I was hoping Smith would’ve filled this role by now.
He’s had some moments in the last two games but we need more than that from him.
When it clicks, I think he can be as good as Q
Smith and Mathis have been looking better but it's probably just the Anderson gravity
Was a wedding so only got to watch a little bit, about to do the replay. Pray for me
Don’t do it to yourself, but if you must please count the drops.
Dont do this to yourself
What’s the line if we played UGA today? I think they’re 10 points better.
-10 neutral, -14 at their place
Yup - Metchie already with one. If we don’t have Jameson this year we would be really in trouble at WR.
Brob looked decisive and explosive
Anderson just gets handled, he’s still undersized against NFL talent OT’s
DJ Dale is just a name that never gets called
Christian Harris so bad taking on O-lineman
Cause he’s nothing more than a warm body
In no way is this a Sabans run is over post, but teams used to fear Bama, I feel like we don’t have that edge anymore.
Damn didn’t realize how bad we were in pass pro in 1H…all over Bryce on 3rd.
These guys are just straight beating us
Teams feared the fuck out of us last year
Ehh we beat people, but they didn’t really fear us. Ole Miss nor UF feared us, the intimidation factor hasn’t been there in a couple of years.imo
This is such an overrated line of talk.
Did Tennessee or Auburn fear us in 2009? TAMU in 2012? Auburn or Oklahoma in 2013?
I was wondering where Mike McCoy was to make sense of all of this
Owens is not good.
I tell ya - A&M has got some big dudes, Jimbo has recruited well
Nah you’re right, going against a line of Allen, Robinson, and Reed, then a line backing group of Reub, Williams, and Anderson isn’t intimidating. Carry on
We’re not an overly physical team anymore. The shift in philosophy has definitely had an impact on that. We’ve recruited as well as anybody on the OL. There’s no excuse to not be mauling people there.
Thats not the point. The point is that you dont have to make people “fear you” to win games. Its an overrated/concept. Weve lost games before to teams we should have beat in years where we were “feared”. Winning comes down to execution and coaching, not being feared.
I think I said that earlier, we beat teams last year that didn’t fear us, but we don’t have that same edge/physicality/intimidation we’ve had in the past.
What evidence is there that anybody feared us before? We regularly in each season had close games or were beaten by less talented teams.
It wasn’t fear, it was that 99% of the time, Alabama was the more prepared and focused team, and therefore made fewer mistakes. That’s a product of off-season work and game week planning.
We’ve significantly fallen off on that front this year after a return to form last year.
Can we get a comprehensive survey out to these teams to quantify the fear level so we can effectively manage moving forward?
I don’t think it’d be THAT high due to public perception. But I wouldn’t touch a single digit line vs UGA.
People thought we were gods in 2018, and we got beat worse than we ever have before under Saban.
I think fear is the reason john metchie dropped 3 passes last night and why we threw it 3 times from the 3 yard line
-Me, a cro magnon man
If we don’t come out pissed off next week immediately I’m be upset
We need new coordinators.
BoB will get hired somewhere after this season regardless. His name probably carries more weight than it should at this point.
We mostly need a new DC and ILB/safeties coach. DL probably as well, but I feel like we aren't separating from Roach for another couple years. He at least can recruit.
Matt Moscona said last week, after the LSU loss to Auburn, that the two names hes hearing for the LSU job where BoB and Lane.
Oh LSU… Please take BOB as HC and then bring Golding home to LA as DC to really stick it to Saban this time.
This is a borderline fanfiction scenario, especially if we end back up with Pruitt. Can't come up with many names to replace BoB, though. Lebby?
sark would never.
Anyone going to the private scrimmage against Ga Tech this week?
Ruggiero at Wake? Admittedly I know very little about him other than he’s put up impressive and balanced numbers now for like 5 years… at Wake.
I almost somewhat sarcastically said Graham Harrell and Willy Korn. If Graham could run our system, he'd do well with the QB's at least. It would probably be an NFL guy, but other interesting ones in college would be Garrett Riley and Mike Denbrock.
We may be better off on offense hoping BoB removes his head from his ass asap. Last game and 2nd quarter against UF he was awful, but otherwise he's done well.
Moscona was also heavily intoxicated when that happen and he's full of hot air the majority of the time.
I hope we’d never hire Lebby
I don't think there's anyway BoB is back next year. I had heard he wasn't overly happy here already (too used to being the top dog, and not used to the reamings you get from Saban).
I expect (hope) we'll have two coordinator positions open at the end of the season, and I couldn't be happier. I swear if we keep Pete again, I may go downtown and jump off the top of the Amsouth (or whatever it is now) building.
If either of our coordinators were better we win that game. If Sark was calling the plays we would've won because we wouldn't have thrown the ball 3 times inside the 4. We wouldn't have made Bryce throw all these crazy pin point 40 yard passes when he was getting blitzed to hell. We wouldn't have settled for all those field goals in the 2nd half. And we would have called plays to handle them bringing extra guys on blitz situations. And we would've run the ball more when we should have. If Pete wasn't the defensive coordinator and we had a fundamentally sound defense with good gap integrity in the running game and well coached linebackers, we would've won the game. If we had both an upgraded OC and DC we would have comfortably won the game. We also need to fire whoever is coaching the DBs because they suck . Isn't it Kelly? I know he's one of our best recruiters but the DBs haven't been getting coached /developed .
We've got 2 coaches in the secondary. Jay Valai has corners, Kelly has the safeties. Neither group is playing particularly well.
