, and with a decision coming soon it could be hard to change his mind at this point for programs like Alabama and Florida.

Where do things stand on the offensive line?

The Alabama staff seems pretty set on the offensive line as things stand now, and rightly so, They have a very elite class of incoming prospects headlined by five-star tackles JC Latham and Tommy Brockermeyer. Erick Cade has been a name thrown around, as the Tide staff has continued to evaluate him and other offensive linemen, but with the limited numbers it would be hard for Alabama to take him right now. Cade says a decision is coming soon between Alabama, LSU, and Texas, with not much clarity as to which program he will announce for. But again, it would be hard for UA to take him at this point.

    I'm guessing it's typically this:

"Sources" = either no source at all or I heard another recruiting writer say this
"Sources close to...." = maybe a highschool coach
"Sources very close to...." = family member/friend/handler

I might still be giving too much credit there.
