When is the first spring football practice? Can't seem to find the schedule for anything outside of A-day
I listened to about half the game in the car on the radio and didn’t really notice him. We looked horrible for much of the game against a bad vandy team so it’s not like there wasn’t reason to be negative. I don’t know your dad but Boomers love to complain about the announcers
When was the last time we had a really good 3 point shooting night? Feels like it was the 1st LSU game.
I guess we already knew this but Petty is not a good 3 point shooter, he is a streaky 3 point shooter.
Seems like with us having to grind it out and not shooting well from 3, guys like Shack that can drive and score at the rim are just as important, if not more important, than the 3 point shooters. Obviously we need both.
His finishing was the difference in the game. Similar to Oklahoma where he couldn’t finish shit. He has such a quick step though. I’m hoping JD will be able to be a much improved version of that.
Looked at his game logs from this year, and damn is it streaky. I would have agreed with your assessment before looking at his numbers, but I didn’t realize how stark the difference is between when he is hot or not. He started the season with 2 games shooting 3-12 (25%) before a 6-10 (60%) game. Which he followed with a 4-24 (16.7%) 4 game stretch. And then he went 8-13 (61.5%) over 3 games before a 1-7 (14.3%) game sandwiched between another 5 game stretch where he made 22-39 (56.4%). He’s currently in a 12-41 (29.3) 6 game funk. We will need a hot Petty if we want to make a real run this March.
To add to your point, he was a big reason behind our last tourney win. He got red hot in that game against Va Tech
Seeing Paul’s 45 minute release reminded me of how if Mac’s first option wasn’t available or he felt pressure, he’d tuck the ball back in toward his body before the pocket cleaned up and or guys got open. Just a baller
that’s nice but can he throw the ball 80 yards from one knee blindfolded against the wind? Cause that’s what every NFL QB can do if you didn’t know.
I think it has more to do with him being less of a PG when he comes in. Herb and Shack have taken over that job for better or worse. I think he’s going to blossom even more with JD running the point next year.
Sark of to a hot start recruiting.....5 star QB from Cali and top 40 WR from Texas committed to him in recent days. Good for him. Also good for us that Jimbo has some more competition for elite Texas kids.
Im more concerned with a team we play every year than a team who we might happen to see in the playoffs once every few years Jimbo has some momentum building at a&m and hes been a bit unchecked with how bad Texas/TCU/Tech have been recently
Badly want this kid. Hopefully he wants to go as geographically far from home as possible (and also learn from the best DB coach in the world). Hopefully he’s also bffs with Jaeden Roberts and Damieon George
There are like 7 five star corners in the current 247, which is obviously subject to change, and three are committed already with the other three leaning toward the instate school. I can’t imagine we come up empty with that much elite talent at a position where we always put guys into the pros, but it would be a huge failure if we did.
Watching OSU and Michigan play is eye opening. High level of basketball. I feel like we would have to elevate our game significantly against them. Hope we see one in the tourney.
yea both those teams are legit final four teams. Well coached. Strong inside. Good guard play. Against those types of teams we really have to be on from outside. Our defense will let us hang around with pretty much anyone but eventually you gotta hit the shots and help them. Really good teams.
Those games come down to us scoring from 3 and making them uncomfortable in their offense because they feel like they’re chasing. You're right though—well coached and elite inside and out.
I was talking about this with my dad earlier today. Our defense will let us play with anyone. But our offense is a liability at times. I have no clue how far we'll go in the tournament. If we have a run where our offense is clicking then we can go to the final 4. If our shooters are off, we could get knocked out in the first round.
id love to see a game where Petty is feeling it in the next couple of games before the SECT. Let him get some confidence back you can tell he’s frustrated his open looks aren’t falling rn.
Not completely surprised. Seems like we try too hard to push the ball as fast as we can in the break and do dumb shit like drive into double or triple teams, make bad passes, etc
I don’t have any stats to back this up and there’s undoubtedly recency bias at play, but Surtain might be the best outside corner of the Saban era. Dre, Millner and Marlon obviously in the conversation as well.
